Hello, I'm Perky, and i'll be your host today. If you like Elvorama, this is the game for you! It's a lovely game so lets get started. The rules are as follows:

RULES:

I will ask a question about anything dwarf related. Each question can be worth 1-5 points depending on how hard the question is. For example, if the question was "Who was the dwarf who traveled with the fellowship" it would be 1 point. However, if it was something like "Name two other names associated with Nibin-Nogrim", it would be 5 points, since it is common knowlege.

The way to score points is, you can b...id on how many points you want to place on a question. The number of points you b...id cannot be greater than the worth of the question. If you are correct, the points you betted will be added to your score. If you are incorrect, the number of points you betted will be deducted from your score. This way, if your guess is wrong and it's a five point question, you won't have to start from scratch by b...etting 1 point.

the person who correctly answers the question can start the next one and so on and so forth. At the end of each month, the person with the highest score will be the Winner of the month and will be recorded in the Hall of Champions. If there is a tie, there will be a tie-breaker.

There are two halls of fame, the Hall of Points and the Hall of Champions. The Hall of Points is a ongoing hall, where the people with the most points are comemorated. The Hall of Champions is only updated once a month.

Hall of Points

Firefoot - 3Hall of Champions
April 04 - Firefoot
May 04 - Firefoot
June 04 - The Perky Ent
July 04 - The Perky Ent
August 04 - Firefoot
September 04 - Firefoot
On With The Game!

Well, hopefully you understand the rules! So let's get started! The first question, for 5 points is: Name two other names associated with Nibin-Nogrim

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:28 PM
I'll bid 4 points.

Petty-Dwarves and Noegyth Nibin?

Neat idea, btw.

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:30 PM
That is most correct! 4 Points will be added to your score! your turn!

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:32 PM
Okay, for 2 points, name the 13 Dwarves on the Quest of Erebor.

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:37 PM
I'll bet 2 points! My answer is Thorin Oakenshield, Dwalin, Balin, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Fili, Kili, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur!

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:38 PM
Two points can be added to your score!

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:44 PM
For 3 points, name the dwarves who died in the Second Hall during Balin's quest to reclaim moria

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:56 PM
I'll bid 3 points - Frár, Lóni, Náli

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 06:00 PM
That is most correct! 3 more points for you!

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 06:02 PM
Five points - In what year was the Last of the 7 Rings taken from the Dwarves?

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 07:34 PM
Now that's a good one! I've gone through almost all of Tolkien's works, and i still can't find it. So i must ask, you do know the answer...correct? It isn't just guessing? Can you actually quote it?

I'm not questioning your work, it's just it's becomming incredibly hard to find.

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 07:43 PM
Don't worry, I know the answer.

Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 01:24 AM
I'll go for the full five points and say that it was taken from Thrain in Dol Guldur in the year 2845 of the Third Age.

Firefoot
04-14-2004, 04:48 AM
Five points to you!

Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 05:39 AM
Cheers Firefoot.

For 2 points: Who was the last Durin of the race of the dwarves (i.e. the last dwarf who took on the likeness of Durin the Deathless)?

Firefoot
04-14-2004, 05:52 AM
I'll bid one point, being unsure if this is what you want: Durin VII son of Thorin III Stonehelm?

Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 07:29 PM
Exactly what I wanted :).

Firefoot
04-14-2004, 07:45 PM
3 points - What was Gimli's battle cry at Helm's Deep and what does it mean?

Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 08:04 PM
I'll bid for the 3 points and say-

"Khazad! Khazad! Khazad ai-menu!"

Dwarves! Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!

Thorongil
04-15-2004, 02:46 AM
Wasn't it: Baruk Khazad! Khazad Ai-menu! Meaning something like: The axes of the Dwarwes! The Dwarwes are upon you!

Fingolfin II
04-15-2004, 03:13 AM
That was in the Appendix, but at the actual battle he's recorded as saying "Khazad! Khazad! Khazad ai-menu!"

Firefoot
04-15-2004, 04:47 AM
I just realized you are both correct, in two different places, but the one Thorongil put was the one I was thinking of. But Thorongil didn't place a bid. Maybe the rules should be edited to say if you don't bid it's worth full points? So maybe the points are given to Thorongil but none are subtracted from Fingolfin's score because his answer was correct too?

The Perky Ent
04-15-2004, 09:18 AM
yes, i'd say in this case Thorongil gets full points. But in the future, PLACE YOUR BID! OTHERWISE YOU CAN'T FOLLOW THE GAME!!!!!

but from now on, if you don't place your bid, i'll consider it that you never said anything.

Thorongil
04-16-2004, 09:55 AM
Sure thing.

For 3 points: -Why was Thorin called Oakenshield?

The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 10:04 AM
I'll bid three points!

He was called Oakenshield because in the Battle of the Nanduhirion, Thorin marched into the battle with a great dwarf army, but during the course of the fighting his shield was broken. He then cut a bow from a great oak tree with his axe, and used the bough to stave off the orc's blows, and to club them.

Thorongil
04-16-2004, 10:05 AM
3 points for you then.

The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 10:11 AM
For 1 point:

What was the name of the dwarf lord of moria whos grave was found by gimli?

Bombadil
04-16-2004, 10:41 AM
Balin son of Hundin?

The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 10:54 AM
But of course!

Bombadil
04-16-2004, 11:01 AM
sorry perky! I bid 1 point!

ok

For 2 points name the number of dwarves present at the council of Elrond, and their names.

Kath
04-16-2004, 11:49 AM
If anyone can enter this then I'll bid the two points and say Gimli and Gloin.

The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 01:57 PM
To make you remember, not bidding will get you 1 point, while getting it wrong will deduct the points of the question. hopefully now you won't forget to bid :D

Bombadil
04-16-2004, 03:42 PM
correct kath! ;)

Kath
04-17-2004, 12:33 PM
OK then an easy one.

Firefoot
04-17-2004, 02:36 PM

The Perky Ent
04-17-2004, 03:42 PM
Um...the minimun you could bet is 1 point!

Firefoot
04-17-2004, 04:20 PM
Well, that was stupid wasn't it? One point then.

Kath
04-18-2004, 06:42 AM

NightKnight
04-18-2004, 06:49 AM
For 2 points - What were the dwarven cities in the Blue Mountains called?

The Perky Ent
04-18-2004, 08:19 PM

Once more, marevlous! Oh, and thank you for the reference to Elvorama. *bows* That is very much appreciated. :D

~Galadel

Sirithheruwen
04-28-2004, 02:31 PM
Heh, just Siri will do!
Yes, Fingolfin II, taht was indeed the one I was thinking of.

luthien-elvenprincess
04-29-2004, 05:14 PM
Alright...for 4 points.

Where and when did Thorin Oakenshield first met Gandalf? By 'when', I mean month/day/year.

The Perky Ent
04-29-2004, 05:41 PM
Do we need to know the day, month, and year, cause i can only find the place, year, and month. Not the date

The Saucepan Man
04-29-2004, 06:18 PM
... and say 15 March, 2941 (Third Age) in an inn at Bree (although the Unfinished Tales has them meeting on the road to Bree). The name of the inn is not specified, but it was quite likely the Prancing Pony.

luthien-elvenprincess

Correct :)

The Saucepan Man
04-30-2004, 07:30 AM

I bid three points... Khim & Ibun.

The Saucepan Man
04-30-2004, 07:46 AM
Sorry Thorongil, but samwise8504 got there first. And samwise, you didn't place a bid which, according to the Perky Ent's rules, means that you get minimum points for the question, ie 1 point. But you do get to ask the next one. :)

(Perky Ent: I think that you should add the rules on the consequences of not bidding to your first post on this thread.)

samwise8504
04-30-2004, 07:50 AM
ok for 3 points, name the two dwarves who were slain by azog

Kath
05-16-2004, 08:20 AM
Really starting to hate the emailing system.

NightKnight
05-16-2004, 12:55 PM
Thank you. :)

Fingolfin II
05-20-2004, 01:12 AM
I'll also bid 2 points, but I'll say Hurin, because he did kill him and I suppose if he killed him, he must have wanted to....I guess.

Hey can we cheat on this?
If I say:
I bid three points - fir.
Can I get the points?

Fingolfin II
05-22-2004, 06:07 AM
I think Kath, that Sirith gets only one point since he didn't place a bid, according to one of Perky's previous posts. Nice try, though :D.

Firefoot
05-22-2004, 06:07 AM
Sorry Kath. Sirith has the right answer, but since she (?) didn't place a bid there is only one point awarded. Your turn Sirith.

NightKnight
05-25-2004, 06:21 AM
4 points for you. :)

Fingolfin II
05-25-2004, 08:57 PM

The Perky Ent
05-27-2004, 08:20 AM
For 2 points, I'll say Thror and Nain

NightKnight
05-28-2004, 04:06 AM

I'll add them up as soon as I post this post ;) Now for the question! I know this is dwarf jeopardy, and although this is a twist, it is dwarf related! The question is:

For 1 point, who plays Gimli in the 2001-3 Lord of the Rings Movies?

Remember: 1 more day then we'll have our May champion!

Firefoot
05-29-2004, 03:45 PM

The Perky Ent
06-01-2004, 08:00 AM
The May winner is....

~*~ Firefoot ~*~

the game continues. All points have been deleted.

Fingolfin II
06-04-2004, 06:19 AM
I'll bid the full 4 points and say he said 'For my son' and was talking about the Dwarf Ring he possessed. Before this he was ranting 'The last of the Seven' over and over.

Firefoot
06-04-2004, 10:45 AM
Not quite...

The Perky Ent
06-04-2004, 04:49 PM
Lucky for Fingolfin II, since he doesn't have points, he has nothing to lose. Ergo, I'll do the same thing :D

Um...his last words were about the map and key and what he meant was for gandalf to give it to Thorin? Hey, I got nothin to lose! :)

Firefoot
06-05-2004, 10:27 AM
I'm assuming that you mean the same last words that Fingolfin said? If so, then that is correct.

The Perky Ent
06-05-2004, 10:35 AM
Yes I did mean "For my son", so, I guess I'll go! For 2 points, who re-crafted the gate of Minas Tirith out of Mithril?

Firefoot
06-05-2004, 10:44 AM
I bid 2 points - Gimli and some Dwarves of Erebor.

The Perky Ent
06-05-2004, 10:51 AM
The hand says it all!

Firefoot
06-05-2004, 06:50 PM
2 points: In what Dwarvish piece of jewelry was the Silmaril that Beren got set?

Fingolfin II
06-05-2004, 07:38 PM
I'll bid 2 points and say it was the Nauglamir.

Firefoot
06-06-2004, 05:21 AM

For 3 points: Name three dwarves who we know are descended from Dwarves of Moria, but are not of Durin's line.

Firefoot
06-07-2004, 05:10 AM
I bid 3 points: Bifur, Bofur, Bombur

Fingolfin II
06-07-2004, 05:11 AM
3 points your way!

Firefoot

Bombadil
06-07-2004, 07:48 AM
I bid 2 points and say because they have beards

NightKnight
06-07-2004, 08:40 AM
2 points: The women both look and sound like men.

***Gandalf***
06-07-2004, 10:15 AM
I'll bid 2 points and say because they look and sound like the men and they have beards!

Firefoot
06-07-2004, 12:02 PM
I'm going to give it to NightKnight because saying they look alike would imply that they have beards.

The Perky Ent
06-07-2004, 12:50 PM
Points Tallied

NightKnight
06-08-2004, 12:58 AM
Thank you.

For 3 points: What did Fram send to the dwarves after killing Scatha?

Evisse the Blue
06-08-2004, 01:46 AM
His teeth (the dragon's, not Fram's) ;)

NightKnight
06-08-2004, 12:54 PM

Evisse the Blue
06-09-2004, 01:12 AM
Oh darn it! I forgot to bet. :( Oh well. Let this be a lesson to you all...

For 2 points: What is the dwarves' battle cry and what does it mean?

Fingolfin II
06-09-2004, 02:41 AM
I'll bet two points and say "Khazad! Khazad! Khazad ai-menu!" meaning "Dwarves! Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!"- this is from the Appendix.

Or do you mean the one from Gimli's shout at Helm's Deep- "Baruk Khazad! Khazad Ai-menu!" ("Axes of the Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!")?

Evisse the Blue
06-09-2004, 03:44 AM
Correct! It's the second one that I had in mind (and that is in the appendix also). Carry on!

Fingolfin II
06-09-2004, 05:15 AM
For 1 point: What is the name of Balin's father?

Sorry for such an easy question- I can't think of a harder one at the moment :).

I bid 1 point: Fundin.

Fingolfin II
06-11-2004, 01:50 AM

Firefoot
06-11-2004, 12:00 PM
Not really. :)

2 points: Why did Aulë make the Dwarves?

Kath
06-11-2004, 01:49 PM
