Gil-Galad
06-27-2004, 02:42 PM
thranduil didn't die and wasn't at Pellenor

Fingolfin II
06-27-2004, 06:07 PM
It was Theoden, of course!

I have no clue were my head was at that post. I meant to type theoden not thranduil, but I think fingolfin beet me to the answer any way.

Gil-Galad
06-28-2004, 06:32 AM
your go fingolfin! make me proud!

Fingolfin II
06-29-2004, 12:23 AM
Thanks Gil-galad :D.

Interestingly, that question had two answers- Theoden and Thorin both said it before their death in battle. Both were kings also; pretty interesting.

Anyway:

Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë!

I love this one.

Ah, that passage from Nirnaeth Arnoediad always sends shivers down my spine:

Then when Fingon heard afar the great trumpet of Turgon his brother, the shadow passed and his heart was uplifted, and he shouted aloud: 'Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë! The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!' And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: 'Auta i lómë! The night is passing!'

Fingolfin II
06-30-2004, 03:32 AM
That's the one.

It seems there is not much people say during battle proper. Sort of general shouting does the trick, usually. As for before or after, try your teeth on the following:

Come! There is yet time for council!

:D

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-02-2004, 01:11 AM
Gandalf, before the battle of Dale?

HerenIstarion
07-02-2004, 01:29 AM

Gil-Galad
07-05-2004, 02:49 PM

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-14-2004, 09:49 PM
Well, here it is.

Take your companion with you and flee!

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-18-2004, 09:34 PM
This was said during a battle. And it's quite easy.

Evisse the Blue

A hint perhaps?

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-19-2004, 09:07 PM
First few years of the Third Age. :)

Mariska Greenleaf
07-20-2004, 12:59 AM
That was Isildur to his esquire, Othar.

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-21-2004, 01:53 AM
But you're correct! The thread is thine!

Mariska Greenleaf
07-22-2004, 06:06 AM
thanks, and sorry for that little typo...

Leave the dead in peace!

Tuor of Gondolin
07-22-2004, 10:56 AM
Hmm. This thread looks interesting.

How about Miranda Otto, oh, all right, Eowyn.

Mariska Greenleaf
07-23-2004, 02:51 AM
It was Eowyn indeed, or should I say Dernhelm?
Good job. Your turn now to post a new one.

Tuor of Gondolin
07-23-2004, 08:07 AM
Okey Dokey (although Fingon's call has already been cited).
 :D

"Moria! Dain! Dain!"

symestreem

The dwarves of the Iron Hills, in the Battle of Five Armies.

Tuor of Gondolin
07-23-2004, 09:23 AM
Correct. (Not very talkative, dwarves).

It's symestreem's turn.

symestreem
07-25-2004, 01:07 PM
"What? Yet another beggar at my doors?"

Evisse the Blue
07-25-2004, 03:11 PM

Aragorn after the battle of Pelenor fields?

Evisse the Blue
07-26-2004, 01:16 PM
Nope. Think a smaller scale battle.

Gil-Galad
07-26-2004, 04:02 PM
i remember seeing that...i think either helms deep or battle before the Morrannon gates...

Firefoot
07-26-2004, 05:37 PM
Gandalf said it when the Fellowship was battling in the Chamber of Mazarbul.

Evisse the Blue
07-27-2004, 02:18 AM
Firefoot is correct.

Firefoot
07-27-2004, 06:01 AM
This I say to you, lord, with the eyes of death: Who said it to who?

Tuor of Gondolin
07-27-2004, 01:59 PM
Huor to Tuor's future father-in-law?

(Those crazy kids got to get together).

Firefoot
07-27-2004, 02:19 PM
Very very close.

Gil-Galad
07-27-2004, 08:26 PM
Hurin to Turins father-in-law?

Firefoot
07-28-2004, 05:18 AM
That's it!

Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 09:59 AM
i actually just guessed at that...another easy one

"Aure Entulva! day shall come again!"

Firefoot
07-28-2004, 10:24 AM
Hurin said it 70 times at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 10:38 AM
as he killed 70 Trolls of Gothmog's black guard...anyway your turn

Firefoot
07-28-2004, 11:01 AM
"What hope they may have then I do not know." :)

Tuor of Gondolin
07-28-2004, 11:52 AM
Not sure about this,

How about Gandalf to the Three Hunters in Fangorn Forest?

Firefoot
07-28-2004, 12:02 PM
Nope.

Tuor of Gondolin
07-30-2004, 03:55 PM
Faramir in Minas Tirith, about Frodo and Sam?

Firefoot
07-30-2004, 04:11 PM
No. It's in TTT.

Firefoot
10-06-2004, 05:21 PM
Anyone?

After all, there aren't that many major battles in Two Towers. ;)

Zebedee
10-06-2004, 07:16 PM
Aragorn at Helm's Deep?

Firefoot
10-06-2004, 07:23 PM
Yessiree!

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2005, 04:17 PM
How about this one:

"You do not know your peril."

Tuor of Gondolin
01-16-2005, 08:53 AM
Aragorn to the Uruk-hai at Helm's Deep?

Evisse the Blue
01-17-2005, 10:44 AM

Tuor of Gondolin
01-17-2005, 12:24 PM
