I looked for something like this, and found none. So here goes:
1. The point of this game is to post lyrics from a song that pertain to a certain person(s), event, or place in Middle-earth. Then other people try to guess the answer.
2. Please post the lyrics, not just the song name. Not everyone knows the same songs.
3. Artist and song name are helpful but not necessary.
4. If you post a song that is not in English, please translate it.
5. You may change one word per line to make it fit your riddle. Put the changed word inside brackets.
Savvy? M'kay. First one:
I'm on my way, I don't know where I'm going
I'm on my way, taking my time but I don't know where
Goodbye, Rosie...
Simon and Garfunkel. Super easy.

07-27-2004, 10:14 AM
Screw the Surgeon General :smokin: lol, Anyways, here's the next question:
Since you've been gone
Well, I feel like I've been chewing on tinfoil
Since you've been gone
It's like I got a great big mouthful of cod liver oil
Oh well, I'm feelin like I stuck my hand
Inside a blender and turned it on
You know, I've been in a buttload of pain
Since you've been gone
Lyrics by Weird Al :D
Morsul the Dark

No. It's about a character at a particular moment in his life.

08-25-2004, 01:19 AM
Oh dear. You got the character, but not the situation...
Okay, I'll give it to you!
(what I had in mind actually was Bilbo at the beggining of his quest, when he's torn between his Took side and his Baggins side.)

That fits someone we know to a T...lol! So who is it?
Harder you try to fix things in your life
Faster you know it's in vain

I'm dying, dying to wake up without you, without you in my head again
Dying, dying to forget about you, that you ever lived,
There's a shade come over this heart that's coping with laying down to rest
I'm dying to live without you again.
Should be fairly obvious...
The Saucepan Man

Erm, hroom hoom. Sorry for forgetting this one. I was trying to find some lyrics that did not relate to Frodo, Gollum, the Ring, Aragorn/Arwen, Faramir/Eowyn or Turin Turambar. Took so long that I forgot to come back ...
Anyway, is it Frodo to the Ring?

Any takers?

The Saucepan Man
12-29-2004, 11:43 AM
I was actually thinking of Glaurung to Nienor, but Brandir fits the last two lines better.
So you're up next Evisse. :)

12-30-2004, 04:35 AM
Thanks.
So it's me again....(I'm thinking of advertising this thread following the example of a couple of worthy Downers ;) ).
Ok, here's a cool line:
"I'm so far away that each step I take is on my way home..."
(Bon Jovi, Bed of roses).
Elennar Starfire
12-30-2004, 08:36 PM
For some reason that makes me think of Beren, though Frodo is perhaps the more obvious potential answer.
(is that cheating? if it is, I'm very sorry)
Evisse the Blue
12-31-2004, 06:15 AM
It's not cheating since it's neither of them. ;)
As a hint: this person is even further away from 'home' as these two, and is very nostalgic about it...

Boromir perhaps? He's the most prominent repenter. Although Kill the King doesn't really seem to fit...

Sauron's takeover as ultimate Baddie of ME from his old Master, Melkor?
or perhaps
Telchar the smith, outdoes his former master Gamil-Zirak when he forges the Dragon Helm, Angrist, and Narsil?
Vinyacoriel
02-12-2005, 01:47 PM
Maby Frodo? he followed people and tried to learn more about his quest (being an apprentice) then after the taming of Gollum he was 'master'
Evisse the Blue
02-12-2005, 02:18 PM
Sauron was my thought too. That and Feanor. Telchar is a good example too.
So, your go, Sophia!
Vinyacoriel, I'm afraid Frodo is a bit ambiguous...you could say he was an apprentice, but not in the true sense of the word, more like we're all apprentices, in that we learn from the wiser ones...

Maglor, perhaps?
Relating to Maglor and the silmarill. This may be obscure, but here is my reasoning.
Maglor was in love with the silmarill, as was Feanor, but had to part with it when he threw it into the ocean.
