View Full Version : Odd King/Queen Out

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:25 PM
Well, this is just like any other O _ O. There's a list of different Kings and or Queens, and by guessing, you have to figure out which one is the odd one out. An example would be What is the Odd King Out?

Thranduil
Finwe
Feanor
Gil-Galad
Fingolfin
Dain

The answer would be Dain, because he's the only dwarf king in the batch! Get it? Good, because here's the first set:

Turgon
Ar-Pharazon
Thingol
Elessar
Morgoth

Have fun!

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:27 PM
morgoth is the only maia or valar

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:28 PM
Melkor was a valar, and the strongest I might add. Anyway, no, you've got the wrong man (valar) ;) Keep 'em comming

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:32 PM
i knew it was melkor darn get those two confused
and melkor is my favorite valor as well

Lyta_Underhill
07-24-2004, 10:38 PM
Ar-Pharazon is the only one whose name is in the Adunaic form? :D (Also the only one who ruled off the shores of traditional Middle Earth (Numenor)). Or, if I may be allowed to guess further, Elessar would be the only King who died a natural death, as Morgoth is cast into the void, and Thingol, Turgon and Ar-Pharazon killed in the sacking of their respective realms.

Cheers,
Lyta

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:41 PM
...um...Morsul? Melkor and Morgoth are the same. Melkor is his name as a Ainur. Morgoth (Black Enemy) Bauglir (The Constrainer) is the name the elves gave him after he stole the simarils and went into middle earth. They are one in the same.

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:42 PM
AR-Pharazon wasn't killed in his sacking. He caused it, but wasn't there. Never-the-less. You're wrong on all counts.

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:44 PM
then stop confusing me grr...ok now i understand im a high rookie when it comes to ME knowledge so anyway
elessar was the only one to control an army of dead folk?

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:46 PM
nope.

Lyta_Underhill
07-24-2004, 10:55 PM
AR-Pharazon wasn't killed in his sacking. He caused it, but wasn't there. Wow, what happened to Ar-Pharazon, then? He got to Aman and they said "go back!"? ;) (I do admit incomplete knowledge here!) Oh course, that means that perhaps the one who did not see the Blessed Land (Elessar) could be the odd one out...Morgoth, Turgon, Thingol, Ar-Pharazon would have all seen it then...

Cheers!
Lyta

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 11:04 PM
or it could be elessar as he is the only one to marry a person of another race

Lyta_Underhill
07-24-2004, 11:06 PM
or it could be elessar as he is the only one to marry a person of another race Actually, Thingol (Elda) married Melian (Maia), so that would make two of them!

Cheers,
Lyta

I don't like this thread lol it makes me feel dumb well at least you saved perky the time of telling me in wrong.

Lyta_Underhill

I don't like this thread lol it makes me feel dumb well at least you saved perky the time of telling me in wrong. Don't worry, Morsul! I often feel dumb in these threads; I just don't have the courage to play as often as you do! I'm just guessing really, and Eru help me if I get it right, 'cause I don't have a clue what I'd ask next!

Cheers,
Lyta (just having fun on a late Saturday night!)

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 11:16 PM
well thank you
I feel the same way I don't know what to ask if i get it right
Morgoth?
the only one to be evil?

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 12:25 AM
There's a thread in...I believe it's the books that states what happens to Ar-Pharazon and his men. Some say he was killed, others say he fell into a everlasting sleep on the shores of Tuna. Anyways, yes, these are hard, but you learn a lot. Btw, all wrong so far. Here's a hint: Time will tell

Lhunardawen
07-25-2004, 01:08 AM
This is the first time I'll ever post in the Quiz Room...

Elessar is the only one who was not around during the First Age.

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 09:39 AM
really close, but no.

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 06:07 PM
elessar (aragorn correct?) was the only king at the beggining of an age

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 06:14 PM
You're burning hot, inches from it, but not there!

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 06:32 PM
alright Ellessar the only king to live through the end of one age into another

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 06:34 PM
Back it up. You were on the right track, but it looks like you just stopped at the gas station to ask for directions! Try again

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 06:40 PM
the only king whose crowning marked the beggining of a new age?

Checks road map he said take a right onto Bedrock where's Bedrock?

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 06:45 PM
Close, but no. It's more general

Take a right turn al Albuquerky, then travel east for 10 miles. You'll see a sign saying "Bedrock in 20 3/4 mi"

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 06:50 PM
hes the only one in the fourth age?

The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 06:51 PM
You have reached your final destinaiton! Correct! your go!

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 06:54 PM
Melkor

Aragorn

Sauron

Super Duper easy

Lhunardawen
07-25-2004, 07:23 PM
Aragorn is not a bad guy.

I could be wrong.

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 07:58 PM
 how ever did u guess? :) go ahead

Lhunardawen
07-25-2004, 08:20 PM
Wow! My first time to ask...ever! Here goes:

Elendil
Fingolfin
Gil-galad
Fingon

There are a lot of answers, but I just have one in mind. Guess away!

Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 09:46 PM
eledil has a phial named after him thew light of elendil

Lyta_Underhill
07-25-2004, 10:22 PM
Elendil
Fingolfin
Gil-galad
Fingon

I suppose one could say they are all related! But that wouldn't be an odd one out, would it? Fingolfin->Fingon->Gil-Galad (direct relations) and Fingolfin->Turgon->Idril->Earendil->Elros->lots of Numenorian kings->Elendil

Ok, it IS a crackpot answer, I know, but I had fun posting it! :D

Cheers!
Lyta

Fingolfin II
07-26-2004, 01:54 AM
Morsul, that's the light of Earendil :p. I'll go for the obvious one and say it was Elendil because he was the only Man?

Morsul the Dark
07-26-2004, 02:00 AM
I knew light elendil sounded wrong but i couldn'tfigure  out why hehe thanks

The Perky Ent
07-26-2004, 09:48 AM
Fingon was the only one not killed by a "lord of darkness"

Lhunardawen
07-30-2004, 08:58 PM
I'm sorry for being away for so long...

Fingolfin II, I knew that that answer would be too obvious, so no.

...And Perky Ent got it right! Your turn.

The Perky Ent
07-31-2004, 10:59 AM
OK Here's the next:

Fingolfin
Elessar
Isildur
Ar-Pharazon

It's easy, I guess!

Morsul the Dark
07-31-2004, 05:43 PM
fingolfin is the only one not in isildur's line

Fingolfin II
07-31-2004, 07:24 PM
Elessar is the only King who ruled in times of peace?

Gil-Galad
07-31-2004, 07:52 PM
Elessar was only name given to person, others were originals

The Perky Ent
07-31-2004, 08:52 PM
Nyet!

Morsul the Dark
07-31-2004, 08:55 PM
Ar-Pharazon

the only one to hhave their title in their name

The Perky Ent
07-31-2004, 08:57 PM
Nope.

Morsul the Dark
07-31-2004, 09:12 PM
fingolfin is the only elf

Encaitare
07-31-2004, 09:35 PM
Fingolfin is the only one without Numenorean blood?

Fingolfin II
07-31-2004, 10:06 PM
Elessar was the only one named after a Jewel?

The Perky Ent
07-31-2004, 11:19 PM
No, No, and no.

Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 12:44 AM
Ar-Pharazon

While looking at the names I started scrolling up and down and notice a Quote from Sauron to this man... This man is the only one Sauron talked to?

Fingolfin II
08-01-2004, 03:59 AM
OK, how about a really obvious (and most likely wrong) guess- Fingolfin was the only one who lived in the First Age?

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 11:58 AM
None are right so far. Here's a big hint: It has to do with where they've been.

Evisse the Blue
08-01-2004, 01:58 PM
Fingolfin - the only one who's been to Beleriand?

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 05:58 PM
Nope

Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 06:05 PM
isildur was the only to have been in mordor?

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 06:14 PM
Nope

Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 06:18 PM
this answer is partially a joke but at the moment all i can think of I shall conitue pondering

Isildur was the only one to have been at the bottom of a lake (even if it was after he was shot by orcs) ;)

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 06:32 PM
You're right!...just kidding. No, it's not. It's really obvious though. Just raise your perspective and you'll get it

Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 06:38 PM
well I'm "raising my perspective" I'm not sure if that's a clue but I raised my perspective to the summit of a mountain and Isildur is there yes it is the crack of doom Isildur was the only king to go to the crack of doom?

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 07:53 PM
No, but that was a hint. Here's another, raise your perspectives...more

Evisse the Blue
08-02-2004, 04:37 AM
Fingolfin - the only one who's been to Valimar?

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 11:26 AM
Nope. It hasn't anything to do with where they've been. It has to do with where they haven't been. Raise your perspectives!

Morsul the Dark
08-02-2004, 02:14 PM
fingolfin has never been to minas tirith?

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 05:27 PM
Nyet! Raise your perspectives!!!! take the hint ;)

Morsul the Dark
08-02-2004, 05:39 PM
One would think mount doom is the highest you can go however by raising my perspective I'd be looking downbut that doesn't make sense either...

I'm broadening my ideas

Elleser had an evenSTAR
Isildur= lover of the MOON
Ar-pharazon cant find

but fingolfin- cloak of hair

fingolin has never been in the heavens metaphoricly or physicly

Don't know any places higher than mount doom

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 06:38 PM
Yes, you would have to look down!!! That will take you to the right path. Anyways, thats wrong.

Morsul the Dark
08-02-2004, 07:49 PM
Ah looking down..would I look down at hobbits? If so Shire and Bree come to mind...however If I continue looking down I get to the mines of moria Aragorn has been to all three of these places but who hasn't Fingolfin probably came from the Grey havens along the east road and Ar-P. may have been one of the first rangers so

Isildur has never been to the Shire

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 07:56 PM
Look, here's another hint to help.

On the edge of the void, you can see it all

Does that help? And BTW, that's wrong.

Morsul the Dark
08-02-2004, 08:15 PM
A void is a big empty place looking down you're on a cliff

Perhaps one the anduin which would make Fingolfin the odd one out...

THen again you could be looking into the paths of the dead but then there are two odd ones out...

Fingolfin has never been at the falls of rauros...or the anduin seeing that theyre both wrong it doesn't matter much

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 08:21 PM
No! Look, here's another, just please take the hint!

From the clouds, a god sees all

Morsul the Dark
08-02-2004, 08:26 PM
ok here is where i give unless everyone but elessar has ridden an eagle I have no idea

Ellesar was never in the sky he never rode an eagle

and regis that is my final answer

The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 08:31 PM
You got it right...sorta. The first part

Elessar never... That part is correct. The rest is wrong. Sorry, think about it, then try again.

Morsul the Dark
08-05-2004, 03:40 PM
elesssar was never "in" a constilation

The Perky Ent
08-05-2004, 05:30 PM
nope.

Morsul the Dark
08-09-2004, 12:02 AM
...I'm sure it should be obvious but another clue would be nice...

The Perky Ent
08-16-2004, 03:01 PM
It can't get easier than this. The hint is, thing continent.

Now you know what I mean by raise your perspective!

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 03:39 PM
Aragorn has never been to Rhun?

NightKnight
08-16-2004, 04:27 PM
Elessar was never on more than one continent?

Fingolfin - Aman and ME
Isildur - Numenor and ME
Ar-Pharazon - Numenor and Aman

The Perky Ent
08-16-2004, 05:00 PM
NightKnight got it...finally!

NightKnight
08-16-2004, 06:05 PM
That wasn't too hard. ;)

Oh, crap, now I have to make a question.

Aragorn
Fingolfin
Fingon
Bard

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 06:07 PM
That wasn't too hard. ;)

quiet you :p

hmmmm Bard only one to kill a dragon? I think...

NightKnight
08-16-2004, 06:11 PM
But it wasn't! :p

And nope, that's not it.

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 06:16 PM
was aragorn the only one not in the battle of five armies... Blast not having the Hobbit anymore

The Perky Ent
08-16-2004, 07:20 PM
Bard was the only one to not confront a dark lord?

NightKnight
08-17-2004, 05:13 AM
Morsul, both Fingolfin and Fingon we're dead at that time, and had been dead for thousands of years. ;) And Perks, you're wrong too.

The Perky Ent
08-17-2004, 09:45 AM
Bard was the only one not to get married?

Morsul the Dark
08-17-2004, 09:54 AM
Bard was only one not of long royal lineage

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 01:33 PM
And how long was Fingolfin's royal lineage? ;) Both wrong! :p

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 01:40 PM
hmm...a hint?

and heres a random and wrong guess

Bard is the only one who's name ends in D

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 01:51 PM
Very wrong, yes. ;)

Perks' last guess was on the right track.

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 01:53 PM
Aragorn only one to marry outside his race?

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 01:53 PM
Nope.

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 02:55 PM
bard didnt marry some of royal blood?

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 03:04 PM
Nope. And congrats on 1000 posts. :)

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 03:07 PM
Thank you....

Is it bard at all?

hmmm......BArd met Bilbo
Aragorn Met Frodo...
I doubt the other two met hobbits...

Bard is a title not his name?(I think that was his title I dont think it was his name) Must get the hobbit again too much information lost

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 03:16 PM
Well, it has nothing to do with hobbits.

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 03:20 PM
hint perhaps?

NightKnight
08-18-2004, 03:41 PM
More hints? :p

What happened afterwards?

The Perky Ent
08-18-2004, 03:59 PM
Aragorn was the only one to live a long life after his fighting climax?

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 04:03 PM
well marriage was close...so If perky doesnt think Bard was married I'll say

Bard was the only one without children

NightKnight
08-19-2004, 01:52 AM
Morsul, he did have children. And that is a BIG hint.

Telchar
09-29-2005, 04:07 AM
Fingon is odd out because his son (Gil-Galad) did not inherit his kingdom, but established his own. As did the others: Aragorn / Eldarion - Bard / Bain - Fingolfin / Fingon ... maybe?

NightKnight
09-29-2005, 09:34 AM
That's probably what I intended, I don't remember. It was a year ago, and my memory isn't that good...

You go on.

Telchar
09-30-2005, 02:00 AM
OK here we go...

Hyarmendacil II
Goldwine
Turambar (King of Gondor)
Eomer
Calimehtar

Bergil
10-01-2005, 09:03 PM
Hyarmendacil because Hyarmendacil is an alias. his real name was Vinyarion.

Telchar
10-02-2005, 08:13 AM
Sorry no. It has nothing to do with names. Four of them has something in commen.

Telchar
10-05-2005, 02:35 PM
HINT: Its family related

Telchar
10-07-2005, 03:19 PM
Correct answer was: Everybody but Goldwine lost their father in battle...

Im going away for a week (to lovely Spain), and won't be back until next monday, so anybody can continue this thread :)

Hiriel
10-13-2005, 12:52 PM
Yay for lovely Spain. I'll pick up the thread, then.

Beleg
Barahir
Boromir II
Isildur

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-13-2005, 01:07 PM
Beleg was mighty, but no king !

(only Isildur was, the others was chieftans or a steward! This to could be an answer, but I think not) :)

Hiriel
10-13-2005, 04:24 PM
Eep. Put the question on the wrong thread. Lo siento. So, new list:

Isildur
Gil-Galad
Aragorn
Aldor

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-13-2005, 04:40 PM
Gil-Galad is the only elven one !

(I know it is too simpel, but it was just to get us startet) :D

Hiriel
10-13-2005, 07:13 PM
Simple? Yes. Right? No. Good try, though, Rune.

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-13-2005, 07:31 PM
Aldor is the only one who is not a descendant from Finwë ?

Hiriel
10-14-2005, 09:56 AM
That's it exactly. Your thread, Rune.

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-21-2005, 06:32 PM
Fréaláf
Elessar (Aragorn)
Bard I
Fingon

it should not be that hard ;)

Telchar
10-22-2005, 01:05 AM
Fingon - the only one to succeed his father?

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-22-2005, 06:20 AM
Thats what I was thinking about. all yours

Telchar
10-28-2005, 01:54 AM
Elendil
Valandil
Isildur
Meneldil

Three of the have something i common which the fourth lacks.

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-28-2005, 03:07 AM
The 3 of them all have names that ends with dil ! ;)

or maybe(if I was to be a bit more serius)

Elendil
Valandil
Isildur

Was all born in Númenor.

Telchar
10-28-2005, 03:21 AM
The serious part of your answer is incorrect - but VERY close!

NightKnight
10-28-2005, 08:33 AM
They all escaped from the destruction of Numenor?

Eonwe
10-28-2005, 09:17 AM
I'll go with

Isildur
Meneldil
Elendil

all were born in numenor. (according to my book, valandil was born in imladris.)

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-28-2005, 08:12 PM
(according to my book, valandil was born in imladris.)
Both of our souces can be correct, I belive you are thinking of Valandil; the fourth son of Isildur who was left in Imladris and I was thinking of Valandil the eldest son of Lady Silmariën. (daughter of king Tar-Elendil)

Telchar
10-30-2005, 09:21 AM
Eonwe - you are correct, please continue.
Rune - How can Valandil, 1st lord of Andúnië be relevant for this thread? He was never niether King nor Queen anywhere. ;)

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-30-2005, 10:03 AM
:o That is one of the most embarressing moments in my time amongst the dead !

I guess it was because he was of royal blood that I did not think of it !

Eonwe
10-30-2005, 01:44 PM
crap, i guess that means i have to think up one, right? um...sorry this might take a while...
