View Full Version : Palantir of Fortune non-quote quote edition

Tuor of Gondolin

I don't believe there is this type of game yet. If so, oops!

What's a non-quote quote?
Well, the majority of Tolkien's works are obviously not words spoken by or sung
by an individual, therefore the majority of his writings, including a number of memorable lines, are outside the purview (whatever that is  ) of other
Palantir of Fortune games.

Rules are generally the same as other Palantir games.
Rules: The quote is a series of blanks which are filled in by letters guessed by players until someone guesses the quote. Whoever guesses correctly gets the thread. If necessary, the context of the non-quote quote should be given. The first one certainly needs such an explanation.

He had no fear, save for weather and weariness, and these men must endure whom need sends far abroad in Middle-earth. I don't know where it's from, but I'll take a guess: is it about Tuor?

Tuor of Gondolin
08-25-2004, 07:23 PM
The quote's correct, so I'd say you win. It's about Isildur, in UT:
"The Disaster of the Gladden Fields."

There was a flare of livid lightnings: forks of blue flame springing up from the tower and from the encircling hills into the sullen clouds.

This wonderful description can be found in TTT, in the chapter: The Stairs of Cirith Ungol.
