They were connected to Sauron who had a connection to the Ring (it was a part of him after all)

we use ring radar. Plus birds take bribes.
As for the sniffing thing, that was just us gettin' a whiff of hobbit funk. Carl was trowning up all night after that.

I'm gonna try and give a good answer, let's see if I do it!
Ok, well...the power that the One Ring had over them was so significant that they were only alive because of it. They were enslaved to it for thousands of years (Right? Well, somewhere along that line) and that's a long time! And the One Ring was made with he Dark Lord's power. The power that went into the making of that Ring was so great, he died after that thing was destroyed! Ok, let me get down to it I'm sorry. You know all this, I'm sure. The Nazgul were drawn to that ring because it was the sole purpose of their existence. All of their miserable "lives" (neither dead nor living, what were they?!) they were drawn to that ring. I doubt they liked that stupid ring, but they couldn't destroy it even if they wanted to. It corrupts. Poor Frodo, take him for example. If he were to be under the control of that ring for thousands of years, he'd be just like them. Their souls were attatched to the ring. I guess..
Hope I made some difference here!! I tryed.

Look at that. I write a whole freakin essay, and people can sum it up in just a sentence or two. I really gotta learn to cut things short.

I think that because Sauron had made the One ring he had a connection with it, as said herefor.
The Nazgul were the nine Kings, and they had the rings who were connected with the One Ring, that's the way how Sauron could rule them.
I think because the rings of the Nazgul were connected with the One Ring, they could track the Ring of Sauron.

It is said in LotR (I believe) that the One Ring 'called' to them, for they were the servants of It's maker, and the nine rings were 'related' to the one. That's why they could sense It, for It was always seeking It's master.

Ity was almost like thwe One Ring had a mind of it's own. Didn't Gandalf say it was trying to get back to it's master?

This may sound stupid but I think they could feel it the way a dog can feel their leash. Because they are in bondage to it.

That does not sound stupid, Raefindel. Yes, the ring spoke at times. Although, I believe that the Ringwraiths could smell the ring as well as sense it. For example, the part when the hobbits hid under the tree and the Nazgūl sniffed them.. oh wait, he was just sniffing for the hobbit.. with the ring. Perhaps the ring has a distinct scent, but I will stop confusing myself.
The Ringwraiths seemed to have a sixth sense, where they can "feel" the ring, especially if it were put on, since when someone is wearing the ring, the ring is in their world and they can see it. So, I conclude with a combination of scent, a telepathic bond with the ring, and the ring calling out to him, is how they track it. (Wow, this is possibly my longest post...)

Here's my two cents . . .
The Ringwraiths still wielded the Nine Rings that Sauron gave them. These rings corrupted and enslaved them, but the rings gave them certain powers. These were magic Rings of Power, after all.
Perhaps their ability to sense the presence of the ring was one of the powers bestowed by the nine rings of mortal man. Another power, now that I'm thinking about it, was the ability to force the ringbearer to don the One Ring and reveal himself to them.
What d'ya think? smilies/rolleyes.gif

Not to get off-topic, but they made Frodo put on the ring from fear, so that he thought he could just disappear and run away. Little did he know, putting on the ring actually made it worse.
Okay, back on topic!
