View Full Version : The Tol-in-Gaurhoth Grimoire
The Saucepan Man
03-12-2006, 07:50 PM
As there appears to be some interest in Tol-in-Gaurhoth facts and figures, I have revived a project that I started some time ago. The fact that I started it in the first place probably indicates little other than how sad I am ... ;)
There follows a synopsis of each of the Werewolf (senior) games, identifying who was moderator, who played which roles, the roll call of death and the outcome. A handy link to each game is also included.
My purpose in starting this project was to make it easier to work out the various statistics, so please feel free to use the thread to statistise away.
If I have made any mistakes, which is a distinct possibility, please let me know and I shall edit as appropriate.
I am afraid that I have not included the Werewolf junior games as it took long enough to come up with the summaries of the senior games. But if anyone feels up to adding in synopses of the juior games, please go ahead.
Enjoy ... :)

Which allows me to work out my own (rather depressing) stats:
Number of games: 10
Modded: 1
Ordinary Villager: 6
Werewolf Hunter: 1
Cobbler: 1
Werewolf: 1
On winning team: 3 out of 9
On losing tem: 6 out of 9
Survived to end: 3 out of 9
So not a great strike rate, but I did manage to survive to the end of each of the games in which I was on the winning team.

Wow, Sauce! I was planning on doing something like this but my stat gathering kinda got a little stalled. I'll add to this site soon. Thanks for making it!
But as to my own stats:
Games I was in: IV, VI, VII, VIII, XII, XIII, XVIII, WWJ5
Number of games: 8
Modded: 0
Ordinary Villager: 5
Werewolf Hunter: 0
Ranger: 1
Shirriff: 1
Cobbler: 0
Werewolf: 1
On winning team: 4 of 8
On losing tem: 4 of 8
Survived to end: 1
Lynched: 1 (as a werewolf)
Killed by Wolves/Heroes: 5
Wow! Just once I survived to the end!
....and....
Wow! I've played more of these than I thought!

Ha! So that's why it took so long to fill in your REB save! :p
That was quite the violent, bloody, gory list to read through. What fun, I am all the more looking forward to the start of my first game.
By the by, Paul the poet guy, are you in a game currently? 'Cause you know, Mithalwen is still looking for more players.... It's a junior game, but could still be fun for you because you know, I'm playing.... :D

Hmmmm...maybe I should do the like for the WWJ games... I think I will...when I get the chance. Great idea Saucy!
Anyway, my stats:
Played in - IX, X, XIII, XV, XVII, XVIII, J II
Number of games: 7
Modded: 2 (J I, J III)
Ordinary Villager: 5
Werewolf Hunter: 1
Ranger: 0
Shirriff: 0
Cobbler: 0
Werewolf: 0
Black Beorning: 1
On winning team: 2
On losing team: 4
Survived to end: 1
Lynched: 2
Killed by Wolves/Heroes: 0
Double Lynched:3
Mass Lynched:0
And yet people continue to believe that I'm a Wolf. Now, I want to know if you all think I should do a separet(sp?) thread along these same lines for the Junior version.
Edit - I added Double Lynches and Mass lynches to the bottom of the list as well as Single lynche and Killed by Wolves ratio.

Well, my stats don't look too bad.... I survived 'till the end (and won) on my first game (out of luck I must say). Then I survived until the last night when I was kiled by Malkatoj on my second try.
Then, and I write this on a new paragraph as I find it mightly amusing, I wrote Aiwendil's death as I co-modded with Menel. Then I went on to play again and lobbied for Aiwendil's death until my wish was granted. I survived until the end, but I was lynched thanks to a very smart Saucepan wolf.
Which brings another point. Both times I lived until the end I had very little suspicions for the one who turned out to be the wolf. Maybe the wolves keep me around because either I'm not too smart (as SPM implied, more than once) or because no-one listens to me anyway. :D

Ordinary Villager: 4
Werewolf Hunter: 0

Shirriff: 1
Werewolf: 1
Seer: 1
Mytho-seer: 1
On winning team: 5/9
On losing tem: 4/9
Survived to end: 2/9 (+1 one of last villagers in werewolf victory)
AND I've never been lynched as an innocent. When I was a wolf... it was all the seer's fault. :p

Great thread, Saucepan!
Glirdan, by all means, let's see some WWJ stats. :D
And now, my own 'senior' statistics, though short they may be:
Games in: IIX, XIV, XV, XVI
Number of games: 4
Modded: 0 (Sub-modded: 1, which I screwed up miserably.)
Ordinary Villager: 3
Werewolf Hunter: 0
Cobbler: 0
Werewolf: 0
Black Beorning: 1
On winning team: 1 out of 4
On losing team: 3 out of 4 (Technically, one of those was second place out of three. :p)
Survived to end: 1 out of 4
Well, I can only say that I think my games have been better than they look of paper... er, on a computer screen at least.

As did the Mod...
Had Naria not been sick, or had Azaelia been quicker on the draw, it could very well have been a Village Victory...
As for my own stats, I'm a wee bit too lazy (ie. sleepy) at the moment to transfer them from the WW XVIII thread, although I think I've made a mistake on the other one, in that I didn't survive to the end of Menel's game (thought I did...).

I see that, prior to WW17, my record was a measly one win out of seven games. So I am improving, even if my success rate is still only 1 in 3. :D
Some more stats:
Lynched: 1
Killed by Wolves/Heroes: 5
Survived: 3
My low rate of being lynched is probably explicable by reference to my apparent appeal to the Wolves as a tasty morsel.

As for the last one, I'll let Sleepy do the analysis. I'm sure he'd rather do his own game anyway considering it just finished a few days ago. And now a suggestion. Thanks Lalaith, I'm ever so slightly ahead of you; though I am, of course, trailing behind the 100% records of Estelyn and Underhill. There has to be a minimum of two games played to be worthy though. :p
So here's mine (including the Junior games):
Winning side in the games moderated by TGWBS, Feanor of the Peredhil, Firefoot, Holbytlass, the phantom, Glirdan and Shelob.
Losing side in the games moderated by The Saucepan Man and Anguirel.
7 out of 9. That's a winning record of 78%.
I have survived once only, meaning I have had eight lovely deaths! :D
Good idea, SPM! Us statistic junkies will be spending hours on this thread. ;)

And now, adding in the WWJ stats to the one I previously posted.
Games in: IIX, XIV, XV, XVI, WWJI, WWJII
Number of games: 6
Modded: 0 (Sub-modded: 1, which I screwed up miserably.)
Ordinary Villager: 3
Werewolf Hunter: 0
Cobbler: 0
Werewolf: 0
Black Beorning: 1
On winning team: 2 out of 6
On losing team: 4 out of 6 (Technically, one of those was second place out of three. :p)
Survived to end: 1 out of 6
I can't say that adding in the junior stats really helped my appearance, other than fleshing them out a little. So, for my own amusement probably, here's some other random facts(well, not so random.):
What I was:
Black Beorning: 1
Innocent: 5 (Man, I hope I don't make it six in a row!)
What I did:
Killed mercilessly: 1
Acted rationally: 3
Implemented a far-fetched, no-shot-of-ever-working plan: 2
What happened:
Lynched: 4 (2 for stupid plans...)
Killed by wolves: 2

Well, our games will always be a legend for the generations to come, you have to remember that Mith. All the games that we have today will be a scary story that you would tell to your children to put them to sleep. Our stories WILL become legends. After all, we are the forefathers of this forum, are we not??
Besides, your game isn't going to be turned wholly to statistics. Speaking of which, I think that we should refrain (even though we do it all the time [normally]) from using these statistics in an actual game.

I think that we should refrain (even though we do it all the time [normally]) from using these statistics in an actual game.Uh oh, now you've opened up a can of worms. I think that's asking for the same kind of trouble I've learned not to ask for in regard to codes. Yeah, some players will hate the stats, but some players hate codes. Some hate getting lynched. But at what point do you decide that something may not be part of the game?
Shelob
03-13-2006, 05:23 PM
And as far as game play goes the statistics probably can't help you that much. Since much of the game is random (who gets what role for example) you can't really look at something and say "Oh well So-and-so's been a wolf 3 out of 10 times, so s/he has a 30% chance of being a wolf" (sorry, I don't actually feel like calculating anything). Their chances of being a wolf would depend on the original number of villagers and the number left, not on what role's they've had in past games.
Not to advocate for or against allowing them, just to point out that just because you can use them doesn't mean they'll necessarily help.

Speaking of which, I think that we should refrain (even though we do it all the time [normally]) from using these statistics in an actual game.Too late for that, I am afraid. A number of games have referred to the chances of someone being a Wolf twice in a row, or (on a personal note) the chances of "someone" eventually being a Wolf.
I agree, however, that direct quotes from this thread (or, indeed, any previous game) should be kept out of the games. That should be fairly easy to enforce.

Killed by wolves: 1 out of 3 (33%)
Lynched: 2 out of 3 (67%...though one of those was a self-lynch ;))
Survived till the end: till the end as in, the last DAY or NIGHT? 2 out of 3 (67%)

Well I don't have children and if I did have any, I don't think such gory tales would be good at getting them to sleep... more likely give them horrific nightmares requiring years of expensive therapy...definitely tales to tell other people's children :D just before you leave...... almost as much fun as taking them to an amusement park, filling them full of vile coloured fizzy drinks and icecream - then returning them to their parents full of sugar and additives and feeling a wee bit icky.... :p

Let's see...
I have a very successful lynch rate - 100%- I have never lived until the end of the game.
In my first WW game, a fellow wolf (Malkatoj) survived until the end but the concensus was that it was a draw. I consider it a victory, however. Just because I want to do so. ViCTORY
I was then lynched on the second day as Ordo in my first WWJ game. I think the villagers won. VICTORY
My second turn as werewolf I implausibly outlasted my mates and lived to co-exist with a mere handful of villagers. Werewolves lost. This was a heartbreaker because TGBWS (wolf) wanted to kill Malkatoj the night before the Seer-atoj outed him. DEFEAT
Last game, the conniving wolves allowed the naive villagers to lynch me and in a historical game the lupines won. DEFEAT
I consider myself an unsuccessful player but am still learning. I hope to embrace my wolvish personality without condemning myself to the noose. Whenever I try to change my modus operandi it attracts even more suspicion.

Gurthang: I'm beginning to wonder if people aren't 'doctoring' the 'randomness' of who's who so that this 'someone' is never a wolf.
Okay, not really, but I'm beginning to think that you may never actually become a wolf...
I often wonder how 'random' some mods truly are. I guess we can only trust them.
Gurthang, you should peruse the last game in which Sauce finally lived up to his reputation as having wonderful wolf potential.

Depends on the Mod...
I was mostly random. I'll confess to making Kuru the Cursed just because I wanted to see that... But otherwise, I was random.
Now, the Phantom was not. He claimed, if I recollect correctly, to have looked at his player's list and picked the three best Werewolf candidates, in his opinion...

Kinda funny that the wolves win so often, yet in the game where they were supposedly 'stacked', they didn't. Maybe that shows that victory really has nothing to do with skill, but is more based on luck. I mean, really, just look at Saucepan: I consider him a 'good' werewolf player, yet his win percentage doesn't really reflect it. :D

My stats are simply depressing. I think I've only been on the winning side once and have never survived until the end. I was eaten by werewolves a few times, but been lynched far more often.
Still, some of the games I lost I consider moral victories. ;) And the only game I 'won' I'm definitely not too proud of. I guess statistics don't tell all.

Moral victory perhaps, Cailín; but real victories are better. :p
I guess this thread could also serve as a sort of .... confessional? I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that games of Werewolf, when I'm playing in them, do take over my life and make it hard for me to think about anything else.
Come on, I know some of you are in the same boat. Those hours spent perusing every post 10 times over were totally worth it. Give us some figures. I was on one thread for 4 straight hours.

It's true, Eomer. Your 4 hour record beats me, I thought 2 and a half was bad. That was my inaugral WW game. We villagers won that: something I am most proud of. My next outing was horrid: taken out as an ordo by the hunter! Oh, the betrayal! My third outing is ongoing, so ShhhZip! :p

Well, that was fun.
I once again an Ordo in the latest WW game and managed to get myself lynched on day one.
So far my roles: 2 wolves, 3 Ordos, 1 Ordo WWJ, no other gifteds/special roles.
Lynch ratio: well, as Nilp had me exclaim in my death scene: "I am batting a thousand, Baby!"
I swear I'm a nice, if lynchable, guy. It seems that people who haven't played with meare often tempted to lynch me but veterans are more inclined to understand me.
However, no more on that game because it is ongoing.

Anyways, is it just me, or is the Hunter a role often assigned to a newbie Werewolf player? If I recall correctly:
II - The Barrow-wight (Doh!)
III - Azaelia of Willowbottom
V - Gil-Galad/Sophia the Thunder Mistress
VI - Lhunardawen
VII - Durelin
XIV - Aiwendil
XV - Farael

A bit odd, ain't it? Or maybe it's really just me.

Sleepy Ranger - ordinary Villager, suffocated by gold paint (so tacky) on Night 2
Kuruharan - werewolf, lynched anagrammaticaly on Day 2
Boromir88 - seer, drowned in a bath of baked beans by a werewolf on Night 3
Kitanna - werewolf, suffocated with her own cane and run through with a sword on Day 3

I do have a folder but it's mostly just assorted thoughts of my own, suspicions of the players, & the daily voting from WW 7.

How many times has a Hunter slain a werewolf? I know Guy let Feanor kill LMP at the end-play of WWIV, but the only time I remember a Hunter killing a werewolf and dying in the process was Azaelia. Can't remember who she killed, though, or in which game.

I can remember a certain incident, Lal.
It was on the first 'real' Night, too. In the phantom's game, Eomer the Evil Hunter correctly marked me as a blundering wolf and I was shot. I think that lost the wolves the game, too.
It was all very dramatic.

Azaelia pegged Holby if I remember right - giving the villagers one last shot in WW3 (the Game of the Three Silent Wolves). Unfortunately, we overlooked the last quite wolf (Oddwen) and struck out on a last-ditch double-lynching attempt.
I thought that was the only one also, but Cailin did bring up another one. Any others out there that I missed?

Er - most of the information that you need to work this question out is here on this thread. That's kind of the point of it ... :p ;)
One of the more memorable Hunter incidents was in WW11, when AbercrombieOfRohan declared herself as the Hunter, followed swiftly by a Hunter declaration from mormegil. Morm, the true Hunter, was lynched for his trouble and took AoR down with him.
As a Hunter myself, in WW8, I lived a rather charmed life (having made my role fairly obvious) and, having orchestrated a mass lynching on the final Day, realised that it could spell doom for the village. Happily, that last minute realisation enabled me to strike down Gurthang the Black Beorning before he took the whole village with him. :smokin:

Correction, Sauce...
I'm pretty sure Mormegil declared himself the hunter first and then a suicidal Abercrombie countered with her own claim to hunterdom.
Of course the village believed Aber over grumpy ol' Morm and lynched him and he promptly took down Aber-wolf with him.
She explained post-game that she had a big work-load and needed out of the game. Seemed, fairly reasonable... at least she got the darn village to kill their hunter.
I don't mean to be a smarty pants Master Sauce. The game just sticks in my mind because it is when I first started getting interested in WW.

I have fond memories of the original heroic hunter, Azaelia. I was very proud of her, despite her death being in vain. And yes, it was Holbytlass who felt her wrath.
Let's be honest, though. It was easier for her considering the village was so small. Not like that certain brave hunter (who was not at all evil, Cailín) who picked a wolf out of the entire village. :D
And Abercrombie's suicide hunter mission had me wondering if she'd lost her mind. Thankfully, at least to this disembodied wolf, it worked out well in the end.
Praise be to the role of Hunter! Serving up drama here, there and everywhere! Why was it ever Assigned to Mordor?

Oh yes, I remember phantom's game now, didn't Eomer actually get lynched by the villagers and take Cailin down with him? (Sorry Sauce, I should be looking back through the pages of the Grimoire, I know)
I assign myself as Hunter to Mordor. Probably the worst performance in the history of WW (Feanor's killing of the Seer in a WWJ wasn't great, I admit, but at least she had the kudos of WWIV to fall back on.)

On losing team: 1 out of 3 (33%)
Killed by wolves: 1 out of 3

WWJ IV: First game, being a seer... wasted one day in trying to pin Roa_Aoife with even remotely believable theories. In the end had to come forwards (we had already lynched our hunter, and the wolves had gotten our ranger). We had no chance in that one.
WWJ V: Second game as a ranger... went much better. Managed to team up with Roa (seer) and to save one innocent life in the end by guarding her.
WWJ VI: Third game... ordo at last! It was so much easier this time. Although I was almost lynched the first night. Boro had magnificient dreaming-capabilities (two wolves, two nights), and I managed to come up with a theory over the third one. With Jenny's initiative and Diamond's astonishing re-entry we killed the third wolf on the third day.
Just incredibly fun stuff!
Btw. I don't have files for WW, but sometimes, in a heated game with lots of posting, I print at my school the last pages that have been coming in while I've been working, and then on my way home, drop into my neighbourhood Czech-pub, and analyze them as good as I can, with an ale or two. That's a great way to leave the working-day behind...
Well let's see now.
WW 4 - Ranger - lynched Day 1 - villagers won (victory).
WW 5 - Mythomaniac turned wolf - survived - wolves won (victory).
WW 6 - Ranger - killed Night 2 - villagers won (victory).
WW 7 - Seer - killed Night 6 - wolves won (loss).
WW 9 - Ordo - lynched Day 6 - wolves won (loss).
WW 13 - Ordo - killed Night 3 - wolves won (loss).
WW 14 - Ordo - lynched Day 5 - wolves won (loss).
WW 15 - Ordo (wolf) - survived - wolves/ordos won (victory).
WW 16 - Cobbler - killed Night 2 - wolves won but draw agreed (victory).
WW 17 - Ordo - lynched Day 6 - villagers won (victory).
WW 18 - Ordo - killed by Hunter Night 6 - wolves won (loss).
WWJ 3 - Ordo - lynched Day 5 - villagers won (victory).
Victories: 7/12 - ooh over half!
Losses: 5/12
Victories while still alive: 2
Lynched: 5/12
Killed by wolves: 5/12
I have played all the original roles except Hunter and was the first ever Mythomaniac, which served me well!
I do keep files on some of the games and though they are only on the computer they are quite extensive when I've really got into a game.

Hey...both of these examples involve me...am I some kind of Hunter's Bane?
I thought you played great as Hunter in WWXIII--your only problem was staying alive so long. Also I seem to recall a lot of talk after the game was over about how everyone knew I was the wolf anyway but you all let me live so the game wouldn't be over so fast. And then, in a fit of dumb luck, I attacked the Cursed. Can't blame yourself for that, can you? Actually I'm starting to think I should retire--as a wolf I was so obvious that the villagers actually played along with me, and as Seer I was so suspicious that the Hunter killed me.
I wonder if the Hunter should have a suicide option if he/she is really sure of the identity of one of the wolves, and the village hasn't cottoned on yet.

One of the points of creating this thread was to provide an opportunity to look for particular patterns arising from the games that have been played. The recent talk concerning those who have survived games prompted me to wonder about the extent to which survival to the end is related to one’s role.
So I made a list of the number of survivors in each role. This covers all of the games concluded to date, with the exception of Sleepy’s game. The latter has not yet been “catalogued” here and, frankly, I am confused over just who survived. It looks to me, however, that most of those who survived the game (if not the final narrative) were ordinary villagers, which would not affect the statistics below too much.
Survivors:
Werewolf: 22
Black Beorning: 0
Cobbler: 1
Mytho: 2
Cursed: 2 (once as a Wolf, once as an Ordinary Villager)
Seer: 1
Ranger: 0
Hunter: 6 (or 7, if you count Naria’s disappearance in WW17)
Shirriff: 3
Ordinary Villager: 29
(For Anguirel’s game, the Heroes have been counted as Wolves and the un-gifted Wolves as Ordinary Villagers.)
While this is fairly “rough and ready”, since it is affected by the number of times each role has been used and the number of villagers with that role in each game, I think that some broad conclusions can still be drawn.
Obviously, the “safest” role is that of Ordinary Villager, but that is because of the “safety in numbers” principle (similar to the survival tactics of herd animals :D). Ords are the most numerous in any game, and therefore have a much better chance of survival.
It does not surprise me that the second “safest” role is that of Werewolf, because on average the Werewolves tend to win more times than the Villagers and, where an equal number of Wolves and innocent Villagers are left on the final day, the Wolves survive whereas the innocents do not.
The figures suggest that your chances of surviving if you are a Ranger or the Seer are pretty negligible. That makes sense, given that these roles are prime Werewolf targets and the nature of the role can also often prompt a misconceived lynching. It also doesn’t surprise me that Werebears and Cobblers are more likely to die than not, given the nature of their roles.
But what is quite noticeable is that, proportionately (given that there is usually only one per village), Hunters have a very high survival rate. I suppose that this is explicable by the fact that Wolves are often able to identify the Hunter, and Hunters are more likely to declare themselves or drop obvious hints, and Wolves are then more likely to avoid them as nightly kills for fear of one of their own being taken down.
The Shirriff survival rate is also quite impressive, given that they have only been included in a relatively small number of games.
No doubt this post confirms Mith’s view of me as borderline Aspergis …;)

Killed by wolves: 3 out of 7 (43%)
Lynched: 2 out of 7 (29% - both times as a Wolf)
Survived till the end: 2 out of 7 (29%)
GAMES:
XI -Holbytlass's Game: Ordo, died at the end of the Game, killed by the last Werewolf, Alcarillo.
XII -The Phantom's game: Werewolf, lynched on Day 3 by village.
XIV - Alcarillo's game: Werewolf, survived the game.
XV - Anguirel's game: Seer (Sauron), survived the game.
XVI - Moderated
XVII - Meneltarmacil's Game: Ordo, killed by Werewolves during Night 7.
XVIII - Shelob's Game: False Seer (Fool), killed by Werewolves during Night 7.
XIX Nilpaurion Felagund's game: Werewolf, lynched on Day 6.
So, the analysis suggests that I'm pretty even between wins and losses- and that I'm disproportionately likely to be a Werewolf. It also seems that I'm pretty good at lasting most of the game (with the exception of XII, I've made it to Day 6 or Game Over, whichever came first).

Interestingly (well to me anyway) Eomer and I are now neck and neck on the win ratio front:
8/10 for Eomer, making 80%, and 4/5 for me, also 80%.
Although clearly Eomer has the edge, having had more actual wins....

I'm not posting my stats until I can report favourable results.
Well, since I claim XVI and XVIII ( :p SPW) as moral victories, I can report a favourable moral win rate. That count? :D

I honestly have no role I'd rather avoid.
Ranger is narrowly my favourite, and I'd love to try again at it and do better.
Then being a Werewolf, excellent tension and fiendishness, my favourite game ever was undoubtedly my WWJ wolf performance.
Then Seer, which I also enjoyed and was successful in through dumb luck and taking Eomer's advice, to be honest...
I would say "ordinary villager", but that would be a cop out and I've really enjoyed my villager games too actually...
I do want to be a Hunter eventually.

I'm now 50% for both wins and losses. I improve! Hopefully, my next game will continue the winning trend... but it may be a while till that game. I need a breather. With the exception of my first game, I've been Werewolfing end-over-end...
Previously I would have said Ranger was my worst role, having died by the end of Night 2 on two occasions. However, after my recent 'success' (I died but not til Night 5!) I am now much happier about it :)

...fill in the blank:
"I don't ever want to be _____________ again, because ____________."
The curious want to know....
Well, considering I've only played three games I'm not sure I can fill those blanks out.
At first I thought I never wanted to be an ordo again because my head was spinning all game & I was convinced that WW games were over-rated afterall. Now that I've played two more and watched countless more I don't think I'd be quite as easily fooled (not bragging). That would make being an ordo quite a bit less painful...I wouldn't mind being an ordo again.
At first I was not thrilled at being Cobbler because I didn't understand the role to well. After playing a full game with the role it can be a trying role but I enjoyed the challenge. I wouldn't mind being a Cobbler again.
I'm not 100% sure I'm patient enough for the Seer role...I know in my WWJ game as Seer I went for the kill when I thought I had the chance, knowing it was a stupid move. Still, I wouldn't mind being a Seer again either, that way I could try the role without trying to pull off a stupid strategy. ;)
So at this point I don't think I could fill out those blanks, I'm not sure if that'd change with more games, but...I guess we'll have to see on that one.
I'm curious: Has anyone ever modded a game & then wished they hadn't afterwards? Because of the time commitment, because it was more challenging then they expected, because of any reason at all?
How about it?

My only problem was the time. Because I am a student and do extra-curricular activities, it takes up a lot of time. So, as those of you who played in either of my games saw, the time got changed quite a bit. However, I always managed to get it back on track. Other then that, I had a blast!
Speaking of which, fill in the blank:

This isn't a hard one: an ordo simply because I've been one far to many times. It gets rather annoying actually...

I've only been able to play twice, due to school hours and final papers and other such things, but it's made me admire the game much more. Almost as much as a good poppyseed muffin, which I hold in high esteem at any meal time.
Playing ability has been sadly, horrible.
Games: 2
Ordinary Villager: 1, and unfortunately thought to be too suspicious to be true.
Werewolf: 1, horrible really when the other two live in much different time zones.
Lived through: 0
I know, pathetic. But, there are some wonderful things I've gotten out of the two. The first one was a wonderful experience to excerise nose grinding logic until my head cracked. Also, it brought me to meet a new friend, and I'm sure the rest of you pretty much know from there. Plus, I ended up a lonely une poisson sandwich in the end, but oh was it fun to scheme with logic!
The second one, besides the time zone woes, really was horrible. I had to kill myself off because, my teacher decided to assign yet another thesis paper on the roll of 'evils' of human nature and their effect in selected classical and modern literature. Good thing is, I recieved 100% on overall understanding and writing of the subject. Also, I really enjoyed reading and watching how the game unfolded.
So, overall, I have not 'won' any of the games, but I have won wonderful experiences, memories and met and seen more of people. Plus, anticipation for when ever I can play again, or watch another game.

I truly hope this will not be the case for me. ;) Actually I'm already having a ton of fun and my game hasn't even started yet. Just plotting and watching the list of signer-uppers grow has been most fun.
As for the original question, I'm not sure I can really answer it either, having only played in three games so far. I feel as if I should try out every role at least once before deciding. :)
When are you going to be playing again, btw? I was thinking of PMing you about my game, but then it filled up much to my surprise so I kind of chucked my "people to PM" list.

(TOREstel)Well, I modded a game at the wrong time--it was finals week on the semester I planned to ace all of my subjects (aced only 3/4, depressing)--so some of the death posts (mostly lynch posts) were not as well as I had hoped. *coughcoughI'mreallysorryKatherine* Some, though, were quite better than I expected (the last-minute 'Freud to death' post for Celuien was one of them).

Notes:
WWJ IV: was suspected the whole time, was completely wrong in all my analyses. First games can sure suck, huh?
WWJ V: was never suspected, (even when it was down to two possibles and a seer's dream ;) ), nominated for rehabilitation, but it was turned down by a mod. (Who had the ghosted other wolves give me a traitor's death for asking.)
WWJ VI: I was right! Whoo-hoo! Accidentally engineered the third wolf's death--on day three. Whoops!
WW XX: Mean ol' Shaman outed me Day 2. And I LOVE being evil! I'm good at it!!
WWJ VIII: Ok, so I was really actually looking forward to being innocent for a while and cool down some of my automatic suspicion. But...alas, 'twas not to be! Bandwaggonned by an errant Goose, who went on to help us win. (Therefore, Saucy is forgiven.)
the phantom

Now, the Phantom was not. He claimed, if I recollect correctly, to have looked at his player's list and picked the three best Werewolf candidates, in his opinion...
Kinda funny that the wolves win so often, yet in the game where they were supposedly 'stacked', they didn't.
No, WW XII was not stacked in favor of the wolves. Yes, I selected wolves that I thought would function well together, but if you remember I also did my best to choose gifteds that I thought would do well in their roles. The last thing I wanted was a stacked game. I wanted a great game- and I got it.
Now, my stats.

Win to lose ratio still below 50:50 but, after a miserable start to my Werewolf career, I have now been on the winning side for three games on the trot.
And I have suffered the indignity of being lynched only once in 10 games. :D

WWJ VIII: Diamod's nasty (but fun) surprises ended me with being lynched by the votes of the duck (wolf) and the goose (cobbler), when only four people were remaining. How nasty a way to lose one's "never lynched" column!

I guess I'll get in on the stats fun:
Games played in: 3 -- JVI, JVII, TiGXX
Games modded: 1 -- JVIII
Ordo: 2
Taker: (Hunter) 1
Everything else: 0
On winning team: 3/3 (100%)
JVI: Stumbled around as a newbie, constantly befuddled because people called me quiet and I felt rather loud. Was nearly lynched on the third day but survived by flip-flopping my votes 3 times and got to strangle the last werewolf with her own cane. Bwa ha ha ha.
JVII: Was the Taker, and killed the Seer in an amazing display of tunnel vision.
TIGXX: Nearly lynched on day 1 for too many in character posts followed by oversleeping for a scandoulously long time so that I wasn't around for most of the day. Managed to talk my way out of it, figured out who one of the orcs were, then did some terribley wrong analysis (implicating, who else, the shaman as one of my main suspects) and eventually got killed at night by the other two orcs.
JVIII: Modded, and managed to confuse, confound, and confuddle a large amount of people. :D

Maybe I should follow Kuru's example and just not count Junior games....although WWJ VIII was about as "senior" a game as I've experienced....
Updating time it seems. I think my record will be about the same

I have a bit of stating fun for the TiG/WWJ games:
For the Junior games thus far:
The villagers have won 4 games.
The werecreatures have won 4 games.
The Seer, the Ranger, and the Hunter have survived only once each.
Comparing this to the Senior games as of TiG VIII:
The werewolves had won 5 games.
The villagers had won 3 games.
The Hunter survived three times.
The Seer survived once.
So it would seem the junior villages have had a slightly higher success rate, but the Senior Gifteds had a slightly higher survival rate.
Combining the two as one big happy Tol-in-Gaurhoth family up to this date:
The werecreatures have won 14 games.
The villagers have won 12 games.
Who cares about the overall Gifted survival rate. I don't.

Wait, Diamond- in Sleepy's game I thought I at least two gifted survived till the end- myself (seer) and Nogrod (ranger). I don't remember who the hunter was that game, or whether they survived, though.
Diamond18

Sleepy's game isn't in the Grimoire so I don't know for sure what happened... but from what I gathered the village won and I thought someone commented that only Ordos survived. But that's secondhand info.
Edit: I have to edit that post anyway, as I see I only counted 7 TiG games. Stupid Roman Numerals. Blah.

Nogrod and I survived as the ranger and the seer, and the villagers won that one. I believe it was WW V or VI.

Okay, Sleepy's game was a bit confusing at the end, because of the narration (which was really good. Technically, these were the stats, though Sleepy may have to come in and correct them:
WWJ V- The Broken Souls
Mod: Sleepy
Werewolves: Jenny, THE Ka, Enca
Seers: Holbytlass, Roa
Hunter: Eonwe
Ranger: Nogrod
Winners: Villagers (sort of)
Alive
Roa_Aoife(Seer) - Babysitter, the blonde, large chested one that always runs upstairs when she should be running out of the house
Nogrod(Ranger) - Post-Structuralist musician
Thinlomien(ii) - Sculpter specialiazing in making nightmarish birds.
Anguirel - Herald at arms
Eonwe - (Hunter) Gold Miner
Valesse(i) - Poultry gender analysist
Dead
Sleepy Ranger (mod) - Impaled on a cupid's arrow with his head nearly cut off.
THE Ka (werewolf) - Moreish Pavlovian Psychologist - Had her legs cut off.
Littlemanpoet (innocent) - Traveling minstrel/bard - Had an eye gouged out and his hair ripped off.
Valier (innocent) - Cruel Duchess - Had her back snapped and wept tears of blood till death.
Witch_Queen (innocent) - Homeless guy - Died due to loss of too much blood through vomitting.
Holbytlass (seer) - Governess
Encaitare (werewolf) - a scientist who specializes in analyzing small pebbles and other silly things
Naria (innocent) - Butcher
Gil-Galad (innocent) - Bell Ringer
JennyHallu (werewolf) - The friendly neighborhood nutcase waving a doomsday sign around
So all three gifted survived. However, with the extra element added by the Mod, anyone who aided in the death of an innocent villager got killed off after the last wolf was killed, so the only survivors were Ang and Eonwe. It was, however, purely narrational, as far as I understood it.
Well, it was Farael's fault... :D
Oh yes of course, it was Farael's fault that you told him I was a wolf.

On winning team: 4

Well, alright. But you were a team, so it's still your fault! :D
Alright, this is here because I have become a tiny, incy, weeny little bit annoyed with continually being told that I am 'not participating as much as usual' in various WW games. I don't know where this misconception that I am a loudmouth has come from, but the numbers below should show you that this is completely untrue, except in certain circumstances which are explained below. Thank you for your time :)
First game (WWIV) – 4 posts – lynched Day 1 (ranger).
Second game (WWV) – 15 posts – survived (mytho turned wolf).
Third game (WWVI) – 7 posts – lynched Day 1 (ranger).
Fourth game (WWVII) – 22 posts – killed Night 6 (seer).
Fifth game (WWIX) – 27 posts – lynched Day 6 (ordo).
Sixth game (WWXIII) – 15 posts – killed Night 3 (ordo).
Seventh game (WWXIV) – 17 posts – lynched Day 5 (ordo).
Eighth game (WWXV) – 21 posts – survived (ordo).
Ninth game (WWJIII) – 54 posts – lynched Day 5 (ordo).
Tenth game (WWXVI) – 10 posts – killed Night 2 (cobbler).
Eleventh game (WWXVII) – 10 posts – lynched Day 6 (ordo).
Twelfth game (WWXVIII) – 18 posts – killed Night 6 (ordo).
Thirteenth game (WWXIX) – 23 posts – lynched Day 3 (wolf).
Fourteenth game (WWJwerecats) – 30 posts – killed Night 5 (ranger).
Fifteenth game (WWJVIII) – 55 posts – survived (duck).
Sixteenth game (WWXXI) - 33 posts – killed Night 7 (ordo turned Seer).
So we can see that:
a) I should never be ranger.
b) I almost always get killed.
c) I only make a lot of posts when in WWJ games because in these I tend to become a loudmouth due to the lack of anyone else taking that role for me. Also because in game 9 I was convinced Ang was a wolf and went after him so hard one day I likely made half those 50 posts all at once, and in game 15 I was the Duck and desperate to stay alive. Otherwise I make no more than about 30 posts, and that's when I'm alive almost the whole game.
d) When I’m evil, I’m good :D
Now, since we're on the subject of numbers, what's your game count up to morm? I lost count ;)

Okay I've finally compiled my games and have the results.
Werewolf Senior Games
Game 1. I lost and I was the seer who was killed by the Wolves though I did dream of Firefoot who was a wolf.
Game 3. I lost and was an ordo killed by the wolves.
Game 5. I won and was a wolf but was lynched.
Game 6. I won and was an ordo who survived.
Game 7. I lost and was the cursed who was lynched.
Game 8. I won and was an ordo who was killed by the wolves.
Game 9. I lost and was the Black Beorning kill being the Shirriff.
Game 11. I lost as the hunter where I was infuratingly lynched but killed the wolf too.
Game 12. I won as an ordo but was a wolf kill.
Game 14. I lost as an ordo and was taken out by hunter Aiwendil
Game15. I won as an ordo and survived.
Game 17. I lost because I was the cobbler and the wolves couldn't pull their own weight ;) .
Game 18. I lost and as the hunter I killed an innocent Kath, but it serves her right :p .
Game 21. I won and started as an ordo but was changed to a wolf early on and was killed by the hunter.
Game 22. I won and was an ordo who survived.
Werewolf Junior Games
Game 6. I won as an ordo and survived.
Game 7. I won as the seeker (seer) but was killed by Hunter Diamond. I dreamt of a wolf.
Game 8. I lost because the blasted village wouldn't listen to me about Kath and I was an ordo who was lynched instead of Kath.
Total Games is 18
Won 9 lost 9
Survived 5 times
WW kill 5 times
Lynched 4 times
Killed by Hunter 3 times that's rather astounding actually.
Killed by Black Beorning once
Ordo 10 times including the cursed villager
Seer twice
Hunter twice
Wolf twice
Cobbler once
Shirriff once
Ranger never

That is beautiful indeed! :p
But I see your stats are impressive! And the trend is somewhat a rising one...
And really I symphatize with your werewolf-weariness (I said it in the wolf PM's, but not in the thread). I've just played 8 games somewhat in a row and modding one feels like heaven now. The next one I will be sub-modding and then, maybe a little break?
But the games are also getting more complicated all the time. We / you learn to play - all of us / all of you learn the tactics and need to respond (well I'm a bit newbie and thence my different pronouns). Just check the ongoing WWJ IX: The Crossing of Helcaraxë, to see the complexity of a very basic game today!
Happy I'm not in it, but only modding... :D

Survived to end of game: 3/7 (WWIV, WWXX, WWXXII)
Win rate: 57%
Lynch rate: 29%
Innocent rate: 100% :p
Notice that when I make it to the end of a game, the village wins. So don't lynch me! I'm always innocent anyway.
But I'm on werewolf hiatus until August because my decreased Net access in July will make extensive use of the refresh button difficult. So it will be a while before we find out if that innocent streak continues...

WWJ VIII: I was turned into an evil duckiness night 2, and though I died Day 3, Kath and the Saucepan Goose lived to bring us the win.
WW XXI: I was turned into a Wolf Night 5, and survived to the end and the win. Once again, the only wolf not ever suspected.
WWJ IX: Cobbler. Never am I good. Don't trust me. Killed Day 2, while I was GONE and UNABLE to defend myself. (Too bad this wasn't Di's game, so I could call "fowl play")

Hmmm, just notcied: LMP and Lommy, don't forget to link to your games! (I've found the links most handy). And Kath, you need to put your game up here! *exerts peer pressure* All the cool mods are doing it!
My statistics:
Games played in: 5 -- JVI, JVII, TiGXX, TiGXXI, JIX
Games modded: 1 -- JVIII
Ordo: 4
Taker: (Hunter) 1
Everything else: 0
On winning team: 4/5 (80%)
JVI: (Return to Midsomer Mawlin) Stumbled around as a newbie ordo, constantly befuddled because people called me quiet and I felt rather loud. Was nearly lynched on the third day but survived by flip-flopping my votes 3 times and got to strangle the last werewolf with her own cane. Bwa ha ha ha.
JVII: (Attack of the Werecats) Was the Taker, and killed the Seer in an amazing display of tunnel vision.
TiGXX: (Wereorcs) Ordo, nearly lynched on day 1 for too many in character posts followed by oversleeping for a scandoulously long time so that I wasn't around for most of the day. Managed to talk my way out of it, figured out who one of the orcs were, then did some terribley wrong analysis (implicating, who else, the shaman as one of my main suspects) and eventually got killed at night by the other two orcs.
JVIII: (Wereducks) Modded, and managed to confuse, confound, and confuddle a large amount of people. :D
TiGXXI: (Dueling Wizards) ARGH! I survived all the way to the end as an Ordo, only to die at the hands of victorious wolves Eomer, Jenny, and Kitanna. I am still smarting from this defeat and intend to exert revenge, someday.
JIX: (Psychotic Penguins) Ordo, again, but figured out Ang was the final Penguin in time to vote for his feathered butt.
And Kath, you need to put your game up here! *exerts peer pressure* All the cool mods are doing it!
I'll get there! I can't put it up until I do the final narration, and I can't do that til these blasted exams are out the way because they take away my creativity :(

I think my survival rate at 50% is pretty good. Also, people keep having the image that I'm lynched very often, but actually I've been lynched only twice; once as a pretty random Day1 lynch and once for a very stupid reason (see wwjVII below).
Comments on each game:
WWJI - My first game. I was totally fooled and led by TORE (and Fea), but luckily they had only good intentions.
WWJIII - My first and only time as a wolf. I was over-nervous. My fenrisation. *glares at the dark elf's sword and the scotsman in the kilt*
WWJIV - It was a real surprise to me to be killed by wolves on Night1
WWJV - My true career in flood-posting and flip-flopping begins.
WWJVII - Lynched for being in Nogrod's list. Ouch.
WWXIX - Nailed SamwiseWolfee. Would have been the ranger if there had been one. *sigh*
WWXXI - What can you say abou that freak, massive, glorious and great dwww-game? Answer: my mother's minions killed me.
WWXXII - I was intorduced to seership and ww-gloating. Loved them both. :D

In detail:
Junior games
WWJ III- My first game I was an innocent who survived almost to the end, but was killed by the last somewhat angry wolf-Ang after I caught wolf-Valier. (With analysis.)
WWJ IV - Wolf, for the first time, lynched after the newest player Nogrod revealed himself as a seer and found me out. Start of a beautiful relationship. :D
WWJ V - Seer, survived to end with the help of ranger Nogrod
WWJ VII- WERECATS! Innocent who survived to end along with Eonwe
WWJ IX - PENGUINS! Innocent who survived to end along with a bunch (Decided here that Valier is scary.)
WWJ X - Wolf, Survived till end with both of my fellow wolves
Not Junior Games
WW XX - Orc (wolf) lynched second to last day due to overly ambitious plan
WW XXI- Evil Wzard, killed two days from end after challenging Gurthang the good wizard, but wolves went on to win the day.
I have been a wolf 3/8 times-not even half the time- so I really don't know where the "Roa is always evil" stigma comes from.
NOTE: I joined WWJ XIII, but I dropped out of my own accord after the second day, so I do not count myself as contributing to that game.

Folwren said the following in the Battle of the Bands Game:
An innocent is more likely to be killed this first day than any of the following!
Well, I'm too much of a geek to let this great opportunity to gather some statistics pass.
I have looked at 31 Werewolf Games (the summaries in the Grimoire or the summaries at the end of the newer games, if there are faults in them, they're in here as well - and probably some new ones..)
Here we go!
Day 1:
# of Ordos lynched: 20
# of Gifteds lynched: 4
# of Baddies lynched: 10
This makes 71% innocents, 29% baddies.
Day 2:
O: 21
G: 4
B: 11
69% innocents, 31% baddies
Day 3:
O: 23
G: 0 (!)
B: 17
58% innocents, 43% baddies
Day 4:
O: 19
G: 3
B: 12
65% innocents, 35% baddies
Day 5:
O: 18
G: 1
B: 10
66% innocents, 34% baddies
Day 6:
O: 11
G: 1
B: 5
71% innocents, 29% baddies
Day 7:
O: 5
G: 0
B: 6
45% innocents, 55% baddies
Day 8:
O: 3
G: 0
B: 0
100% innocents
Over to the conclusions.
- The average is 65% innocents and 35% baddies, so roundabout two thirds of all lynchees were innocent.
- Day 3 and 7 are the lucky days of the village.
- Day 6 is as bad as Day 1.
- If you weren't able to get the last wolf on Day 7, you're screwed.
- Folwren's claim does hold, but not very much. The chance to kill an innocent on Day 1 is just 6% worse than the average, and it's even tied with Day 6.
The chances don't seem rise or fall in a way that would suggest there's some nice function behind it (I was hoping to see something like that, but the identity is nice too). The results go over and under the average as they will.
Does this now mean that intelligence is over-rated and randomness would work just as well? I'm puzzled.

Does this now mean that intelligence is over-rated
I've said that for years. ;)
Seriously, the problem is that there are too many intelligent people who have reasonable theories they want to try and these theories are usually mutually exclusive (to say nothing about mutually destructive)...and then there are the wolves to consider.

Something like this was probably kind of inevitable at some point.
Typically as a given population of players gets more experienced it becomes harder and harder for the wolves to win because it gets harder and harder for them to hide.
Increase over time of Seer-savvy, for one thing...

I've never done this before, but I suppose I'll just give in and post my measly statistics.
WW5 - Guardian - Killed Night 3 - Losing Side
WWVII - Hunter - Killed Night 3 - Losing Side
WWIIX - Cobbler - Lynched Day 6 - Losing Side (Pretty much)
WWIX - Ordinary - Killed Night 6 - Losing Side
WWXXII - Ordinary - Survived till the end - Winning Side
WWXXIII - Ordinary - Survived till the end - Winning Side
WWXXIV - Ordinary - Survived till the end - Winning Side
It's going to really suck when I finally am a wolf (well, if I ever am). Three survivals in a row ain't too bad, I suppose, even if it is only out of luck. I really have no idea how I manage to avoid getting lynched...

One idea (presented in the TiG-thread is that we play knowingly "differently"). So taking a costume of someone else or just taking on another style.

Possibly. But don't you kind of have to specify which lovers, I mean, there were a number...
Yes but it was such a hybrid game that I feel the line should be drawn somewhere. It was a game of lovers though they were the primary evil such as werewolves in a 'normal' game but it wouldn't be correct to classify them under 'the three'. To call them a split is more accurate yes, but I see no harm in sumarizing that they were simply lovers and it's irrelevant which type of lovers. But Kuru this is your desk and I don't want to scatter too many papers :D

I don't consider the Werebear from my game to be the same as a Black Beorning, since in this game she functioned no differently than the Cat, Wolf, and Bird. The species of were was, in this case, purely for narrative purposes and had no bearing (har har) on actual gameplay.
Bottom line, I would just say the Lovers won 25. There were only two options for the game, a single pair of Lovers winning or the Innocent Elves winning. The Lovers did not have the exact plight that Nilp and Cailín's Lovers had, but they were in danger from other baddies, so they were more like the other versions of Lovers than they were a traditional wolf pack.

1. When I die, my side loses more often than not.
2. When I live to the end, my side ALWAYS wins.
3. Never lynch Lhuna when she's being careless, because that means she's innocent.
4. Something's always up when Lhuna's being so sane.
5. I'm not meant to be a normal Seer.
6. Lovers CAN win.
A Lovers' victory was more possible in Di's game than in Nilp's and Cailín's type of game, but who knew the Lovers could actually win! This is an excellent time to retire. :D

Played in - junior: I, III, IV, V, VII, XI, XII, XIII; normal: XIX, XXI, XXII, XXIV, XXV, XXVII, XXIX, XXX
Modded - junior IX - The Psychotic Penguins: The Crossing of Helcaraxë
Number of played games: 16
Ordinary Villager: 12 (75%)
Werewolf: 1 (6,3%)
Seer: 2 (12,5%)
Hunter: 1 (6,3%)
On winning team: 9 (56,25%)
On losing team: 7 (43,75%)
Survived to end: 6 (37,5%)
Lynched: 4 (25%)
Killed by Wolves or other nasty things: 6 (37,5%)
The more experienced I've got, the more probably my death has been caused by wolves. (Maybe that's obvious or then just random.)
I'm ordo 75% of the times, though the normal ordo-percent would be around 67% (if all games were "standard" villages of fifteen players, three gifteds and three wolves).
What else? My "On winning team" percent has decreased since my last grimoire update.

WWJ IV - Wolf, for the first time, lynched after the newest player Nogrod revealed himself as a seer and found me out. Start of a beautiful relationship.
WWJ V - Seer, survived to end with the help of ranger Nogrod
WWJ VII- WERECATS! Innocent who survived to end along with Eonwe

WW XXVI - Villager, killed at random by moderator
WW XXIX - Villager, killed by wolves after only 4 hours of play
WW XXX - Cobbler, outed by the seer Rikae on Day Two, most fun ever
WW XXXI - Hunter, took wolf-lomien with me on Night 4
WW XXXII - Innocent, killed Night 2
WW XLII (volo's game)- Werewolf. Killed in 3-way combat on the second Day

Hmmm, my first game is also at the same time the last that has ever been summed up here. So I guess the duty is on me to keep this going. :)
I'm going to post the outcomes of the games depending on when I have the time (it's more than 20!).
(edit: if I'm getting anything wrong, which I'm doubtlessly going to do, please pm me)

Sorry to interrupt, Mac, but Cailín just realised she has an outstanding narration to fill in. From almost 2 years ago. :D So thanks for reminding her. She wants me to stress how embarrassed she is about this. Nevertheless, it will surely entice Jenny and Formendacil to visit the Downs again, to see how they perished on that cold, doomed ship.

WWJ XI (Glirdan and wilwarin538): Ranger, survived to end, won.
My first game and probably the game in which I was of most use. Talked nonsense and went by gut feelings. Pretty much regarded self immortal. Managed to block Nogwolf's kills twice and in the end voted him out, that started a long tradition of suspecting him whenever he was Innocent. Looking back, which I shouldn't, I left so many things unnoticed...
WW XXIV (Sleepy Ranger): Wolf, lynched on Day1, lost.
Was lynched because I said too much in-character stuff, while I thought that WW was always played in an in-character way (thanks to Glirdan's game). Became a Fenris. I don't actually think that I've read what happened in the game after I died.
WWJ XII (Valier): Ordo, survived to end, won.
Oh dear... A game in which I was so obsessed in getting Nogrod lynched that I ended up in quite an embarrassing situation. A funny and odd game, but out of balance.
WWJ XIII (JennyHallu): Ordo, lynched on Day5, lost.
Badly played, I was quite an angsty ordo not caring about what happened. I even missed a Day or two. Well, by the time I began playing, I got lynched. Though I must say that I was right about Valierwolf.
WW XXIIX (Oddwen): Wolf, lynched on Day4, won.
My better time as a Wolf. Was a team with Holbytlass and Nilpaurion Felagund. Took quite a commanding role because Nilp missed Day1, and this was a mistake because I was still just a newbie and didn't hunt for the Seer (Durelin), whom Nilp would have caught. Dury got me lynched. I must say that the victory wasn't fair, because all three of the Wolves missed a Day. The theme and the theme-song were brilliant.
WW XXIX (Nogrod): Ordo, lynched on Day1, won.
Talked a lot of nonsense and got lynched. Pity, because the game was interesting and had great roles.
WW XXXII (Volo and Kath): Mod.
The game that ended my newbie-time of WW and the one that I enjoyed a great big deal, having planned it for seven months. It was quite unbalanced and annoying, it also included other flaws, but it was something never done before nonetheless.
WW XXXIII (Rikae): Medium, lynched on Day4, lost.
The crazy game which would have gone completely differently had I been less depressed at the time and had Rikae not sent me a PM on Day2. And had I kept to the moral roles of WW. This was my greatest success in WW from one perspective since I managed to bluff immortality convincingly and caught a Macwolf my telling him that I had dreamt of him, while I hadn't. However I went too far and got lynched by an annoyed mob, along with Mac. Congratulations, Wolves!
WW XXXIV (The Saucepan Man): Ordo, lynched on Day6, lost.
Played ok and spotted a Wolf or two, but couldn't get them lynched. Started out by trying to suspect people I found least suspicious and was quite right using that strategy, pity it confused people too much to be used later. Got lynched on the last Day for not explaining myself well enough, did vote for Sixth-Wolf though. Great experimental game: two Wolf-teams with three each and the roles of Shapeshifter, Priestess and Thief. Must try a similar format again!
WW XXXV (Legate of Amon Lanc and Volo): Co-mod.
Didn't actually do but write a few narrations close to the end of the game, while the idea was that I'd talk during the Days too. Don't really remember much, except that Legate's concept was amazing.
WW XXXVIII (Gil-Galad): Ordo, lynched on Day3, won.
A tiny game of nine players. Had interesting roles, but Xyzzy-Wolf messed things up. To say the truth, so did I taking a true bluff as a joke. Would have lost too, had the two Gifteds (Nogrod and Legate) not noticed a way that would secure victory. Was fun as long as it lasted, I mean until I noticed that I was the only one joking.
WW XXXIX (Thinlómien and Aganzir): Cobbler-lover, killed on Night2, lost.
Stayed too low on Day1 and got killed. I was in such a panic that Day! I don't want to be a Cobbler ever again. By the end of Day2 I was cheering for the Innocent side to win. This must be the only game when two players got lynched by just one vote...
WW XXXX (Nogrod): Ordo, survived to end, lost.
The game I tried to win the most, and ended up wronger than ever. Caught Lilywolf on Day2, but was completely confused after that, although I did suspect Macwolf at one time. Somehow I feel that I'll never have enough trust in putting all one's effort into WW to do that again.
WW XLII (Volo and Legate of Amon Lanc): Mod.
Another experimental game from me, beating even SPM and LMP on having the most Wolves. The game didn't end up balanced. I'll try not to read the narrations again because I feel that they were quite good and crazier than most. I still need to finish a few pages though, before I can truly say that this game is over.
WW XLIV (Aganzir): Ordo, suvived to end, lost.
Didn't concentrate much in the beginning and couldn't trust my suspicions that, in the end, were more right than before. Survived to the end pretty much because others were convincing that I'm always eccentric - am I? Was reminded to remember earlier suspicions and saw that I should play more bravely.
Played games: 12.
As Innocent: 7.
As Special: 3.
As Wolf: 2.
Games won: 5.
Games Lost: 7.
Survived to end: 4.
Survived to end and won: 2.

It is not 100% accurate, it includes all those players who signed in but never turned up and it is more probable than possible that I made a mistake somewhere. Nevertheless, I think it's quite interesting. :D And I should probably congratulate Kath for being the coolest and having the least life. ;)
PS. No, don't ask how long doing that took... I will only answer it would have taken even longer had Saucie and Mac not provided some summaries on this thread. So thank you two once again. :)
And I should probably congratulate Kath for being the coolest and having the least life.
Why thank you. :D
Hey morm! You were ahead of me for a while there but 3 behind now ... better catch up. :p

WWJI - ordo, survived to the end, on the winning side
I reread this game a while ago and was shocked... I was very silly, believed everything I was told by more experienced players, did not even turn up on Day1 and failed to vote on Day2 and everybody kept accusing me for being too silent. Funny, isn't it?
WWJIII - wolf, lynched on Day1, on the losing side
I think everybody knows how a certain fellow of mine betrayed me and I got fenrised (although, looking back it was mostly my own fault since I was too scared to even defend myself), so I need not repeat that history here, do I?
WWJV - ordo, killed on Night2, on the losing side
I remember being disappointed that I died so early. The thing I remember best of this game was seer-Nogrod's and wolf-Roa's duel and Roa's infamous slip "I've never been a wolf before". Oh, it was great.
WWJV - ordo, survived to the end, on the winning side
This was the game I became a flood-poster in and probably the first game from which you can recognise my characteristic playing style... although I was very newbiestic and quite silly even back then. What I wonder is how all the newcomers nowadays become such good players so quickly.... very unlike me.
WWXIX - ordo, survived to the end, on the winning side
My first non-junior game (there still used to be a difference between junior and non-junior games) and I think I did quite well. For the first time in my ww career I was the one to spot a wolf no one else had really spotted, make a case against him and get him lynched... I remember I enjoyed the feeling quite a lot.
WWJVI - ordo, lynched on Day3, on the winning side
This game was slightly disastrous. The majority of the village concluded that one of the wolves' name begins with a "T" (it looked like that in the narration although it turned out to be not true at all) so I got lynched, especially as I wasn't too innocent looking anyway.
WWXXI - ordo, killed by wolves on Night6, on the losing side
Dueling Wizards, a great game. I was Roa and Sleepy's little daughter and Glirdan and Caranlondien were my older siblings... the roleplaying was great and being in Roa the Evil Wizard's family kept me alive that long since she claimed she tried to save us for as long as she could. Ironically, Caran the Ranger died the same Night I did... evil Roa, killing both her daughters the same Night...
WWJIX - modded with Nogrod
It was great, we had so much fun writing the narrations. They were combinations of alternate Silmarillion, mindless splatter, philosophical jokes and silly dialogue. The game itself was really short, the village lynch list was ww, cobbler, ww and ww, but likewise the wws (or wps, to be precise, they were werepenguins) killed ranger on Night1 and seer on Night2.
WWXXII - seer, survived to the end, on the winning side
This is one of the games I rememember most fondly. I was the seer and caught both the remaining wolves, came out and finished the game. Although, it wasn't that neat, an evil wolf-Nogrod contested my claim (and I think this was the first contesting claim in ww history) and almost convinced a couple of villagers before slipping "happily, I'm not a gifted, so you can lynch me". Then in the end, he admitted he had been bluffing and we innocents won. I gloated so much after the game. And I will always remember Nogrod's valiant effort.
WWJXI - ordo, survived to the end, on the winning side
This was quite an exciting game and the wolf-Nogrod almost won.
WWXXIV - seer, survived to the end, on the winning side
Another seer success. Nailed wolvish Boro and then we innocents logically concluded Eonwe was his fellow and lynched him too.
WWJXXI - ordo, lynched on Day1, on the winning side
I'm still shocked that they dared to lynch me on Day1 even though I was innocent. :p
WWXXV - ordo, killed on Night3, on the losing side
It was an interesting game (four different werecreatures and each had a lover) and ended too soon for my part.
WWJXIII - ordo, killed on Night6, on the losing side
I will never ever forget this game. The extremely cunning Valier wolf killed me on the last Night although everybody was expecting her to take down the known innocent Nogrod. Her move baffled all the few remaining innocents completely and she won. Later she said she had killed me because she had feared I would get her lynched.
WWXXVIII - ordo, killed on Night7, on the losing side
Another game in which I died on the last Night and the wolves won. *sigh*
WWXXIX - ordo, lynched on Day4, on the winning side
I remember nothing of this game except that I kept calling Anguirel James Bond because of his assassin role...
WWXXX - hunter, killed on Night7, on the losing side
One of my most miserable games ever. As the hunter, I had lists of 2-4 people (depending on the size of the village) and every single Night I had at least one wolf (more than one, a couple of times) in there except of course the Night I was killed. Disastrous.
WWXXXI - werewolf, killed by Roa the hunter on Night4, on the losing side
This many games under my belt and only the second time I was a wolf. It was horrible. My feelows were Glirdy and Xyzzy and we all had terrible problems getting online. We failed to kill anyone on Night2 because of some arrangement problems and I died because I left the final kill choice to my fellow Xyzzy who decided to kill Roa whom I would definitely have not dared to kill... she truned out to be the hunter and took me with her, it was a disaster. But I think I would have been lynched the next Day anyway.
WWXXXII - ordinary lover, survived to the end, on the winning side
This was a funny game. Mac the Cobbler was my lover and I was lead to believe he was just as innocent as I was... thinking about it now, I should have known there was something wrong with it. He was forced to reveal his real role when I questioned him after giving one of the most suspicious person in the whole village a right to kill. But in the end, he lost, I won. :D
WWXXXIII - ranger/assassin, killed on Night3, on the losing side
I had a very interesting role and died before I could really try the advantages of it. Nevertheless I almost killed Volo the Seer because he claimed he had some weird role that made him unkillable...
WWXXXIV - ordo, lynched on Day5, on the losing side
I still can't believe Boro didn't make his superpower role up. ;)
WWXXXVII - ordo, killed on Night2, on the winning side - sort of
To be honest, I remember nothing excpet that Rikae was phenomenal.
WWXXXVIII - werewolf, lynched on Day2, on the losing side
I was a werewolf, a complete nervous wrack since my only fellow never turned up and I was all alone and played miserably badly especially as I was faced by a gifted team who could pm with each other and a macalaure aka an automatic lommywolf-spotter.
WWXXXIX - modded, assisted by Aganzir
Another lovely modding experience and having lots of fun.
WWXXXX - ordo, killed on Night5, on the losing side
I spotted a newbie Greeniewolf, but other than that, was completely off in my suspicions. The wolves played all too beautifully.
WWXXXXII - wolf, survived to the end, on the winning side
A hilarious game. I had lovely fellows (Aganzir, Brinn, sally and Valier were the ones who survived alongside with me) and was haunted by the assassin/hunter Nogrod. Fortunately he decided to take Rikae the seer with him instead of me and I got immortality so I could not be lynched next and we wolves won very easily assisted by McCobbler.
WWXXXXIII - ordo, killed on Night2, on the losing side
I was wrong about most things again but did have fun following the game after my death. Also, two wolves apologised to me personally because they had killed me so early. It was odd.
It seems I'm always an ordo. It's the nicest role, so no complaints really, but... It is also quite astonishing how often I've survived to the end.
And there's something wrong in my maths concerning how many games I've played but it would be too big a work to sort it out.... *sigh*
Wow, this is veeeeeeeeery long. If someone reads this s/he's got to be mad...

Is it just me, or have the wolves been turning the tide lately?
Well over a year ago, I wrote that Werewolf seemed to be turning more and more toward the villagers as they became better at picking out a wolf. Now, though, I've noticed the wolves seem to have won the last two games.
Are the wolves now getting better to match the villagers?
I don't know how many games have been played on this wide Internet of ours, but I honestly think we've got to be running one of the longest series of Werewolf games out there. I for one would love to see it keep reaching new heights.

And lastly, the results are probably incorrect: I think I've played in 24 games, not in 26 as I listed, so who knows...

I was also wondering about the same thing, and it's not only two games, the last game I remember that the Innocent won is Gil's game, and that was ages ago...

Well, bear in mind there have been a few experimental games lately that were designed in such a way as to be particularly challenging to the village (I mean, 7 wolves? No gifteds?)
Not that I'm complaining. :)
