As promised, the new character's biography:
NAME: Elrogorn son of Elrohir
AGE: Same as the entire Fourth Age, minus about ten years.
RACE: Dúnedain of Arnor/Noldorin Elf.
GENDER: Male
WEAPONS: Silver-hilted sword, longbow, quiver of arrows, dagger.
APPEARANCE: Unfairly handsome, Elrogorn is tall, with long, dark hair, brilliant blue eyes, strong and muscular- and tanned. Moves gracefully.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Elrogorn is a polite, charming, and dashing, with a streak of heroic recklessness at times- which can get him into trouble.
HISTORY: The son of Elrohir, son of Elrond (and thus nephew to Aragorn and Arwen), Elrogorn is also the son of a totally non-canonical blonde half-Elf/half-Arnorian Ranger Princess. As soon as Mordor began to receive assignees, Elrogorn was among the first assigned. Half-Elven Shield-surfers (a trait learned from his "uncle" Legolas) are, quite simply, NOT canonical. His mother was assigned too, but she died in a tragic attack by Wereducks (also being assigned) on their way into Mordor. His father, Elrohir, is believed to have long disappeared into the West, never to mention his wife or son again. Elrogorn, resigned to a life in Mordor, has made it his life's passion to hunt down and destroy all Wereducks he can.
There he is, people... my very non-Canonical new character. He will be in Mordor until the day he dies.

Thanks, LMP... I had already talked this over with Fea, though, so I knew I was in the clear. But your approval is much appreciated.
But really....
What is more likely to belong in Mordor than a Half-Elven, Dripping-of-fanfiction, noncanonical spawn of some poor maligned (and Elven) character?
But the appreciation is much appreciated.

NAME: Bellatrix Lestrange, neé Black
AGE: Bellatrix would never tell, and would kill anyone who asked.
RACE: Human and Pureblood Wizard
GENDER: Female
WEAPONS: A slender, pitch-black wand which she flexes about at moments of stress. Without it she is still capable of casting quite a lot of magic, but is weakened. She also possesses a bullwhip for special occasions and has mastered the use of a Beretta pistol.
APPEARANCE: Bellatrix was once a universally acknowledged beauty, and is still pretty dashed glamorous in a wasted, Baudelaire muse sort of way, though her thirteen years in Azkaban have lined her face and left her with dramatically hooded eyes. She wears a tattered black dress, fishnet stockings and stiletto heels that, naturally, contain stiletto daggers. She reminds the viewer, strangely, both of Helen McCrory and Helena Bonham-Carter.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Bellatrix is one of the greatest living experts in the Dark Arts. She is also a mistress of Occlumency and knows a bit of Legilimency, though she’s secretly embarrassingly bad at it. Her weaknesses include a propensity to arbitrarily worship tall, dark, evil figures, addiction to pretty much everything, and a character about as sweet and loving as an anaconda.
HISTORY: Bellatrix has badly gone to seed while waiting for Book 7. Getting bored of the dead weight of her husband Rodolphus, she got a cheap divorce at Lost Angles and found on her wanderings in search of Dark Lords to worship the Evil Single Ladies Motel. Here she resided for a long while, hanging out with Jadis, the Lady of the Green Kirtle, Mrs Coulter, Rosa Klebb and Shelob. It was a wild life and has steeped her still further in decadence, but after a row with Jadis she left for the castle of the King of Mordor himself...

Ah, I know.
It appeared, suddenly, and unnoticed by Hyarmenwë and Maika when it was Assigned to Mordor for being a talking horse. Named "Staddle". Yeah, that's it.
Meaning... I don't know, but discontinuity is Mordor's stock in trade. Don't worry about it. Your post can deal with the interior the tavern and such, and I can follow up with the rubber were-duckie in the post thereafter. And having a talking horse for Elrogorn might be just what he needs.

There is nothing quite as annoying as a truly bored cat. Rune Son of Bjarne
Name: Frej Baldersbane (Spie of Mordor)
Age: 20
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Weapons: A Sword, in length 37" with deep fullers running the length, with a single handed hilt.
Appearance: Frej is 6’3’’ tall and slender build yet fit. He has long blond hair and bright blue eyes. In these days he is probably the closest one would come to an elf. However he does lack the splendid voices of the fair people and when he sing people run of screaming, it has been suggested that it is the very reason that he ended up in Mordor.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Although his name suggests it, he has never killed anybody and probably never will, he is a spy not a worrier. If needed he can wield a sword with great skill, but he prefers not to. By his work as one of Allis spies Frej has learned not to trust people, it has been a tough battle for him to adapt this skill as it goes against his very trusting nature. Sometimes he falls back into his old habit of trusting people, but he does his best to hide it from his employer. He has a ambivalent relationship to his spymaster. At once he is intrigued by her, wanting to please her and do whatever he can to complete the tasks he is given by her satisfactory and still he is frightened and intimidated by her and feel a bit of despise towards her for not recognising his value.
HISTORY: Frej was assigned only a mere 5 years ago, the rumours will know it was for starting something called a rock band. Other rumours say that that the other band members escaped assignment as they were actually talented, nobody really knows and Frej is certainly not going to tell.

Hee hee! :D Funny stuff. But I would appreciate if you could un-comic-book-ize Anakron juuuuust a wee bit:
"You! Dwarf!" Anakron called, turning to the dwarf, "You ignored me. Why?"
Anakron stared at the Dwarf, hardly believing his eyes and ears. "How can you be certain?"
Anakron's teeth clenched and his brow lowered menacingly. "Do you not know who I am?" he grated.
Anakron ignored her.
"Dwarf! Come back here!" he called. Smilog stopped and turned around. Anakron felt suddenly vindicated and said with a note of triumph, "So, you have been ignoring me!" He paused for effect, then in a growl said, "You will pay."
Anakron nodded patiently. "Just answer my question."
"No wonder people assault him with such regularity!" said Anakron.
I um guess that's quite a bit of editing, but well, that would put him more in character..... :p

I planned for Lola to be dragged rather unwillingly aboard Rune's little bandwagon. She doesn't really like tea: she only drinks bottled water and cosmopolitans. However, she'd find the inclusion of a pubescent teenage boy with a desire to protect her honor or some such rot (and rather more ability than any teenage boy has any right to have) infinitely amusing, and she might just come along for the fun and laughs associated with making sure the two don't ever get along.

Hi folks.
How's it going? How is everybody?
I notice that we're running a little slow. Running dry on creativity? Confused? Buried with work? Captured by really big spaghetti monsters?
How about we make a master list of what still needs to be done to make life easier for everyone? We can weave plotlines together all we want, but a list of what should be taken care of before The End might be helpful.
So if you could take a moment or so to answer these questions:
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
We can all read what's been written. We know what's currently going on in the story.
What we need to do is start tying up loose ends and pulling the plot back in again.
What I would like to happen is for everybody to, nearing the end, come face to face with the Blue Wizards. Before we can reach that climax, though, we need to simplify a little. You've done wonderfully in writing your characters into fun situations. You've done exactly what I hoped you'd do. But now we need to bring the diplomats back together (physically) so that they can face their greatest challenge thus far, making their ice breaker and ice cream difficulties seem (gasp!) trivial in comparison.
Celuien
10-18-2006, 10:44 AM
It was a curious thing. A Giant Spaghetti Monster flew overhead and made me go to work. ;)
In all seriousness, Panakeia currently has a cozy place to rest in the hippie valley. I'm planning a few posts to chronicle her time there, then she'll be back with her new-found friends to meet those blue Istari who ruined her romance whenever they make their reappearance.
Hookbill the Goomba
10-18-2006, 11:02 AM
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Personally, I want to kill him off right at the end in a big shocking climax that no one will expect... ... erm... ignore all that.
Seriously, I want him to quit working for Roggie and go off on his own adventures into the mists of time...
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
A little more aware of how annoying he is, but still refusing to do anything about it.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Smilog is trying to get back to Mount Doom.
Tollin and The Barrow Wight ate investigating the Were Ducks.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Get back to Mount Doom and confront Roggie with his resignation.
Formendacil
10-18-2006, 01:37 PM
We're nearing the end? Doesn't feel like it, I must say...
Unfortunately, Lhuna and I keep each other at a good slow pace, our stories being rather entangled...
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
To have found his daughter, and either made arrangements to bring her back to Gondor, to stay behind with her, or to be sadly, lovingly, tearfully parted.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
Not too much. Old men are set in their ways. But possibly to have softened. A bit.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Meeting Bobawen in the tavern, thinking she is his daughter, finding out if she is, and being generally entangled with Elrogorn who needs to have a blockbuster, adrenaline-filled battle with an army of wereducks.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Erm... besides that army of wereducks... we'll see.... I don't know exactly.
Feanor of the Peredhil
10-18-2006, 04:17 PM
We're nearing the end? Doesn't feel like it, I must say...
It's not so much that we're nearing the end...
Think of it more like we're nearing the place in the story where things really start to lead toward other stuff that leads to the end. ;)
This is just an organizational idea I had so that we can get a good idea of what needs to be written at some point in the future.

What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Mayhem. Confusion. Killing things.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
Ha ha! Change is for the sane.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Hunting Wereducks, standing by ineffectually while other people make Hissyfit do funny things.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
There should be a massive battle with wereducks. Many innocents will die before then.
Anguirel

What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Having thoroughly confused everyone and then revealed himself as a pawn of evil, he needs to redeem himself with some last minute deed.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
He should be content with his true nature as an angelic-looking blond sweetie and leave behind (ish) his superiority complex.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Stalking Lola ineffectively, looking for Alli to keep their appointment and accuse her of lycanthropy, and trying to dodge the Blue Wizards and Auntie Bellatrix who he double-crossed.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Give up on Lola, change sides a few more times, be exposed as a Werewolf, change sides again, betray the Blue Wizards again, defeat Fenrir Greyback and be cured of lycanthropy by Severus Snape.
While negotiating the treaty and all that jazz.

What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Help Hyarmenwë find his daughter, and continue living her *ehem* happy life.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
She should have forgiven Dracomir and decided to let her hair down (at least literally) for the rest of her life.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Helping Hyarmenwë find his daughter. Specifically, meeting Bobawen in the tavern, doubting she is his daughter, finding out if she is, and being generally entangled with Elrogorn who needs to have a blockbuster, adrenaline-filled battle with an army of wereducks (that only because Elrogorn insists they're a fellowship of some sort, but I'm quite sure all she'll do is stand and watch until someone pulls her away from the battle scene).
I'm not quite sure if you're having a deja vu.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
I think she desperately wants to flash a sweet grin at Dracomir, but I'm worried that there might not be any mandrakes in Mordor should he be too late in shouting "Expelliarmus!" or disarming her in any other manner. In any case, she has to teach him a lesson. Somehow.
Other than the whole revenge thing, she needs to know if she really wants out of Mordor, and how to convince Roggie if she does. All the while doing her job as a Mordorian ambassador.
Feanor of the Peredhil

Being fair and all...
---
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story? Alli needs to get over Mardil, work out her feelings for Aimè, figure out why Illamatar isn't talking to her, do something about it, and have a climactic werewolf confrontation that may or may not involve Blue Wizards and Malfoidacil.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end? She should lose her Sight with good grace and develop some sense of normalcy.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing? Hiding out from werewolves that will attack as soon as they discover her Sight. Getting Aimè to take her to the graveyard. Looking cool.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal? She needs to have a few deep thoughts, get to the graveyard, have a deep conversation with Aimè, a Long Awaited Chat with Malfoidacil, a bonding moment with Illamatar, and a climactic battle scene.
--
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story? Roggie of Morgoth should develop a nice strong backbone, calm his temper, and actually take responsibility for his realm.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end? He will end on good terms with Mardil and will learn how to make decisions without any advisors. He will start to like his job.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing? Moping, lurking, possibly drinking. Wishing he was still acting.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal? Have a private meeting with Mardil. Have a Deep Thought.
---
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story? Illamatar should have a bit of fun intervening at random intervals. Really, that's about it.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end? He shouldn't.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing? Watching life like it's television.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal? Play mind games for his own amusement. Maybe nudge a small creature into a volcano to stop the world from ending. That sort of thing.

My major trouble here is that I don't have a good idea of what I'm doing or trying to accomplish. I intended for Lola to be more of a cameo, and only incidental to the storyline, but she insists on hanging around and bothering the menfolk and her over-booked writer. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, Rune. GTalk won't let me log in for some reason. I don't know when I'll have the time to write for Lola but I will try as soon as I can.
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Lola is pleased with herself and her life, and she's content enough not to worry about accomplishment much. Her current job allows her to do pretty much whatever she pleases, which suits her.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
Change is for less attractive people.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Proving to Draco and Frej that they aren't worthy.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Not much, really.

What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Anakron is to have become reconciled to being the Grand Anakronist, AND get hooked up permanently with Panakeia. Whether he will succeed, however .......
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
He will become less hung up.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
ISMing everybody in sight.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Get really mean ISMing folks, start a war, cause mass annihilation of orcs, trolls, and other former Mordorian baddies who have become various kinds of ISMs, get confronted by the Blue Istari who make him get his head straight, fall deeper in love with his erstwhile female side-kick, and get hitched up.... and enjoy it. :p
Any more questions?
Celuien

Filling in the rest of the form...
What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Panakeia would like to hear wedding bells for Anakron and herself. She'd also like to convince him to drop the Grand Anakronist job, but whether or not she'll achieve that goal remains to be seen.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
Hopefully freed of any of the ISMs she has picked up...or will be picking up. ;) Become a little less self-righteous and lose some of her tendency to slightly pompous speeches directed at Anakron.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Wearing flowers in her hair and living with hippies.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Make it back from her current residence, probably bringing the Werehippies with her, confront the Blue Wizards and Anakron (again), be involved in general chaos, and (hopefully) get Anakron to come to his senses. :p

What do I want my character to have accomplished in this story?
Igor should have regained the lost accent over his name, had a wealth of new experiences, and just had a good time really.
How should my character have changed, if at all, before the end?
Apparently he should have developed full use of both eyes, as well as learning that people really are as mad as he always thought they were.
What is my character currently in the midst of doing?
Watching Anakron go steadily more crazy in the midst of various other Mordorians. Attempting not to get attacked by Hissyfit and/or Skittles.
What does my character still need to do to meet my end goal?
Very little. Standing around ineffectually and accosting people in hallways seems to be working.

I'm sure you've noticed I've been absent from ATM for a long time. I want to apologise, both for the absence and the lack of an apology earlier.
At first, I lost some interest because the posts in ATM seemed to be dying down and the story didn't seem to be heading towards any sort of rational goal. Lately, as my blog readers will know, I've been very busy with university applications. I have free time, but I'm too drained to write. All this university business should be over by mid-December, which will also coincide with a two-week break from school; hopefully, the RPG will not have ended by then. If we're still going, I will try my best to catch up then.
Feel free to do anything appropriate to Angawen,
Jay

Guys: NO APOLOGIES.
If you think a story is more important than university or than health and well-being, I perhaps need to teach you new ideas.
It's a story I'm working on, so obviously it's the most important story in the world, but sometimes priorities simply must be made.
Don't worry about it. Don't feel like you have to apologize.

Sort of.
I'm a little wrapped up in WW and work and work and work at the moment. I've been trying to think of funny things for Skittles to do. So far all I have is two options:
1) "What? Who? Where am I? What is my name? What is my purpose in life?" Skittles said, coming out of her trance.
2) "Okay, Mr. Big Stuff. Hit me with your best shot," said Skittles saucily.

Feanor is absent for a while. When she'll be back I don't know. The only thing I do know is that every writer's primary character is supposed to have a run-in with the Blue Istari. What that is supposed to look like is, I imagine, up to the writer so long as it does not violate as yet unknown exceptions Feanor may have. That's all I know.

Get your characters to the graveyard Alli's hiding in in a plausible fashion. There will be an epic (read: clichèd and HUGE) battle with the Blue Wizards (talk to alatar and Anguirel about that sort of thing) wherein Ang's character will probably switch sides a few times (?), everybody will have to fight, Anakron will likely be doing things Dweomer-related, and... werewolves will attack.
Yeah. That works. Epic graveyard battle. Cheesiest horror flick you've ever seen. The sort with exaggerated looks of extreme 'terror' and the sort of lightening that strikes on cue.
Sorry I'm not around, sorry I won't be around.
Just keep in mind that this is the climax of the story and that the battle should tie stuff together and be <highlight>HUGE</highlight>

Anakron will likely be doing things Dweomer-related, He cannot as he's (at least mostly) dead. If you wish him revived as he was, you will need, I must kindly insist, to write him instead of me doing so. My apologies as this probably messes up some plans.

No apologies necessary. Any plans I had got shot when I disappeared from life and forgot them all. Besides, this isn't my story, it's ours. Don't wait for me. Finish it. If you decide you don't want a graveyard battle... don't have one.

That said, I'm still planning to be around whenever possible, and even if Panakeia doesn't participate in the battle, she will be very eager to see it, as she has a few scores to settle with the illustrious Istari. ;)

The Blue Istari have killed (mostly) Anakron because he refused to continue to be the Grand Anakronist. They are manipulators of everyone. They have said they're going to "exterminate" the Dwarf (sorry Hookbill, I forget his name :( ) and his father. They must be responsible for the werewolf, who is also Tom Felton/the Harry Potter evil kid. They are up to no good and there will be a major battle that they are obviously causing.
So basically, anything that's going wrong is their fault.
So they're evil. Or maybe they're not but just seem to be. That's where the fun lies, seems to me. :D
Those are my thoughts. Hope they help.

A battle. Working together to make it as [melo]dramatic as possible.
If we can tie as many subplots as possible to this battle, I'd be delighted.
Don't worry about plausibility of denouement. Illamatar exists in this story for a reason. Make it as impossible a fix to get out of as you like.
Battle. End of battle. I've been toying with the idea of Roggie and Mardil signing the treaty on their own out of impatience just as Illamatar ends the war with the Wizards.
And then closing posts sending people off to wherever they need to be.

Argh! Fea, have I missed the boat, or shall I have Tom turn up now for the long expected arrangement?
Have him turn up. An idea would be maybe for Tom and Alli to be left alone together in the tomb while maybe everybody else joins the Smilog incident with the Wizards?
Nobody has reason to think it might be a bad idea to leave the two alone and it would up the tension of the situation...
Or if you have a different idea?

So Alli and Aime are in the crypt, having gone "thump", and Panakeia, Elempí and "colleagues" have just heard said "thump", and are ready to investigate, which apparently blue-gloved investigation is apparently going to end in the .... uh ... 'end' of some red-shirt? Is that where we're going with this?
I'm trying to figure out Elempí too. He is of course the heart and soul of Anakron, that which lacks all the foolish ambition (though not foolishness) :p ..... and all he wants to do is get outta there! and back to Umbar and be a humble and too talkative professor again. I think. No, he dares to hope to hope that Panakeia will see through all the urbanity of Anakron to the squeamish heart of Elempí :D . Well heck, I think I can build a post out of that. If I understand aright, you can edit any post I put on the thread? What power! But it does mean that I can blame any bad storytelling on you changing my words. :p

I can edit my posts.
Which means I can copy and paste your words into my own mouth. Mwahahaha.
Since I'm currently more concerned with continuity than bad storytelling (that and I trust your ability), no worries about me changing anything. :p
I'm editing your words into my post. You'll want to delete.

I was thinking that The Barrow Wight isn't 'dead' and returns. This distracts Alatar and he tries to catch him but Palando tells him to concentrate on the army. Or something along those lines.

Hey guys, for my own sanity as well as everyone else's, can we compile a shortlist of which of us is writing which character[s] right now, and which side of the battle they're on? If you want to toss in their current location, that would also be helpful. That way I can figure out who's active, who we need to juggle in any 'intense' moments, and which characters are currently being carried.

Skittles --- Er, she's "Skittles" --- somewhere in the Graveyard --- Not in Battle
I'm sorry for leaving such a colorful character out of "the thick of it" but I do have a plan for an amusing post to explain where and what in heck she was doing at the time, to be used as a postscript to the battle.

A Question: does the end of the battle signify the end of the story or....?
The purpose of the story is:
For the political situations in Gondor and Mordor to stabilize.
This means we will know the story is over when:
A treaty is signed and the Blue Wizards and their cronies have been dealt with. The treaty will be signed in my last post, which will follow (provided y'all approve) whichever closing posts are desired by each of you, which will occur just after the battle.

I dunno, I really got knocked off of the writing waggon, at least with regards to any sort of fiction, with my broken leg, and I'm only just starting to recover my interest in such things. I had originally aimed for one final co-post with the phantom, which is, if I'm honest, not at all necessary.
Given the nature of the story itself, it would almost seem contrived if suddenly everyone had a simple, wrap-up ending. I like the end the way it is, with a bit of confusion, and just about everyone taken care of. It leaves it open if anybody ever wants to turn this idea into a trilogy (not me!), but is honest to the rest of the plot for there to be just a hint of question and mayhem in the finale.
So I'm content with a finis, but if anybody has any strong feelings otherwise, they should speak up.
Just know that I'm happy to sit back and wave goodbye.
