Crystal Heart invites you to play in her game:
Darker Days
Basic Storyline:
Sandrina Hitherford is missing. Her father has been murdered. His estate in Rohan hasn't been settled due to his untimely demise. Sandrina's sister, Mayonette has to find out who killed her father and settle the estate before her greedy uncle inherits everything. She must also find Sandrina - who the murderer (contracted by the uncle) is holding for a hefty ransom. Along the way Mayonette must learn a sense of herself, responsibility, leadership, and the aspect of danger.

The purpose of the story is to: Save Sandrina, help Mayonette in all tasks, bring the uncle and the murder to justice, and lay her father to rest.
This means we will know the story is over when: the Uncle has been brought to jail or killed - along with the murderer, Sandrina is home, and Mayonette and her comrades have returned home.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Location: Rohan – The White Horse Inn
Likely destination: Rohan – Sandrina’s estate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Plan for the Game
From the inn we will head back to Mayonette’s home where we can decide what would be the best plan of action. There will be a couple of horses in the stable in case a player doesn't exactly have one. About three. No more.
From Mayonette’s home we will be traveling into the woods. There we will be looking for clues, discussing what must be done to the murderer/kidnapper (who in the end will be played by me if no one else wants to wait that long to be that person).
Distance will be close by to Rohan. Out in the country side. We will find Sandrina and the kidnapper/murderer in a cottage in the deep thicket of woods.
There will be a scene where the murderer and Uncle Samuel will fight us.
Samuel and murderer may die at this point. Take Sandrina home.
At home I will give money rewards to everyone that aided in this quest. Then all that want to stay may stay where the father's funeral will occur.

Crystal Heart’s character
NAME: Mayonette Starnson
AGE: 24
RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
WEAPONS: A dagger and matching battle sword that was once her fathers is all that she carries. There are no other weapons in her possession.
APPEARANCE: Dark brown hair that she has normally would hang loosely down her back. Now she wears it up in a messy bun for traveling. She has dark brown eyes that shine with her emotions. Gentle rose colored lips that once couldn't remain quiet are now still with the agony of her loss. She wears a simple white shirt that was once her fathers- tailored to her for more comfortable travel. She wears earth toned riding pants. Over her ensemble she wears a very simple green cloak. Over her riding pants sits the belted sword. It rests upon her left hip. She hides the danger inside her riding boot, ready for battle.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Mayonette is naive. She has always believed that people really are good and that good things happen to good people. However, the death of her father has changed those thoughts. She is beginning to see that the world isn't so grand, isn't so pure as she once thought it was. She is serious, but not subdued. She is level headed and can be stubborn. Her strength is using her emotion in a positive way. Her weakness is trusting far too easily.
HISTORY: Mayonette is the youngest in the family. Sandrina is the very oldest. At one time there were two brothers in between the two of them, but both died due to a strange illness. Their father always treasured his daughters. He helped them understand the ways of the world and his business. He saw Sandrina married off to Alexander Hitherford.
Mayonette's uncle is the oldest of three boys, but the grandfather knew that giving him any responsibility was a bad idea. Thus, he gave everything to Arthur (Mayonette and Sandrina's father) and the youngest son Henry. Now, Uncle Samuel is tired of waiting. He is going to get that estate no matter what the cost.

FIRST POST FOR THE GAME
Posted to the RPG Thread ~*~ Pio
Mayonette stood upon the porch of her home, arms clutching either side. Tears shone in her maple brown eyes as the memories of her father flooded through her small frame. Each and every breath felt like a weighted eternity, gathering even worse strength than before. She watched as the gentle breeze stirred the trees around their house.
She pondered on why her father had to die. He was so young, so full of life! Couldn't there have been a way to save him? Or her sister?
Her body shuddered to think what they may be doing to her. After seeing just what they did to her father, she was terrified to find her sister's body. She shook away the thought. No, she said to herself, it wouldn't end like that. She prayed that her sister would be okay.
Her sister had far more to live for than she did. Sandrina had a husband, a new life, and a barely blossoming child within her. Why had she said she would stay behind when Alexander had come to ask her if she wanted to come and find Sandrina with him? She knew these hills, knew these paths! What selfish thing had she done? Could she have sent Alexander to his death?
She took a deep breath and swallowed hard. Her stance strengthened as new thoughts filled her head. No, she wouldn't stand here waiting for her sister's return or for the capture of her father's murderer. She was going to go and do something!
She ran inside, changed quickly, and then went out to the barn. Her father's chestnut mare neighed softly as she approached.
"Be still Maple. We are going to The White Horse," she instructed the mare. It neighed softly as she saddle her. As soon as Mayonette was done she jumped up and headed for the inn.

Hama of the Riddermark’s character
NAME: Hama Haukrsonn, General of the Hawkshead Company of Rohan
AGE: 42
RACE: Human
GENDER: Male
WEAPONS AND ARMOUR: Ornately crafted sword. Ornately crafted shortbow with quiver of arrows. Ornate shield. Ornate armour. Throwing spear.
APPEARANCE: Tall, handsome and muscular with a neatly trimmed beard, the same straw color as his hair. Wears a green cloak with the Hawkshead emblem embroidered in gold on its back. Intense dark blue eyes.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Hama is a jovial yet deadly man, inclined to laugh whenever possible, but vicious in battle. He can always find the good in a situation, even if he doesn’t say it. His gruff voice and laugh make people feel instantly comfortable, and he doesn’t hesitate to say exactly what he means.
He is recklessly brave, taking risks that other men would pale to take, yet somehow always coming out alive with another story of heroics and bravery to tell. He is incredibly loyal, protecting his own like they were his children and fighting mercilessly to defend king and country. He is masterful with the sword, although less so with the bow and spear.
He is stubborn, and once convinced of a course of action, nothing can dissuade him from it. He is also blunt, sometimes to the point of rudeness.
HISTORY: Hama was born in Rohan, son of Haleth Haukr, a respected warrior. He led an unremarkable childhood, but by the age of eighteen was already prodigiously skilled with a sword. He joined the Rohirrim soon after, and rose quickly from a boy into a feared and respected man. He was soon given the position of second in command to General Dorian Heart, a man who Hama despised. Heart was a wife-beater who had driven his child, Crystal, into exile in the Shire. After the War of the Ring, he had seen many friends killed, and had comforted their grieving widows. He returned to Rohan to find his homestead destroyed by bandits. His wife brutally violated and mutilated, and his children slaughtered. After this, Hama’s reckless enthusiasm for battle was replaced by a cold and measured aggression.
The general, threatened by Hama’s strength and popularity, falsified a charge against him and forced him into exile. He headed for the Shire, hoping to find Crystal. Find her he did, and it wasn’t long before reports reached the Green Dragon that General Heart had been killed by assassins and Eomer had officially pardoned Hama, and wished him to succeed into the rank. He could not, of course, refuse the offer, and traveled back to Rohan.
When Hama was made General, the company officially changed its name to the Hawkshead company in honor of Hama’s father, who by this time had died. He was given a grand funeral, fitting for the sire of such a noble son. Since that day Hama has led his company in many successful skirmishes and battles in the outlands of Rohan, and has become something of a folk hero. His unwavering sense of honor and duty combine with his immense physical prowess into a man both feared and loved by his soldiers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hama of the Riddermark’s post
Hama looked up towards Edoras, the sunset was beautiful. He sat on his horse and watched the orb sink below the hill, the last beams catching the roof of the Meduseld in a glorious display of reflected light. A cool night-wind blew against his face, and he breathed deep, savoring the fresh taste of the cool air. Running a hand through his hair he gazed into the dark sky, sighting the stars and simply watching them sparkle. It had been a long while since he had last done this, and he regretted immensely that he had not been able to do it again sooner. The night was the one place where he could be at peace, alone. It was all very well for him to be the great hero, savior of the borderlands, in public, but he needed time away from all of that.
He didn’t think that Eomer would grant his request, but the outlands of Rohan had been quiet for many weeks, mainly thanks to Hama, and so the King had been unusually charitable in dealing with Hama’s petition for a few weeks’ leave. The first thing he had done was to saddle his horse and ride into the wilderness, settling down and camping under the stars by a small fire, cooking his own food for the first few days. He smiled wryly; it had almost tasted better than the fancy meals that his cook prepared for him. He had never much cared what he ate, as long as it kept him alive, and the over-indulgence practiced in the court had placed a few extra pounds on Hama’s waistline that he was eager to lose, and fast. It was no use being a Hero General if you were too fat to mount a horse or use a sword, and though Hama was at the peak of physical health, even at the age of forty two, he could feel the fat dragging him down like so much lead. After a week alone, he had lost most of his extra poundage, and began to ride around the Riddermark, visiting the people under the protection of the Hawkshead Company. Many of them were gracious, but some were uncivilized to the point of barbarism. It was a sobering experience for Hama, rich and handsome General of the Mark, to see a deformed beggar eating dirty meat cast out of the butcher’s shop and intended for the dogs. Hama gave the man a small pouch of silver coins, telling him to buy himself new clothes, a bath and a decent meal. The beggar threw himself at Hama’s feet, kissing his boots, and the General realized that his was likely the only act of kindness that this poor man had ever received.
Hama felt more at peace than he ever had done before, sitting under the black blanket of night on his noble stallion, Valuk. It was two weeks since his encounter with the beggar, and Hama had revisited the town and found the same man sitting in the street, looking certainly less disheveled, and with a bowl of hot stew next to him. The warmth of his embrace when he rushed at Hama, throwing his arms around the General’s chest, was a startling experience. After a second or two Hama returned the embrace, patting the man gently on the back. He still found it incredible what a difference a single bag of silver could make to a man’s life.
In any case, he was headed back to Edoras now, his leave over and his duty about to begin again. He was using his last night to lie with the world and enjoy it before he returned to his usual bed. Thirst struck his throat like an axe after about an hour, and he nursed his horse into a slow canter towards Edoras, the gates opening slowly at his command. He tugged Valuk’s reigns to ease the horse up the path that led to the White Horse Inn, ale was starting to sound like a joyful prospect to a man bereft of his luxury, albeit voluntarily, for a month…

Dimturiel's character
NAME: Edhener
AGE: 25
GENDER: Male

APPEARANCE: Tall, with shoulder-length light brown hair and keen grey eyes. He looks much younger than his real age. He sometimes has a vacant expression, that could make him seem unapproachable.
PERSONALITY/ STRENGHTS/ WEAKNESSES : He prefers solittude and tends to mistrust people, but when he does become attached to someone, he shows unwavering loyalty to that person. He knows what to do in difficult sittuations and is quite good in battle. Still, he is slightly impulsive, and tends to do rash things when provoked. People who do not know him well, despise him, considering him arrogant and odd.

He and his brother took part in the battle of Pelennor Fields, where his brother was killed, and he was wounded. He lives together with his parents and one of his sisters, the two others being married. He is courting a maiden renowned for her beauty, but for her pride also, and would do anything to win her.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dimturiel's post
Edhener was standing in front of the White Horse inn, watching the setting sun. Evening was his favourite time. It was pleasant to watch the sinking sun, as it carressed the geen fields of Rohan, making them blush scarlet. Evening brought memories into his mind, memories which he cherished as if they were some wonderful things crafted with great devotion by his own hands. But even the memories could not make him forget the happenings from the last few days. And whenever he thought of them, his eyes flashed with anger.
Where had he gone wrong to recieve such cold treatment? Was there anything he could do, in order to bring a twinkle of delight in the eyes that lately flashed with distaste at the sight of him?
The thought of brave deeds sprung to his mind. He saw himself riding to meet a large army of enemies, or battling with all the fiends ever spawned in the world, untill he fell, worn out and wounded. Then he pictured himself being brought home in the arms of one of his companions, and he saw the proud disdainful eyes filled with tears of regret and concern...
Edhener tried to still his fantasies. The war was long over. Gone were the beasts that brought terror and ruin into people's hearts, gone with them the chance of young men winning renown by fighting them.
Unless the rumours were true, and then he might have a chance of proving his worth. But who would take him? True, he had friends that could reccomend him for his valour and his fighting skills, but too many people considered him odd and unfriendly, an unsuitable companion for any expedition.
"I would prove them wrong, were they to give me a chance."he thought. "I would prove everyone wrong, including her"
His head bowed with the burden of so many thoughts, Edhener turned his back to the darkening world and entered the inn.

She had gone to Mayonette's estate, but couldn't find her there. Now she was standing in front of the White Horse Inn, just contemplating on whether or not she should go in. She sighed deeply and decided to go in. Whether or not Mayonette was in there she was going in. She hadn't had a good drink in a while.
Cordelia walked in and saw Mayonette sitting at the bar. She walked over to her and sat next to her without a word.
"Why aren't you home protecting the homestead?" She asked her, knowing that she was going to get a look that stated simply: Back off Cordelia.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glirdan's post
Léoflic looked out of the window across the wide plains of Rohan, thinking back on his past. His father had died in war when he was young. He doesn't even remember what he looked like. He was raised by his mother, the only family he had. She was caring and stern. He had a good life. Then that fateful day came when his mother fell deathly ill. He was only thirteen when it happened. He was standing by her bedside when she said "Léoflic. It is said that on the deathbed's of men, that they can see into the future and it is the case this time, yet I will not reveal to you what it is. Take my bow. You will need it and remember that I will always be with you." and with those final words, she passed out of Arda.
As he looked on at the flowing plains, he remembered what happened after. He had no family left after his mother's death and was left to fend for himself. He remebered wandering the plains of Rohan when he met him, his best friend. They grew up together and did everything together. He put his hand to his Short Sword and thought back to the first gift he recieved from his best friend. He thought back to their parting. His friend wanted to become a Healer, like his father whereas Léoflic wanted to be a mercenary. It was silent farewell and as he thought back to it, a lonely tear slowly developped in his eye and slid down the side of his cheek.
"It's time I stopped dwelling on the past and continued with my life," he thought to himself. "This is for you mother," and he turned his head away from the slowly sinking sun.

Witch_Queen's character
NAME: Thomas
AGE: 23
RACE: Human
GENDER: Male
WEAPONS: An old sword and spear his father had given him before leaving to fight in The War of the Ring.
APPEARANCE: He has what appears to be the making of a beard which seems to be a slight bit darker than his shoulder length sandy color hair. Thomas has a scar on his left cheek which only seems to make his appearance that much more pleasing to the eyes.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Thomas is young and like all young people is naïve to the world before him. He’s kind-hearted and doesn’t hold a grudge against anyone. He feels life’s too short to go around mad at anyone. Thomas is easy to get along with and cares deeply about his family and friends.
HISTORY: After Thomas’ father left him and his brother to fight in the War of the Ring, Thomas forced himself to grow up quickly. Thomas grew up without his mother in his life. All he ever knew was that he was lucky to still be alive. His father had always told him that his mother died during child birth and Thomas was his miracle child. Thomas’ dream is to one day join the Rohirrim and fight along side the great General Hama. So for the past few years Thomas has been training to improve his sword and spear skills. Thomas’ brother had always taunted him for being the youngest, but Thomas only used the taunting to grow stronger.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Witch_Queen's post
Thomas was shocked when he heard the news. He looked at his brother, "You mean the Mayonette that we grew up with. How could this happen?" Thomas' brother shrugged his shoulders. He only knew what he was told. "Maybe I can catch her over at her house." His brother looked at Thomas suspiciously. "Tommy I doubt you'll catch her there. I've been told she's going to the White Horse Inn. If you leave now you might be able to see how she is doing." Thomas stood up from his kitchen table. Mayonette had always been a good friend of his when they were little.
Thomas went to his room to grab his sword and spear. He some how had a feeling that the spear may come in handy...eventually. "Joe I'm taking Chianna and going to the Inn. Maybe I can find out some more information there." Thomas went out the side door of his little home only to walk straight into the stables. When he decided to build his home he wanted his horse as close to him as possible. So having the stables right out the side door was his best idea at the time. He walked over to his horse, slowly stroking her mane. "Chianna, its time for a nice walk. You can't stay shut-up in this old stable all day can you..." He placed his fathers old leather saddle on the giant animal. Chianna was a beautiful creature, her coat shined in the sun. She was a nutmeg brown and Chianna was Thomas' best friend besides his brother.
Thomas mounted his horse and proceeded to the White Horse Inn. All he cared about was making sure his friend was alright. If help was needed he knew he would gladly offer his services.

The Sixth Wizard's character
NAME: Garnae
AGE: 21
RACE: Human
GENDER: Male Rider of Rohan
WEAPONS : Spear, sword, anything else a Rider of Rohan might own. A horse named Creon. May access Rohirrim weaponry if in need.
APPEARANCE: Blonde, like most Rohaners. Rather tall and lanky. Garnae wears general Rider's armour, before that only owning a farmer's outfit. His eyes are very, very dark, this, being rare, is a striking feature.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Garnae doesn't like big strengthy jobs, preferring the spear and bow. He's quite smart, and willing to help others. He is slow to anger and peaceful. Living out on the farm has made Garnae skilled in archery and tracking. He is a mite eccentric, and finds it hard to make friends, but those who see past his wierd outer layer find him loyal and hardworking, a good friend. His motto is 'make the most of all resources'.
HISTORY: Garnae was born in Edoras very distantly related to the royal lineage. He is an only child. When he was three the War of the Ring took place, and his entire family was murdered by Uruks apart from his father and grandfather. At 16 he started a farm with money lent to him by Conwe, his grandfather. Since then he has become rather poor, with his land being bought at ridiculously low prices by Sandrina's Uncle Samuel. Garnae joined the Riders of Rohan in need of money, at the urging of his father Creon, after whom his horse is named. He is at present 21 years old and unmarried, unless he can pick up a lass in this RPG of course!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sixth Wizard's post
"Ah, an Inn ahead," said Garnae as he rode deftly upon the horse, Creon. He had finally finished his training as a Rider, perhaps now he could earn enough money for his family. Anyway, this was a time for celebration. Although he had passed the training through unorthodox methods, defeating opponents with wit and smarts instead of brute force, it was over and he could relax for the first time in a long while. The constant urging of Sandrina Hitherford's greedy Uncle Sam had reminded him that his farm was going broke, and that there were no other buyers. There was really nothing for it; sell the land to him (much of which had already been sold), or join the Riders.
Garnae was sure Sandrina's uncle was assisting in the mysterious demise of his farmland. Cattle went missing, the stream was dirty and crops grew poorly. One day as he ploughed the fields he found a handful of salt, perhaps dropped by a treacherous hand as it fallowed the earth. As much as he tried though, Garnae couldn't ever find Sam or an accomplice at this game, so he could never get him put to justice. It was a hard life on his farm.
But all that might change now that he was a Rider of the Riddermark. Crops could be resown. Watches could be placed on his land, and the nasty character caught. Hopefully life would be good.
Garnae brushed his hand through his blonde hair sighing. The White Horse Inn . Time to put his spirit at ease with a good dose of ale. Garnae didn't drink much, not having many friends. As he entered the wooden door, tying up Creon at the door who whistled annoyedly, he spied a young woman at a table alone. As if driven by fate, he sat next to her...

Mithalwen's character
NAME: Elfride
AGE: 28
RACE: Rohirrim
GENDER: female
WEAPONS (No magical, super-hero, mithril weapons. Just good solid Middle-earth weapons and armor only that is appropriate to the race of the character and the time period.): Sword, property of her late husband. Sharp clasp knife that could be used as a weapon at need.
APPEARANCE: Tall, grey eyes, golden blonde hair prematurely showing a few threads of silver.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:Elfride's naturally merry heart has been subdued by the losses she has suffered. She manges her farm and house, can handle a sword competently and a horse extremely well and as well as the usual skills appropriate to a woman of her kind (of a well established and prosperous though not noble family) she has a particular knowledge of herblore and healing. To those ignorant of her story her restraint and reserve can be seen as coldness. Inside she is torn by guilt from her failure to save her daughter's life and struggles with her instinct to overprotect her surviving child.
HISTORY:
Elfride is the daughter and sister of career soldiers. Her father was killed at the battle of the Pelennor Fields. Aged seventeen, she married, Theomund, a friend and fellow officer of her brother, who took her to live on his family's farm near Mayonette's village.
There she bore a son, Elfthain, and a daughter Matilda. Elfride's relationship with her mother in law had a difficult start but they overcame this and Theomund's mother passed on teh benefit of her lifetime's experience of healing and midwifery.
Three years ago, Elfride's happiness was shattered when Theomund was killed on an expedition undertaken by the kings of Gondor and Rohan against the last allies of Sauron in the Southlands. Her daughter and mother in law were killed by the strange fever that had afflicted the village a year before, which was beyond her skill to heal. Now Elfride is alone for reluctanctly she has entrusted her ten year old son to her brother's care that he may learn warfare.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mithalwen's post
"Well they have gone, Leif" Elfride murmured turning her face into the grey horse's mane as those she loved most in the world, her son and her brother. Elwin, and his family, finally disappeared from view. Elfthain had looked so happy, the excitement of the adventure for now overriding distress at parting temporarily with his mother. He had wanted to ride Leif himself, disdaining his old pony but this his mother had refused. It was one thing to let him ride his father's warhorse in the paddock at home, another across the open plains of Rohan. As a compromise she had offered him her own horse. The smaller and sweet tempered palfrey would take care of his rider and give her one less thing to worry about but would give her beloved boy the dignity of riding a proper horse.
'Thain had tried to take his father's sword too but Elwin, seeing the distress in his sister's eyes had told him he must earn it first. For Elwin the scene was too close to the one that had taken place but a few yards from this spot three years before when he had led Leif back to Edoras and placed Theomund's sword in his sister's hands. The empty saddle had brutally broken the news of her widowhood before word could be spoken.
He wished she would join them on his new assignment. It was not healthy for a young woman to live surrounded by ghosts. He had thought that she would not allow herself to be parted from the boy and trusting to this he had been forceful in his arguements. He had been astounded when she had permitted her son to go without her and refused to explain beyond saying that her affairs at the farm and in the village could not be arranged so quickly. He knew she had promised her son that they would not be long separated and hoped that she would join them ere long.
If Elfride was not ready to leave the ghosts of her past, neither was she ready to face them in her otherwise empty house. She would go to the inn and take a meal she felt no hunger for in order to delay her return and avoid the forlorn task of cooking for herself alone later.
She entrusted her horse to the ostler and brushing down her blue riding habit she entered the inn. This was rather finer garb than she would have worn had the journey not involved an encounter with her sister in law, of whose refined Gondorian manners Elfride still was somewhat in awe. Many in Edoras thought Elwin, Captain of the Mark, quite good enough a match for a lady's maid. The fact was that Gilwen had been a handmaid of Queen Lothiriel and spoke the elf tongue as easily as the Westron. The sisters in law had grown fond of each other but Elfride still had moments of feeling like a peasant in comparison.
The inn was quite busy and she drew little attention in her quiet corner, eating little, absorbed with her own thoughts it was a while before she realised that she was not the only person from the village in the inn. She knew the girls of course, but not especially well. They were not so far apart in age but Elfride felt much older. They were still children when she had arrived as a young bride and her swift progression to motherhood had placed her more often in the the circles of older matrons than younger maids. They were nice girls but she was not sure she wanted company just now and it seemed as if they had concerns of their own.

PLACED ON PROPOSAL ABOVE ~*~ Pio
NAME: Edhener
AGE: 25
GENDER: Male
WEAPONS: One sword, being a gift from his elder brother.
HISTORY: He was born in a family of four others- three sisters and one brother- of which he was the youngest. He and his brother took part in the battle of Pelennor Fields, where his brother was killed, and he was wounded. He lives together with his parents and one of his sisters, the two others being married. He is courting a maiden renowned for her beauty, but for her pride also, and would do anything to win her.
My first post:

Except for Crystal Heart and Hama who had already sent in their information, please put your Character Descriptions and your First Posts HERE on the Discussion Thread.
Don't send them to me. And don't send them to Crystal - she can see them here on the Discussion Thread and you can then edit them as needed.

NAME: Cordelia Smatherson
AGE: 22
RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
WEAPONS (No magical, super-hero, mithril weapons. Just good solid Middle-earth weapons and armor only that is appropriate to the race of the character and the time period.): An old sword that was once her grandfathers that lays in its hilt at her hip.
APPEARANCE: She has dark brown hair and light blue eyes. She can be typically found wearing a working dress, but since her best friend's father died she has only worn riding clothes because she goes to the Mayonette's estate.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: (No half-Elven characters. No mixed-type characters. No super-heroes. No assassins. No one all powerful, martial arts proficient, or having any magical traits. Just regular characters with normal abilities for their races only): She is lively, happy, and bright. She always tries to see the best in everyone and in every situation. However, she can be serious and she can fight without thought. She is more than willing to use her sword against someone. Strength: Sword fight - she was taught by her grandfather. Weakness: her innocence.
HISTORY: Mayonette and Cordelia have been best friends since as long as both of them can remember. Her mother died at her birth and her father was always away. Her grandfather raised her and taught her everything that she knew.
First post:
She had gone to Mayonette's estate, but couldn't find her there. Now she was standing in front of the White Horse Inn, just contemplating on whether or not she should go in. She sighed deeply and decided to go in. Whether or not Mayonette was in there she was going in. She hadn't had a good drink in a while.
Cordelia walked in and saw Mayonette sitting at the bar. She walked over to her and sat next to her without a word.
"Why aren't you home protecting the homestead?" She asked her, knowing that she was going to get a look that stated simply: Back off Cordelia.

NAME: Léoflic
AGE: 20
RACE: Human
GENDER: Male
WEAPONS: A Long Bow which he inherited from his mother and a Short Sword which he recieved as a gift from his best friend
APPEARANCE: Sleek, brown hair with dark, deep set brown eyes. Riding clothes (black boots and pants with a dark green shirt under a black vest). His Short Sword is stuck in a black, leather sash and his Long Bow is slung over his right shoulder along with his quiver of bows.
PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Young, eager and bold. Very outspoken yet easy to trust. Very loyal and very protective. Quick to anger yet even quicker to laughter. Always ready to fight in defense to protect those he cares about. Strength - Fighting skills Weakness - His wanting to see the innocence in others.
HISTORY: Only child born into a poor farming family. Father died when he was young and was raised by his mother. Mother died when he was about 13. He recieved her bow which she used to go hunting when she was young. Grew up with his best friend.
--------------------
FIRST POST

--------------------
Witch_Queen's post

As he entered the wooden door, tying up Creon at the door who whistled annoyedly, he spied a young woman at a table with some other people. As if driven by fate, he sat next to her...

Good morning (or afternoon or evening I suppose. hehehehe...) to all of you. I want to formally extend a hand of friendship to you all and to thank you for becoming players of my game.
As I can see the RPG has now started. I look forward to the adventure that we shall be embarking on and look forward to getting to know some of you better and hanging out with my old friends.
First off I would like to say welcome. Welcome to Darker Days! Please feel free to be light and airy at times in the RPG. It doesn't all have to be dark and gloomy.
I hope you enjoy this RPG and our time together. I have always found that the people you meet in RPGs here create some lasting friendships. I was away for an entire year and when returned still found that I was embraced by my old friends. I hope you come to find companionship and fun along the journey.
Again Welcome and thank you!

Character Description Form

POSTED TO PROPOSAL ~*~ PIO

I know!! I was in the throes.... wasn't sure I would have time today .. but there you go.... Let me know if you want any adjustments to fit in.
ALso could you let me know if you are implying that Mayonette's brothers were murdered rather than died of natural causes. I have alluded to the mystery illness to dispose of some of Elfie's family but I did wonder if there might be a poisoning type subplot... which I could exploit I think...

Hi everyone! Sixth Wizard here...
Should we start the RPG with, say, us all meeting and Crystal says "Who are you all?" or something, or do you think we've got enough of that?
If so, what should the first hurdle be? The journey, emotional sacrifice, what?
HMMMMmmmmmmmmmm....
This RPG seems more emotional than orc-killing, maybe we should emphasise that?

Hello everyone,
In my opinion, we really should start off with us meeting up with Mayonette and then head off onto the quest. This way, we get a chance to introduce our character a little more as well as not have confusion on how everyone met up.
I'm off for now as I have school. I'll be back later.

Applause goes to Sixth Wizard. Yes this is a more emotionally distressing kind of RPG. I tend to like those better. I am poor at RPing battles. I am better with the more psychological kind of side of things.
I think that some people should meet one another. Some will notice me due to connections that our characters all ready share. Others yet should sit around and easedrop in on the conversation of the quest.
It is free, open, and flexible. Do what you all free is comfortable for your character!

Its ok... call me Adu or Cree. I would be honored to be known by my characters. (As long as their good characters... LOL) I've posted again for Thomas. He's in on it. The hug was cool... nothing against it at all....
Thomas has joined the quest.....

05-12-2006, 05:46 AM
Well I will call you Adu, because that is the character name that I know the most.
I kind of pictured Thomas and Mayonette has very good friends from youth.
Yes! Thomas has joined the quest! We are moving forward people! YAY! Sorry. Got excited.

Am I just reading wrong or is there a little something for Thomas from Mayonette?
Just curious. I think it would be kind of cute if that developed. Yeah I know. . . RPG isn't suppose to be cute. LOL.
New to the RPG stuff so I don't know what is acceptable or not. You all are such great RPGers. I hope that through this RPG I will learn how to be a better RPGer.
Crystal Heart
05-12-2006, 09:00 AM
RPG can be cute Cordelia. It is a role play of "real" life. lol. I guess LOTR isn't real life, but human life is real. So yeah there would be tensions and stuff like that.
I don't know about that. I think that she has always had a soft spot for Thomas. Heck, Mayonette had known Thomas nearly all her life. The last she saw him they were a different age then. Perhaps there may be a spark.
I can't really fully answer that. What do you think Adu? Do you think Thomas is a wee bit smitten with the questwoman Mayonette?
I don't know. I think we are still young in the RPG yet to really answer that question.
Cordelia- don't you worry about your RPG skills. You are already doing very well. Are you a writer in real life? Your writing suggests that you are.
Witch_Queen
05-12-2006, 11:46 AM
I think Thomas has a sort of soft spot when it comes to Mayonette.. But the RPG is still young.. So perhaps feelings could develop as the game develops... It'll be great sorta Mayonette's own personal body gaurd.. You know if the time calls for it.. Yeah I think Thomas will gladly stick around for a while after the quest....
Its going to BE GREAT!!!!

I have assumed Elfride missed the news - I can change if necessary. However - I have finished the post with her being told so you don't have to repeat yourself too much. Although Elfride can handle a blade as well as the next woman, given that you have a number of men on the quest already, I imagine Sandrina's pregnancy would be the "hook" that would bring Elfride on to the quest - I don't imagine either the girls or the soldiers would have her experience of antenatal care :D.

What? Two months ago? What are you talking about?
In the UK, mothers' day (or Traditionally "Mothering Sunday (http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/features/mday/index.shtml) " is celebrated a few weeks before Easter and has been for hundreds of years. I can only imagine that it was because the Pilgrim Fathers were Puritans that the festival didn't go with them...

Hey peeps!
Okay so I think that we need to mingle. Just a wee bit before we start on the journey. It is evening at the Inn and they really can't go on until morning really. So I figured that they would get to know each other. Mayonette doesn't like fighting and we don't need fighting on the journey so she is hoping to stop that by having you talk for a little bit.
I will move on to morning after a little bit. Probably by Friday.

I think on the journey perhaps maybe Cordelia tells him. You know sorta a Mayonette not acting right and Thomas asking Cordelia whats wrong with her and Cordelia "spills the beans" so to speak... It would be sorta neat.... But i think it would be cool if Thomas found out eventually...

That was so beautiful! You actually made me cry. It was such a touching post.
I decided that Mayonette would tell Thomas in a giddy kind of way. She had been so worried to tell him that the condition was that he needed to marry her that he would without loving her and that wasn't what she wanted. Now that she knows she is giddy about it. Tell me if you like it that way. If not I will change it.

Right, I have only read up to post 33, impatient personage that I am, and Crystal could you please edit your post (number 20) and make me have some lame excuse for leaving for a while, that would make more sense, seeing as I'm out of the story for a long while. Whoa. Okay. I wasn't really expecting to come back and find that kind of post Sixth Wizard. You jumped the entire game forward about like three hours without any kind of transition posts.
I shall remedy the problem. So my save fill in will be rather long, but Sixth Wizard please do not do that kind of thing again unless asked by myself or Pio to move the thread along. You can not automatically assume what is going on before there has been discussion in the discussion thread about it first.
I am not mad with you, Sixth Wizard. I know you are new to the game and so I am just telling you so that way you don't walk away from this RPG thinking that you can do that and eventually getting another game owner very angry at your assumptions.
Overall, your posts are beautiful. Keep up the great work.

Sixth Wizard - I have read your post again. It just. . . doesn't seem to fit. I tried hard. It is a good post. I was wondering though if you wouldn't mind copying, pasting, and saving the post for a little later.
What I am hoping to do is use some of the post later. I want to to rework the post, offering your home. Then allowing some of the other players to describe their way to your home. THEN we would pull out your beautiful post. You could describe even better the destruction of your home.
Does this make sense?

Darn, now Garnae can only pick from Cordelia or Elfride, and the second's basically taken, curses...
She is? By whom? News to me ..unless you mean she is still in mourning for her husband.... LOL I made her a grieving widow since I thought I ought to try a RPG where my char didn't end up married ..... not that the previous ones didn't aquire absolutely delightful husbands *sigh* I guess she might be tempted ;)
Crystal ..didn't 6th Wizard excuse himself for a while in post 99 on this thread ..I don't think he has actually taken the group with him?

About The Sixth Wizard's character:
From post 99 here on the Discussion Thread:
Right, I have only read up to post 33, impatient personage that I am, and Crystal could you please edit your post (number 20) and make me have some lame excuse for leaving for a while, that would make more sense, seeing as I'm out of the story for a long while. You can just make something up, have fun toying with my guy! Oh, and please tell him where to meet you the next night.
Okay, now to read the rest of the posts.
Then in post 102, Witch_Queen says she has edited her post and had her character give Garnae the excuse to leave the main group for a while:
Sixth Wizard: I edited post 25 and added you in.... You can come back with an excuse for why you had to leave now... All I put was that a messenger came in and you told THomas that you had some issues back at the homestead to tend to.. You can come up with something to go along with that or if you wish I can change it.. What ever you want I'll do......
So – The Sixth Wizard’s character is away from the rest of the group – and will return when the writer is able . . . the rest of the group can continue on as planned.
piosenniel
05-22-2006, 12:23 PM
Note:
I've put a little title up for The Sixth Wizard's post on the RPG, so that everyone sees his character has been called away to attend to some personal business at his homestead.
You can carry on around him and he can fit himself back in when he's able.
Mithalwen
05-22-2006, 12:25 PM
Now that that misunderstanding has been cleared up I suggest either Crystal modifies her post assuming that Elfride has made the offer of her home and it has either been accepted or rejected. This would seem slightly more plausible than waiting till they were out side ... however a second post could be made. I have put up a save to use if necessary.
Since the suggestion has been presented twice already in Elfride's thought and then in conversation with Cordelia it need not be repeated as such merely referred to, perhaps as a part of Cordelia's conversation with Mayonette?
Then we could get going. I have tomorrow afternoon off and will have time to make a lengthy post installing the party in Elfride's comfortable residence (unless another option is preferred. I suggest that anyone who wants to make a "journey post" at least puts up a save and then by this time tomorrow we can start the planning phase.
What do you think?

In order for anyone to carry The Sixth Wizard's character along Garnae will have to be brought back to the group. He's miles away from the main group at present.

Gosh, sorry for all the fuss everybody!
Well, yes Garnae was on his own for that post. I was a bit worried that it was breaking the RPG rule which says that your character should generally stay with the group. Should I delete or edit it? The reason of the post was I thought Garnae didn't have much of a reason to go on the quest, what with being a Rider and having a lot of land. It was supposed to be a sort of 'meanwhile' as you were talking. Thank you Pio for sorting it all out.
Well, back to business, it seems I am not actually going away after all. It has been cancelled at the last minute. Incredible, is it not? There should now be time to play the RPG once again.
Sorry for the kerfuffle once again! :(
Will post tomorrow, hopefully no more controversy, possibly more romance.

That should teach me to try to post after having a very large family incident occur. . . . However, that is not your fault. That is purely mine and I deeply deeply apologize. Hey everyone.
Crystal is my best friend in real life. She is the one that got me on this place. So I am going to tell you what is going on in her life at this moment.
Her aunt, the one that practically raised her, got into a car accident. She's fine. Don't worry. She's just going to need some surgery on her broken leg. She is rather distressed about it.
Now usually she is able to keep her emotions away from her RPing, but I think this just hit her too hard. She usually doesn't act like this. So please do look into your hearts and forgive her. She really is a very kind, happy, and hyper person most of the time.
I hope you will all overlook this one little thing and that we will come together as a family. For Crystal has always told me that the RPGs here really create this sense of family and friendship. She has been so excited to RP with new and old faces.
Thank you for listening,
Cordelia

Hama - has anyone seen or heard from Hama?
He is around but if he has A-Levels that is major league stress - I am not sure whether you have anything as traumatic :D though, Australia does ....
Since you young folks are larking about a bit - maybe it would make sense for me to modify my post so that Hama went on with Elfride. I will try PMing him to OK this . However if I don't hear back we will have to assume he arrived but with a low profile. :D

Wow, he's playing a general and we're going to give him a low profile?
That and the style of his posts! There's so much authority in Hama's writing, it's going to be a challenge! But I guess, what else can you do, except for maybe get him wounded, or send him away to his burnt-down house or...
Okay time for me to stop rambling. Things to do.

OK, Hama hasn't picked up his PM yet.
I am going off line shortly. Once you arrive I will have to interract with my guests and that will mean my posts are less changeable.
Wha tI suggest is that I put up a save. If I hear from Hama or he posts before I will act accordingly. If we don't hear. I suggest that we assume that he will make his way to the farm by himself. Since he is a such an important character it I think it might be better to let him have some business delaying him slightly and le thim make a grand entrance rather than having him tagging along silently and we can't "carry him" without permission. I imagine there is enough connection with Hama and Elfride for him to know the way to the property.
Any comments?
Crystal Heart

It sounds like a good idea to me Mith.
Everyone, please put up a save or something. I know that it is Memorial Day weekend for those of us from the State. So if you are going away for the extended weekend please please please put up a save that you will fill in by Tuesday.

Hi, I have just heard from Hama.
I have permission to carry along his character this month, if he is allowed "time out".
I really would prefer this option if possible since I think the group dynamic will be out of kilter without him. Given the current speed, I think we should get him back for the main point of the drama.
Crystal, what do you say? *please* :D

Well that does sound kind of interesting. Does everyone want to encounter that kind of thing in the wood?
Mithalwen
06-12-2006, 01:34 PM
I have done some thinking , and looking at maps.... another possibility for the wood being a dread place would be if it were near enough the paths of the dead to be regarded to be haunted.
There are a couple of villages mentioned in Harrowdale between Dunharrow and Edoras, since "our village " is agricultural and near Edoras it might be / be near "Upbourn" where Harrowdale widens out rather than " Underharrow" in the narrower part of the valley. The Journeys of Frodo shows a sizeable wood across the Snowbourn from Underharrow. Situated under the shadow of the haunted mountain (Dwimorberg) and only a couple of miles from the door to the Paths of the Dead ..it might reasonably be the source of childhood terror for children in the area, and it would be palusibel for Uncle Sam to have property near the next village. And goodness know what we might find within.
If this is acceptable and doesn't contradict your plans Crystal, then I can use some of this for Hama in my next post...
In the mean time .. I will do something for Elfride .... who will have her work cut out as a Chaperone methinks

Do not chat on the RPG Discussion Thread - take it to PM or go to the chat room, or AIM or wherever you'd like to discuss none-rpg oriented topics.
Rep points, depression, avatars, etc. can all be discussed elsewhere.
Use this thread to discuss the game and how to move it forward.

One other comment - please remember that posts to games in the Shire need to be at least 2 paragraphs long. And EACH paragraph must have at least 2 sentences in it.
Some of the recent posts to the RPG have had 1 sentence paragraphs. Please remedy that in your future posts.

I had hoped for the saves to be filled first but I will post the Hama planning post tomorrow regardless - lost timeonight with powercut. And yesterday what was intended as a short linking post as a short post became a long one but at least Hama has now arrived... I have posted a save outlining what he will say so I hope that I am not holding anyone up. Hama (player) said that his delayed arrival was due to having to petition the king for permission to join the quest. This makes good sense since Hama's leave was up in his first post. Also I have assumend that there would have been a more formal system of bringing people to justice in Eomer's realm but the unusual circumstances - since currently this is a "family matter" mean that normal channels have been bypassed.
I have also assumed that there would be some record at Edoras of who holds lands where and have let clever Hama find out about Samuel's holdings to give a bit more certainty to the direction of the expedition. Hope this will be ok ..if not let me know. :D

Sorry.... serves me right for feeling smug about remembering to delete my sig...
BTW ... since it seems likely to turn into a "repetitive fault" and it won't be picked up by a spell check, could I mention that the things you steer horses with are reins and reigns is what the Queen does. Sorry, I misspent a lot of my youth around horses..

Aww nice post Cordelia I felt like I wanted to cry! (There goes the last trace of my masculinity.) I'll wait another day so the others can post a bit, don't want it to seem like a back and forth 'tween us two... AND I don't have much time...
Bye people!
Cordelia Harrison
06-30-2006, 01:07 PM
Aww! Thanks Sixth! I'm glad you like it. I almost made myself cry when I wrote it.

Who's he? Edhener? Yes, he's alive. As for Dimturiel, she's also alive, and she is just waiting for the others. :p Sorry, but I couldn't help it. :D

I do like it but it would be easier for me if you slightly altered the last bit so he asks her the same question while they are riding along. I don't think i can do another flash back post since the group has moved off. I will slightly alter the end of my post to make that clear and I will push her hood back so her miserable face can be seen!!
Is that OK... ?
Glirdan
07-04-2006, 01:19 PM
That sounds fine. I shall go alter mine as well.

FINALLY!
I had to get my computer's hard drive rewired. It took FOREVER! And I had no way to get online to tell you all.
But I'm back now.
lol. Hey Glirdan can I have that cookie?
Alright people we really need to get this on the move now.
Glirdan
07-05-2006, 01:20 PM
Okay, here's your cookie!! :D Yay!!!
By the way, you took the words right out of my mouth, we really do need to get this moving along.
Mithalwen
07-05-2006, 02:07 PM
And Hama should be back soon....
It shouldn't take too long in "Game time" to reach the edge of the woods even if they take it steadily a hours not days i think ...
Cordelia Harrison
07-05-2006, 02:08 PM
True Mith.
*throws confetti*
IT'S ALIVE IN HERE!
So I'm thinking. . . someone should get hurt. Like physically. What do you all think?
Crystal Heart
07-05-2006, 02:14 PM
Yeah it won't take very long, but we should get it going back up though since it's kind of been just sitting there for a while.
Thanks for the cookie! *eats it* YUMMY!!
Hurt? As in someone gets wounded? COOL! *ahem* I mean, that would be interesting.
Mithalwen

Oh no Mith we don't want to shut you up at all! YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO GET INJURED!

Yes, sorry about that siggy being left...I really have to make a note to self on that...
Crystal, I think we should put up Missing Persons Posters!
Cordelia, I would love to inflict pain on the bad guy...if he was here. But I wouldn't mind being inflicted with an injury either...or accidentally causing someone in our group to get injured.
Crystal Heart
07-05-2006, 05:36 PM
An accidential injury? ROFLMBO! That would be rather interesting now wouldn't it?
YAY! We need to make missing people posters right now!
*brings out glue, pictures, and paper* START MAKING POSTERS!
Glirdan

Well, what I meant by accidentally was that we go hunting for food and I accidentally hit someone with my arrow or get scared in the middle of the night, jump up and stab someone in say, the left shoulder or the knee. Or perhaps somebody breaks an ankle by running and tripping over a rock. Or I get hurt, I don't know how though. Someone can come up with that...
Actually, I have an idea...Hookbill's got a new thread up called the Barrow Down's Newpaper. I was thinking, what if we get their avvies and make a post for it in there. Mind you, it has to be funny. I'd do it, but I already wrote one on behalf of ME Idol.
