I looked around for a thread to post these pictures in, but none of them seemed to quite fit. So I gave up and decided to make a new one. There's a bar/lounge type restaurant called Bagg End in the town where I work and sometimes I drive past it. So the other day I took a couple snapshots of the outside to share because I thought it would be of interet. I'm not sure you can make out the picture of Frodo on the sign to the right, sorry, I was using a disposable camera and couldn't zoom.

Lucky you. I have yet to find a Tolkien themed place where I live.

Hmm.... I recall starting a thread (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=5514) like this one a few years ago. Not any places I know, simply pictures I found on the internet.

Ugh! Not fair! I want to stop by and see what it is like!

Why can't there be neat places like this where I live?

Thanks for the link, Brinniel. Some very interesting places. :D

Funny thing is, Bagg End has been around since before I read the books and watched the movies, and I always used to think it was a very odd name and had something to do with Ireland. :)

I'll try to remember to dig out my photo of the Middle Earth Tavern later. Thinking about the name of the pub, I'll bet it comes from the fact that Caedmon wrote his famous hymn in Whitby which refers to Middengeard i.e. Middle-earth. So it may not be named due to a Tolkien connection. However, we were in there in June (drinking some nice, cool Magners cider, mmmmmmm.....) and they have Alan Lee prints up and a display about Tolkien, so....

I noticed as well, that on the way to Whitby, between Malton and Pickering you pass a couple of villages called High Marishes and Low Marishes.

I've been sorely tempted to rename my house Bag End for a while, though would this look a bit silly on a terraced house? It is an end-of-terrace. ;)

There's a bar that I drive past on the way to my flute lessons called Rohan's... maybe one of these days I'll take a picture.
