For many long millenia, Melkor has lain chained and dormant. And when he finally wakes, it is to a world far different than that he remembers. Nonetheless, he is soon up to his old tricks, searching out those who he can twist to his evil will...

You are all members of an active Live Action Role-Playing club. You've been playing together for years, and you know eachother almost as well as you know eachother's fantastical personas. But the upcoming Annual Fantasy Weekend promises to be the best ever, and you prepare excitedly for the yearly camping trip. For 3 days, you'll take on your characters 24/7, camping with your friends in the heavily wooded park east of town.

You've heard that your president, JennyHallu (also known as Adalawen the Elven Thief), has a very special scenario planned...rumor is it involves werewolves.

Little do you know what kind of unwanted attention your eagerly anticipated outing has attracted...

Important Info:

This game will be set in the 7th age.
Roles should include both your "real-life" occupation and the character you play with the club. Silliness is not only welcome, it is highly encouraged.
There shall be three werewolves and one seer, with other Gifteds/Curseds to be determined based on interest.
Deadline shall be somewhere around 5PM EST, which is 10PM GMT. Requests for another time will be considered, but I make no promises.
There shall be one retractable vote per day, and no double lynches. In the event of a tie, the player to garner the most votes first will be the lynchee for the day.
The game shall begin with a Night cycle.
I reserve the right to change the rules at any point before the start of the game.

Well, I'll be a teleseller in the 7th age and my role will be Tom Yrmacha'zul'charach'ping'yit'pul tha half-balrog (half-human). He wields (at the same time) two legendary elven longswords, a legendary human two-handed sword, a legendary orcish crossbow, a legendary dwarven largeshield and a legendary wizard pointy hat.

(Yes, he is ambitious)

Naria
11-02-2006, 12:11 PM
Oooo, can't resist a bare-bones game! :D

Hmm, I will be the local Rat Wrangler and my name will be Kitty Watcha'mikolit (half dwarf-half troll). She has no weapons to speak of, just her trusty flute.

Naria

Looking back at Volo's occupation, do we put down our RL jobs or made up ones? I think I may have missed something Jenny with your quotations around RL  :)

JennyHallu
11-02-2006, 12:31 PM
It can be your real real job if you really want it to be. Or not. Up to you. I won't be checking up, if that's what you're asking.

EDIT: Just let it be at least marginally plausible.

Volo
11-02-2006, 12:37 PM
My sure isn't real, it would just be so ironic to have a character with such a low job and being so ambitious in larp.

(that character was actually a part of my "how not to make a BD RPG character"-example. I even wanted to start a thread like this "How NOT to do something in The Barrow Downs or in Tolkien's world", but I decided against it, not having good enough examples.)

Folwren
11-02-2006, 03:05 PM
Are you looking for more players? If so, I think I'll join...the fact that Jenny's modding it is practically enough to get me to play.

A couple questions before making up my mind entirely:

When will it start?
You didn't say, but it looked possible - are you wanting all the posts in Role-playing form itself?

I will seriously consider just how much time I am willing to waste and then let you know if I decide you join you...provided you'll let me, of course.

-- Folwren

Rikae
11-02-2006, 03:09 PM
I shall be the schadenfreude-prone halfling mortician, wielding an ancient elvish shovel. I'll get back to you with a name shortly.

Anguirel
11-02-2006, 03:33 PM
I confirm my participation.

The theme has caught me slightly off balance, but I shall be an aged academic expert in Ruritanian poetry, who (hiding his suspect hobby from his respected colleagues and students) performs the role of Ptolemaius the Objectionable, a human wizard.

Valier
11-02-2006, 04:56 PM
Sign me up Jenny!!
I shall be Anoonnoon from Omacron Persieye eight I shall be a Radical Hair Butcher and I shall be Elven.
Also I work most days until at the latest 8:00 pm CST if that is a problem for anyone let me know, because I may have to vote early most days, but with the retractable vote I may be able to sneak in a vote on some days.

Rikae
11-02-2006, 05:32 PM
My character's name is Ilberic Took.
My RL persona is a fortyish stage actor with mental health issues.

JennyHallu
11-02-2006, 09:02 PM
Folwren: It will start as soon as I have enough players...ideally before next weekend.

In-character posting is certainly not a requirement.

Anyone is welcome to join, this is an open game.

I am actively seeking a co-mod. If weirdness takes over, I may be moving sometime in the next month.

Thinlómien
11-03-2006, 03:51 AM
I'll be an unemployed homeless drunkard in his fifties who plays a pretty elf maid named Lothwen (flowermaid, that is).

Nogrod
11-03-2006, 06:16 AM
Count me in!

I'll come up with the occupation-stuff soon.

Folwren

Will you take me as your co-mod? I don't know how much time I'll actually have for playing.

I'll be a retired general from the defence department who plays Ciryatan of the Dúnedain, a one-legged Athelas vendor (his left leg will be tied from the knee in the LARP and he would use walking sticks to get forwards).

The deadline is great!

One retractable is a good idea for those who will have troubles with the deadline.

"unstable aging stage actor" has a nice ring to it...

If there's room, I'm in Jenny, sign me up. :)

I think I'll be a Fuller.

JennyHallu
11-03-2006, 08:04 PM
Boro...please read the top post. I need two roles from you: which is Fuller?

Boromir88
11-03-2006, 08:27 PM
I'm sorry...

The fuller is my real role. And my role playing character will be the guy who plays all the 'minor alternative characters.'

JennyHallu

We seem to have a group of more mature people around this time... Let's see if they can behave any better than the youngsters? :D

Rikae
11-06-2006, 07:28 AM
It occurs to me that I might be able to have more fun with it if my RL character is the mortician, and my RP hobbit character is the unstable aging stage actor. Can I switch them?

JennyHallu
11-06-2006, 07:51 AM
hehe...ok.

Folwren
11-06-2006, 08:48 AM
How long until the game starts, do you suppose? How many more players do you need before you can begin?

-- Foley

JennyHallu
11-06-2006, 08:54 AM
Well, we have only 9 players right now. I'd like an absolute minimum of 12, preferably more like 15. I don't know how long it will take to get them, but we'll see. I'd like to get the game started by this weekend.

JennyHallu
11-06-2006, 02:52 PM
Welcome Rune!

We need two more players to start! I've sent out a host of invitations, but I have no way of knowing how many people have committed to Fea's game. Cross your fingers.

And Anguirel, do you still plan to play here, as you've confirmed participation in Fea's game?

Farael
11-06-2006, 02:55 PM
Well Jenny, if you still need one more player, I'm in. And for those of you groaning, I do intend on trying a new style, but then I may change my mind :p

With your blessing, I was thinking of being a singer for a heavy-metal band ("RL") and a sneak in LARP. What's a sneak? think of a gollum-like creature :D

Valier
11-06-2006, 02:56 PM
just a question...was I supposed to pick 2 occupations?

Durelin
11-06-2006, 03:58 PM
Ah, I'm in...

So, I will be a Starcaptain in "RL," and LARP as William Shatner...

If that just happens to be alright.

P.S. - Seriously, I can change that.

CaptainofDespair
11-06-2006, 04:00 PM
If allowed, I will join this merry game...as a Pompous Nobleman. The character shall be that of 'Melneras, the Gnomish Archwizard'

Nogrod
11-06-2006, 04:15 PM
Hope we get a couple of players soon. I don't think Fea's game is about to start very soon as there are only two confirmed players by now...

And with Farael, Durelin and the Captain we seem to have already 13?

One or two more?

JennyHallu
11-06-2006, 04:23 PM
Val, I just split yours into two roles. If that's all right.

I still need roles from Diamond and Rune. If I don't get them, they will be forced to dig the camp privies and be meatshields.

Thank you all for joining my little party...

I now have all the people I need to begin. Signups will be open for another 24 hours, and roles will be sent out tomorrow at this time. The game will start with a Night cycle.

Roles will be:

3 werewolves
1 seer

A ranger will be added if and only if there are 15 players by tomorrow. If you want a ranger, please encourage others to join!

Valier
11-06-2006, 05:04 PM
Val, I just split yours into two roles. If that's all right.

That's alright :)

What time may I ask will the day/ night phase begin again? Just want to know for sure so I will know if I will be around for the deadlines.

JennyHallu

5pm Est.

Diamond18
11-06-2006, 09:41 PM
I shall be a Librarian and my LARP character shall be that of a Dia'l Na Mon the Half Elven Enchantress and Wielder of Azgalthro the Rapping Sword.

Fo'shizzle.

Gurthang
11-06-2006, 11:00 PM
Well, you can count me in. I may not be here in the full, as in like I once was, but I shall make my presence known, make no mistake of that. ;)

I shall be, in 'real life', a Clergyman. And for my roleplaying alter-ego: a Cowardly Knight.

I do have one question: When you say one retractable vote, do you mean we can retract it only once, or we get one vote that is infinitely retractable?

Anguirel
11-07-2006, 01:50 AM
Jenny, I don't know if Fea's game will clash with this one, but if so, I'm in a spot of bother. I've been sworn to Fea's game for aeons. So I'm afraid I might have to withdraw. I'll let you know for certain if I can play by Friday.

JennyHallu
11-07-2006, 06:36 AM
Only problem with that, Ang, is that the game is set to start tomorrow. We'll just cross that fence when we come to it, I suppose.

JennyHallu
11-07-2006, 06:38 AM
Gurthang:

You can change your vote only once each day.

Nogrod
11-07-2006, 06:38 AM
I still believe it will take time for Fea's game to start. There seemed to be four players right now...

Rune Son of Bjarne
11-07-2006, 07:24 AM
I am happy to tell that I have been headhunted for this game! Probably just because people wanted to get the game going, but I am still awfully proud of it.
:p

So can I be a headhunter ?

EDIT: Sorry that will of course be a Temp. Headhunter. . . (wonder how that works)

JennyHallu
11-07-2006, 09:15 AM
Is headhunter your real life or fantasy occupation? And what is the other?

Rune Son of Bjarne
11-07-2006, 09:19 AM
In real life I am a temp. I do random work. . .mostly postal stuff.

Headhunter would be fantasy. . . but really I don't mind if you just assign me something.

JennyHallu
11-07-2006, 09:40 AM
Well, then, you're sort of a headhunter.

Oh, by the by, I'm adding a cobbler. Why, do you ask? Because I feel like it, that's why.

Sign-ups are closed. I'm sending out roles, and then I'll make up a game thread.

Rune Son of Bjarne
11-07-2006, 05:50 PM
OK something has come up. . .I will be working 12 hours both Thursday and Friday.

This means I my time will be limited in this period, I will be around just not as much as I would like. . . .

JennyHallu
11-08-2006, 11:26 AM
This is just to remind everyone (cough*RUNE*cough) that they need to be invisible.

Rune Son of Bjarne

hehe. . .I forgot that I turned it off after the last game.

Valier
11-08-2006, 11:32 AM
just to let everyone know that I will be slightly more quiet in this game then I have been in the past. I work and my hours are weird, so some days I will have more time than others and I may have to vote early alot of days. :)

JennyHallu
11-08-2006, 11:42 AM
Well, I'll add that on the 18th and perhaps the 19th (depending), Folwren will be opening/closing/whatever the days. I'll be moving.

And I'b sick, so I'b talkn knd ob odd. Fair warnn.

Valier
11-08-2006, 01:56 PM
I just had to say that in your narration Jenny, you say I have a mohawk.....You have no idea how much that made me laugh....I have a fauxhawk in real life. Just thought I would share that with you. :D

Volo
11-09-2006, 09:31 AM
I'll be away in the northern wastes for the weekend. The village, Tampere, is so far from the sivilized world that they don't even have walls there, not to mention the internet...

Farael
11-09-2006, 04:20 PM
Sorry Folks... I thought Jenny was in my same timezone, but it seems I'm an hour behind. I thought I had a good hour to post and I was reading all that had been said.... but as it turned out, I got home right on the deadline.

Won't happen again.

JennyHallu

I will write yesterday's narration this evening, but I promise it will get done.

Rikae
11-13-2006, 01:14 PM
I just wanted to take the opportunity to explain my lack of participation... I was unable to get to the computer until late on Day 1, and only got home too near the deadline to contribute much, since I didn't really have time to go over the previous posts. I would normally not be a 'quiet' player, and if I had lived, I would have been much more active in subsequent days. I hope I won't be banned from WW for being so annoying. :(

JennyHallu
11-13-2006, 01:19 PM
No one has ever been banned from werewolf, and unless a mod specifies that his or her game is closed to public sign-ups, as Fea's game was, you're welcome to sign up for whatever game you please. I did not feel your participation to be annoying in any way.

People play at different levels...some, like Gil-Galad post briefly only once or twice a day, and others, like Thinlomien, post reams of thought and information once an hour at least.

Either approach is fine...

The only consideration I think a player should take into account before signing up for a game is whether he or she has time to be as loud a villager as he or she wishes to be.

Nogrod

I would normally not be a 'quiet' player, and if I had lived, I would have been much more active in subsequent days. I hope I won't be banned from WW for being so annoying. :(I will be the first to apologise if you have taken any ill-feelings from my declaration of annoyance with your first post. I didn't like the way you popped in and just voted for the most talked of player at the time with nothing else. Afterwards you came up with your reasons and I was totally satisfied with them. And surely one has a right to just pop in and vote - and others have a right to dislike that gameplay-style (which you were not into as it turned out after I had reacted to your vote)... :D

But really. Don't take those things personally or anything. They are things people say in a game where they try to do something (helping the village or trying to bring it down against others with their own motives).

I have seen no bans on the WW. One case was near it, but it was more a question of abrasiveness to the fullest, not for inactivity or things like that which can be looked as preferences in style...

Thinlómien
11-13-2006, 03:10 PM
Yeah, Rikae, don't take it too seriously, it's just a game. :) Besides, I don't think anyone has anything against you or your playing style. (I've seen a lot more quiet and a lot more annoying - you even weren't annoying btw - villagers and they have never been banned.)

. . . and others, like Thinlomien, post reams of thought and information once an hour at least.I'm flattered of being used as an example, but I really think I'm not that bad... :p

Do you know what I want to say? Do you? It's rude... Know now? It's in Balrogish... Now? No? Well... Zwei to you too!

I've just got my Valier-summary ready and was rather happy with it (having more "I told you. I told you! But you didn't believe me"s in it). I thought that the day would end an hour later, but it didn't, so Zwei! You won't see the summary anymore, luck :p
