Here's the deal, kids:

Boromir88 and yours truly will be modding this adventure together, ergo any game-related PMs that apply to modding should be sent to both of us to keep everyone on the up and up.

---

3 Wolves
1 Seer
1 Cobbler
# Ordos

23 hour Days and Nights, beginning at 10AM EST and ending at 9AM EST. Wolves and Seer should get their pick in by 9AM EST to give enough time to write a decent narration which will then be posted, unless interruptions arise, by 10AM EST. Any village votes posted after 9AM EST will be ignored.

No retractable votes. No edits for any reason, including to say you cross-posted or to fix spelling errors. If you need to say something else about your post, double post.

Basic rules about communication apply. If you're a wolf, you can only PM your fellow wolves at Night. Ordos can't chat amongst themselves excepting during Day times on the game thread. Anybody can PM the mods at all times.

Multiple lynchings are allowed.

All players are to remain invisible at all times during the duration of their game life. Once you're dead, you can turn back your visibility, but no ghost discussions with the living. Dead [wo]men tell no tales.

---

Players can sign up here. This game will not be role-played, though if you want a role for use in narration, feel free.

Title suggestions are welcome.

We'll start ASAP after a minimum of 15 players have signed up.

Put me down as a maybe, and once I find out my level of busyness for the next couple of weeks I'll get back to you.

A simple game does sound fun, but it's Fea modding, so I'm wary of believing it to be as simple as it seems!

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-06-2007, 11:30 AM
It's simple. Even the cobbler was B88's idea. I was simply spoiling for old school. Don't worry, dears, I used up my nastiness (or at least put a dint in it) for my Dark Lady game. Here, when people die, they stay dead and their roles die with them. It's legitimately possible for either team to win traditionally. If you need a reference, read the first ever Tol-in-Gaurhoth. Ain't nobody gonna gift it on this game. Y'all have to rely on wits, that's what.

Rune Son of Bjarne

I shall sign up for this one. . . I should have enough time on my hands as long as it starts fairly soon.

I'll be signing up too.

I should have enough time on my hands as long as it starts fairly soon. This actually is my situation as well. I'll be having all the time for something like two and half weeks from now but from the last days of July (26th or something) onwards I will not be able to be online for some time.

Lalwendë
07-08-2007, 09:20 AM
I might be up for another game at last! The last one was quite stressful - not just due to the rigours of the game, but the timing of it! Have some hopefully quietish weeks at work coming up, and now the adventures of my Gallifreyan hero have come to an end I have a bit more time.

But I shall have to think of a new strategy...

Brinniel
07-09-2007, 01:21 AM
Ooh...a simple game. I don't think we've had one of those since Mac's, which was my first. It's nice to change things up every once and awhile and go back to the basics....I'm interested.

Just a note on my schedule: My family is repainting and recarpeting the room with internet access over the next week or two, and since I don't have my wireless working yet, my access will be varied and may be only limited to (my) nights at times. Don't worry...I'll be able to post, I'm just not sure how often. Also, I'm having a very minor surgery (wisdom teeth) on the 16th and if that is during the Day, I'm not sure if I'll get online at all...it depends on how I'm feeling.

Feanor of the Peredhil

The first post has been updated. I've added onto the player list and I've added the official times.

Brinniel
07-09-2007, 12:58 PM
Oooh...that's very early for me.

Well then, I probably should warn everyone ahead of time that I will most definitely be voting several hours before the deadline, as there is no way I'll be able to get myself up before 8am.

Lalwendë
07-09-2007, 01:05 PM
What are those times in GMT? Well, BST as it's summer time...Is EST New York time? I think that's 5 hours behind GMT so....9am would equal 3pm BST???

Nogrod
07-09-2007, 01:21 PM
23 hour Days and Nights, beginning at 10AM EST and ending at 9AM EST. Wolves and Seer should get their pick in by 9AM EST to give enough time to write a decent narration which will then be posted, unless interruptions arise, by 10AM EST. Any village votes posted after 9AM EST will be ignored.I understand clearly this 23-hour Day/Night -cycle as I've modded myself before... :)

But do you live in a place where you observe the daylight savings time or are you in an area where they use EDT instead during the summer?
EST is 5 hours behind of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)

Note that most places observe daylight saving time/summer time during summer, and are therefore using EDT instead in the summer. Now UTC is the same thing as GMT. So if the Days and Nights begin at 10AM EST, will it be then 3PM GMT (UTC) as I quess (without daylight savings it would be 2PM GMT (UTC))?

To me the timetable is just nice as I myself live in an area +3 GMT so the Days and Nights will start at 6PM and posting will have to cease at 5PM. For someone having a holiday that's perfect - waking up at midday, having the coffee and reading the newspaper and then to start the Day or rush to the last minute action! :D

I just hope we get a few players somewhat quickly as I myself and think at least Rune will have problems if this is going to start later than sooner...

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-09-2007, 01:25 PM
A quick way of figuring out my time is this:

My clock, right now, says 3:25 PM. So whatever time your clock says I posted, there's your math.

Nogrod
07-09-2007, 01:46 PM
My clock, right now, says 3:25 PM. So whatever time your clock says I posted, there's your math.To me it says 10.25 PM - and as I am in +3GMT that means the time was 7:25 PM GMT.

Making the little add-ons and subtractions and whatever one could do... it follows that the difference is -4 hours to GMT - from 3 to 7 that is - and thence -5 for Britain and -7 for Finland.

So:
9 AM EST (for Fea and thence the game - as most of the EST-regions in the U.S. will be on daylight savings but Fea seemingly is not) is:
= 1PM GMT
= 2 PM Great Britain
= 3 PM Central Europe
= 4 PM Finland

I hope I got it right...

Lalwendë
07-09-2007, 02:03 PM
Only problem is I refuse to alter clocks to BST as I think its a sinister modernism...I'll leave you to think if that is what I really think or not...;)

So anyway, it ought to have been 8.25 so my guess at a five hour difference was correct.

There, I really am a Time Lord :D

(for Fea and thence the game - as most of the EST-regions in the U.S. will be on daylight savings but Fea seemingly is not)

I just smile and do what the government tells me. ;)

Question. What do you guys want, mod chosen wolves and cobbler or ones chosen by chance?

Rune Son of Bjarne
07-09-2007, 06:13 PM
It is really up to you. . . .but I actually like the fact that they are mod chosen, it opens up for more speculation.

Nogrod
07-09-2007, 08:19 PM
It is really up to you. . . .but I actually like the fact that they are mod chosen, it opens up for more speculation. It's becoming a habit of mine to disagree with Rune - even if we seem to share most of our basic ideals about life, politics, religion, ethics etc.

But randomness is the state of the art I'd say! That's the way of doing it. No mod-choices but pure random - possibly aided by the hand of the mod if the outcome looks too bad... and what is a bad line-up anyway? If it looks underwhelmed, then it might succeed just because of that?

But in any case we should know which way it is, because if it's the mod-choice we will kill the phantom and Spm first but if it isn't we might actually listen to them... :p
(this last statement is suspectible to change after we see who are attending)

We? Maybe I was talking with a too wide a mouth?

Well, I at least would be ready to hold certain people really suspicious if they were hand-picked by you... :)

Brinniel
07-09-2007, 08:44 PM
I agree with Nogrod...randomness is better. This way people can't use meta-reasoning (whether they mean to or not) and the game will be much more exciting. :)

Rune Son of Bjarne
07-09-2007, 09:06 PM
How does speculating in who has been picked for sertain roles make it any less exiting? Especially in this case where the mod is fea. . . she is cunning, I doubt that any of us would be able to guess who has the different roles.

I just really like that aspect of the game. . .not that it is that much a part of the game, I am seldome change my vote because of it. Still I find the speculation ejoyable.

Nogrod
07-09-2007, 09:55 PM
Still I find the speculation ejoyable.I do find all specualtion enjoyable... and with this as starters we might be sure that we have no way of saying whether Fea will pick the baddies or not... and this discussion will continue in the game...

So nice that you asked this Fea! Now we will think about this in-game as we might not have done that otherwise or we might have dropped that discussion down a bit anyhow...

Sneaky you! :D

Boromir88
07-09-2007, 11:00 PM
Well, I at least would be ready to hold certain people really suspicious if they were hand-picked by you... ~Nogrod
I could include you in that 'certain people' category. :p

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-10-2007, 06:36 AM
I forgot you might not believe anything I tell you.:cool:

In any case, any hand-picking would be approved by B88 before we hit go. I had planned to tell you if I chose randomly or intentionally, though now I'm wondering if I should, or indeed, if even if I did you'd listen. I can already hear the voices of... say the phantom and Nogrod... shouting down the roof of the world that you can't trust anything Fea tells you to be true...

What could be fun is randomly selecting the first werewolf and creating a team around that player. That way any speculation would have to wait until after a wolf dies, as until then, my choice motives would be hazier than they even are on a normal day.

Boromir88
07-10-2007, 03:42 PM
Also, to add, every person signed up already could be a dubious and sneaky wolf ...so I guess I don't see any problem if the wolves are handpicked or chosen randomly. Personally, I think everyone who's signed up would be an excellent choice for a wolf anyway.

And when will everyone just stop trying to figure out the 'cogs' of Fea's mind? :p I gave up a long time ago and learned you just let Fea do what she wants and everything turns out fine. I would lose my sanity if I tried to figure out what she was thinking and why she picked the people she did (and even if she did pick them...that's a whole seperate can of worms ).

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-10-2007, 05:09 PM
I'd pick the phantom, Spam, and Nogrod just to watch them in action on the thread. Do you guys know how much fun it is to watch wolves work when you're in the know?

And just so you know, I have NOT yet picked any roles at all for anybody. The above statement is mere teasing. Please don't bother yourselves unduly with it once the game starts as it doesn't apply.

Nogrod
07-10-2007, 05:14 PM
Please don't bother yourselves unduly with it once the game starts as it doesn't apply. You're really good at this Fea! :D

But hopefully some more people join the game sooner than later as I'm beginning to fear for my timetables in a few days...

Nogrod
07-10-2007, 05:16 PM

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-14-2007, 09:18 AM
Ah but surely my personal challenge is to get Bethberry lynched ;)?

Obviously. But personal challenges aside, the game really is supposed to be simplistic...

So let's see...

Mith will tackle Bęthberry, Nogrod can go after B-W, the phantom has been after Esty for a while now, I believe...

Rune, you should 'take care of' Thenamir.

Who wants Mormegil?

Mithalwen
07-14-2007, 09:40 AM

Rune Son of Bjarne
07-15-2007, 04:56 PM
I really should deal with Thenamir. . .the question is: Should I defeat him with the sword or with song?

Since this is WW I actually think that Mormegil would be the first one I would want to see lynched.

he seems to having a way of making enemies. . .

Mithalwen
07-17-2007, 06:36 AM
I really want to play but both my car and I are unwell which is limiting my extra curricular activities ...

Nogrod
07-19-2007, 03:40 PM
So twelve players out of fifteen? For a second week? Yeah, it's summer and all that. I understand, but still...

Now where are you lurking people?

The set-up looks so promising but sadly I have to say that I'm going to be away from July 27th to August 1st and then from August 5th for a week...

So I possibly need to pull out from this.

Well, that depends... If the game starts asap and we can get it going & you don't mind me being away for a a couple of Days gamewise then it's okay for me at least, but if the game doesn't start soon I will need to pull out...

Mithalwen
07-20-2007, 06:38 AM
I really want to play this game but my car has blown the head gasket (again :( ) and is B.E.R). Since I can just about make it to work (2hr each way commute!!! for 10 miles!!!!) I am not going to rush the biggest purchase of my life just to play (sorry I know I lack commitment...) 45 mins at lunchtime and perhaps half an hour after work in libraries is not going to be enough. I am hiring a car for the weekend(s) ..so I might be able to do more then ... so don't wait for me ...
I suppose it would be too insane for Nogrod and me to gang up? That might just work logistically even if not game wise

The Saucepan Man
07-20-2007, 06:44 AM
You know, we should all club together and get Mith a lap-top and internet connection ... :D

I really want to play this game too, but may be in difficulties if it doesn't start soon. We are away from 1 to 5 August. I could take my lap-top and hope for a wireless connection, but I am not sure that would go down too well with the family ...

Mithalwen
07-20-2007, 06:46 AM
I have a lap top - it is just that after 4 years I have not managed to get it to talk to the internet ...other than for a month back in the day ... by some fluke

I bought a mac cos it looked pretty and led a teenaged cousin who only really knows about PCs set it up....

Nothing in my house works ...technology is stressfull... and I don't have the time to sort things out .... I tend to lose the will to live after phoning "Helldesks)..and the corkscrew always works....

PS I am taking my god-father car shopping so I don't do something stupid like buy a barbie-pink cabrio on the "It looks pretty theory"

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-20-2007, 07:19 AM
Even if we have enough players like... now, right this second... I'm about 120 miles from home. And as of this afternoon, I'll be three and a half hours north of here, deep in the Adirondacks to celebrate a friend's birthday far, far from internet connections, phone reception, and indoor plumbing.

So even if everybody recruits like mad while I'm away this weekend, the earliest I can start is Wednesday morning, the 25th...

:(

Rune Son of Bjarne
07-22-2007, 08:09 AM
Then I should withdraw from the game. . .

This saturday I will leave for an un-inhabited island in the northern Denmark and I do not think there is any internet for me to use there. . .even if there is I would probably not use it as the reason I go there is to be social.

After that I will leave for the USA.

So many places to be and revolutions to start. . .

Lalwendë
07-22-2007, 09:08 AM
Why don't we wait for a bit then? It's not been a good time lately what with the school hols, Harry Potter taking up all our time and Mithalwen's Motor Misery (I think you live on some mystic ancient ley line ;) ). Though if we start soon we can maybe prevent Rune from stirring the proletariat and I am aching for some fun now I've finished The Book...

Mithalwen
07-22-2007, 11:31 AM
Oh Lal don't say that ... I have just bought a car (more specifically a Ka) so I hope my motor misery will be at an end, at the end of the week (I have bought a warranty too just in case.... )..

I am not really in to all that New Age stuff ..I know that the crop circles were manmade ... but the house does have some forest rights (the ponies used to "lane creep" till they introduced cattle grids)... will that do?

Nogrod
07-22-2007, 01:39 PM
I will be back at "full enthusiasm" at Aug 12th the earliest.

After that I can play as the work begins and thence there will be no holiday trips or others... but before it... it looks very bad indeed now. :(

Brinniel
07-22-2007, 03:10 PM
If we wait a bit, then I'll have to withdraw. :(

I will be unavailable August 5-17, and while I could still attempt to play afterwards if it is at all possible, I will be rather busy with a wedding followed a couple weeks later with me moving 3,000 miles back to school...

Legate of Amon Lanc
07-22-2007, 03:39 PM
I didn't even want to pop in, knowing my holiday schedule, and seeing the situation, maybe it even does not have much sense. But if my presence in the game would change anything (and to think that I was planning to give it a break on holidays!), I could sign up, but (of course, there's one "but") like more people here, I'm going away in some time and couldn't play later than to 4th August. And from then on till September I'm totally out. It's up to the Mods to decide - if it is possible for me to play, and if it will help, I'm in. Otherwise, don't bother with me.

Kath
07-22-2007, 04:02 PM
I will be away from August 8th, but then with my recent luck I would be long dead by then so it's hardly a worry!

Nogrod
07-22-2007, 04:03 PM
The summer...

How fun it is the summer! :D

But not ww-wise... :(

Maybe we just wait until there are enough people back from their summer-camps? As I said, after the 12th of August I'm all in - and before that mostly out. And the same seems to fit many others as well...

EDIT: X'd with Kath... well not all of us in the same schedule...

Shastanis Althreduin
07-22-2007, 04:54 PM

Durelin
07-24-2007, 02:02 PM
I move into college August 22nd, and so will not want to be committed to a WW game around that time...probably not for a while after classes start... :(

Also, I'm going on vacation nearly right before that....and the weekend of the 11th and 12th or whatever I'll be busy (I'll be busy, but I might be able to post at least once...), so...ergh.

I guess my time is running short...

:(

Feanor of the Peredhil
07-24-2007, 03:28 PM
So I'm concerned about this game.

Because with everybody's schedules conflicting...
And my schedule looking concerning...

If I knock the cobbler out to simplify and even out good v. bad so we don't need spare players to begin, who can start tomorrow or Thursday morning?

Because if we have to wait any longer, I'm going to have to give up my mod-spot...

Durelin
07-24-2007, 03:31 PM
I'll try and see who I can drag into it ASAP....

I'd hate to see the Cobbler go, but that might work.

Edit:

You can add CaptainofDespair to the list. :D

Oh, and he said he could be an 'efficiency expert' for his role, if it matters....

Holbytlass
07-24-2007, 04:49 PM
The cobbler is always fun but I'm fine with a smaller game to get it going.

Because if we have to wait any longer, I'm going to have to give up my mod-spot...
I think any mod at this time of year will have the same sign-up issues.

My apologies but I'm very probably not going to be here for the next Day. I'm up in Guildford til Sunday (it was originally only going to be for one night which is why I didn't bother saying anything in the planning stages) and I'm not sure whether I'm actually going to have a net connection yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get a couple of posts in but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Anyway, who do I send my game to to look over? I think I host next.

Since the 'Downs has been down for however long over the past 24 hours, I'm giving the wolves/seer an extra 24 hours to do what needs doing.

We'll start the next Day 25 hours from now (our regular time).

I have some unexpected business to attend to, it came up rather quickly (in fact yesterday!) I don't know if Fea will be around or not, but if neither of us are here. You know what to do, talking/voting stops at 9, and everyone do what they're supposed to do.

I'm going to try and stick around for as long as possible, but the 9am deadline is going to be cutting it close. Sorry for any inconvenience. :)
