I've always wondered if Luthien lost her maian powers (though retaining her beauty) after her resurrection. Afterall, she chose to become a mortal, so all the magicks must've been removed by the Powers, right? Also, Dior was born only after the resurrection, which would mean that there's really no maian blood in Elrond... right?

Who said Luthien had "maian powers"?

There is at least one such clue to the contrary :
And from these brethren alone has come among Men the blood of the Firstborn and a strain of the spirits divine that were before Arda; for they were the sons of Elwing, Dior's daughter, Luthien's son, child of Thingol and Melian; and Earendil their father was the son of Idril Celebrindal, Turgon's daughter of Gondolin.
Who said Luthien had "maian powers"?
There is one such case:
But suddenly some power, descended from of old from divine race, possessed Luthien, and casting back her foul raiment she stood forth, small before the might of Carcharoth, but radiant and terrible. Lifting up her hand she commanded him to sleep, saying: 'O woe-begotten spirit, fall now into dark oblivion, and forget for a while the dreadful doom of life.' And Carcharoth was felled, as though lightning had smitten him.

Luthien was powerful, yes, but what are "maian powers"? There were lots of different Maiar with lots of different personalities and proficiencies. I think the question reflects a misunderstanding of power in Tolkien, which is why I was being difficult. Any thread that contains the phrase "all the magicks" should be moved to the novices forum, if not deleted.
