Blood stains the convention center’s walls, and not because they ran out of bumper stickers…

This year’s Omnicon promised much cosplaying, merchandising, and LARPing. A “con” for all types of con-goers, the endless debates could become quite heated. Balrogs and wings, pirates versus ninjas, the gender of the Jedi Exile, Robert Jordan and how many pages it takes him to describe a room, Sephiroth versus *insert name here*, Harry and Hermione, NaruSaku vs. SasuSaku, console versus computer, World of Warcraft versus Lord of the Rings Online…and all of the above versus ‘RL’.

Swords, lightsabers, and shuriken had often been violently gestured with, but no one had yet perished.

Yet.

Rules:

No retractable votes.
First person to reach the greatest number of votes will be lynched.

Game Roles:
3 Werewolves
1 Seer
1 Ranger
1 Cobbler
11 Villagers (or Simple Con-goers, rather)

The Ranger may not protect the same person two Nights in a row, and may not protect him/herself. If the Wolves attack the person the Ranger has chosen to protect, there is no kill for that Night.
The Seer gets to dream every Night, including Night 1.
The Cobbler does not know who the Wolves are, and the Wolves don't know who the Cobbler is.

Narrative/’For fun’ Roles:
Please pick a fandom of which you will be a rabid fan. Lord of the Rings/All things Tolkien, Harry Potter, any anime, video game or computer addict (whether of a specific game or not), etc. Whatever you come up with. (And yes, of course we can have multiple fans of one thing. In fact that would be best.) You could even be a BD fan/addict! You might also wish to specify what type of fan you are, such as movie vs. books, a purist, a fan-fiction writer, etc…

About the Deadline:

1:00 pm EST (5:00 pm GMT, I think) Downs time. This post is time-stamped at 12:18 pm EST, if that helps with figuring.

About the start date:

Wednesday, September 10th, starting with a Night phase.

Rikae - Stalker of the preciousss Andy Serkis
Nerwen - Jedi Master, specializing in memorabilia collecting and movie quoting

(P.S. - We're really at WW 50, right?)

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-03-2008, 10:51 AM
I'm in.

And I would like to be a rabid fan of Cosmopolitan Magazine. With a minor in Star Trek; Kirk and Picard are the only real captains, Data is fair game for fan-fics, Tribbles are a serious issue, Will Riker makes beards look good, and Spock obviously must have been based on Immanuel Kant.

Aganzir
09-03-2008, 11:08 AM
Well, if the game begins at the 25th of September at earliest... then I'm in.
Before that I have absolutely no time for WW.

Durelin
09-03-2008, 11:27 AM
Aww. Well, I have no reason to totally rule out the possibility of it starting that late. :D

Boromir88
09-03-2008, 12:13 PM
I'm in...number 50? It seems not so long ago when I just played my first game!

9 would work the best, but 12 or 1 work out fine too, as far as the deadline

Edit: first I said I wanted to be obsessed with Fireworks, but now I'm thinking the #1 Sean Bean fanboy... Someone want to help me decide?

Durelin
09-03-2008, 12:17 PM
Yay, Boro!

You can always be both. :p

So glad to have you, Fea and Boro!

Boromir88
09-03-2008, 01:56 PM
You can always be both.
ooh, both is good.

Wait a sec...Fea's in this village? Umm...something suddenly came up. :p

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-03-2008, 02:26 PM
Let's see, I'll be a Noldo with a zanpakutou and the Mangekyou Sharingan. ;)

(My zanpakutou's name is Telpelin, its bankai is Lindalė Telpesślion.)

Nogrod
09-03-2008, 03:15 PM
HaHaa. I'm definitely in.

I could be a Spore anticipator with dreams of finally getting to be Eru. :D

(And I really need to stay as an anticipator as even if the Spore will be released tomorrow in Finland I will not be buying it as my PC is just too old to handle it... ;))

1:00 (eg. 5PM GMT) looks like an ok. deadline to me.

Gwathagor
09-03-2008, 03:17 PM
I may as well play as not.

And I'm not a fan at all. Of anything. I ended up trapped in this lunatic convention as the result of a series of wrong flights, deaf taxi drivers, and brochure misprints. My wife is going to kill me, and the department head isn't going to be happy either when he finds out where I was when I should have been at the history conference in Oslo.

1:00 EST isn't a great DL for me. However, if Hannibal can cross the Alps, then I can endure a lousy DL. Humans can adapt to anything in time.

Durelin
09-03-2008, 03:18 PM
There's no backing out now, Boro! :p

Yay, Nilp!

I just realized there's a little problem with my deadline deciding... I want to go with the 'Downs time, because that seems to work fairly well anyway, but of course Downs time is a good bit slower than my clock, so I'm going to need to make the deadline more like 12:30 Downs time (or even 12:00 Downs time). I hope that's not too early.

Or, you know what, I can do something like 5:00 pm EST. Why not.

So 12:30 or 5:00 pm EST - anyone who happens to have a preference just let me know. If you don't care, cool.

Oh I'm so good at making things complicated.

Edit: Cross-posting on the admin thread, how sad...

Yay! Welcome Nog and Gwath! Many lolz at both your roles. :D

Gwathagor
09-03-2008, 03:21 PM
5:00 pm EST is great.

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-03-2008, 03:29 PM
:D, Durelin!

12:30EST is 01:30 local, 17:00EST is 6:00 local, so the latter is marginally better. :p

Legate of Amon Lanc
09-03-2008, 03:56 PM
All right... if the game starts about on the 19th the earliest, I am fine to play. I have to think of the occupation yet, because although a hardcore OroHina supporter just offers itself, I think there are some things which are just too much. Even if combined with the fact that I'd be scheduled to have a lecture proving their connection to the mysterious Ninth passenger of Nostromo.

Hmm... although... maybe: "why not". But, I will think about it yet (in any case, I won't be a LotR movie hater - that's just too "normal" for me. ;) )

P.S. Could please somebody be so kind to "translate" the DL into GMT for me...

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-03-2008, 04:02 PM
12:30EST = 7:30GMT

17:00EST = 12:00GMT

I think.

So, wait, my conversion to local was incorrect, 12:30EST is 23:30 local, 17:00EST is 4:00 local, so the former is actually much better.

satansaloser2005
09-03-2008, 04:18 PM
*pounces*

No way I'm missing ANOTHER game. And this looks awesome! :)

*will return later with further details, but is rushing out the door*

Durelin
09-03-2008, 06:04 PM
Glad to have you, sally! And I hope you might be able to play Legate, guess we'll have to see.

Alright, to make timezone figuring a little easier maybe... The time when I posted this is: 8:04 pm EST 'Downs time.

McCaber
09-03-2008, 09:31 PM
So, I'm in. It's been a while for me and I want some werewolf action.

Shastanis Althreduin
09-03-2008, 09:55 PM
I'm attending, as a rabid Hermione fanboy. :)

Nerwen
09-03-2008, 10:22 PM
I will be an obsessive Star Wars fan, and hence Fea's mortal enemy. I have a vast collection of memorabilia, speak largely in quotations from the films (meaning all I have to do is copy my brother) and list "Jedi" as my religion in the national census.

~Jedi Master N'Rwen.

(Oh, and Gwath's idea is hilarious.)

Legate of Amon Lanc
09-04-2008, 02:49 AM
Wow! Mr. McCobbler is attending the show!

...hey, I can tell you, I've been so long without WW that I really start to feel some of these "abstinence syndroms" on me :D

Brinniel
09-04-2008, 03:06 AM
Count me in. :)

Though can I request that we start earlier than later once we have enough people? I've just feel like the transition from game to game has been a bit slow lately (3 games in 4 months) and I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to lose momentum if I wait too long. Plus, I'm more likely to have less homework earlier which means more time for me to play.

I have too many ideas for a fandom right now. It's so hard to choose....so I'll have to get back to you on that one..

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-04-2008, 05:15 AM
I will be an obsessive Star Wars fan, and hence Fea's mortal enemy.

Oh c'mon, we all know that in a showdown between Starfleet and Palpatine's ineffective little drones, Starfleet has at least three aces in the hole: 1) Kirk could always just seduce Palpatine, and 2) Should that fail, the Picard Maneuver can solve most of the world's problems, and 3) When in doubt, slingshot around the sun and bring back a humpback whale.

:D

Edit: And (http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=e3e3bcccfe&realattid=f_fkobo1na0&attid=0.1&disp=inline&view=att&th=11c299d94eea4ce8)...

Rikae
09-04-2008, 07:23 AM
5pm is much better for me, since I won't be at work at the DL.

Durelin
09-04-2008, 08:08 AM
Awesome, welcome aboard Shasta and Brinn!

Up to 11 (13 if we wait, but then we might lose people, and really if we get started we might be done and the next game might be starting when Aganzir and Legate are able to play, so hey)... I'd like to get about 15 at least, but...

We'll probably start in just a few days - maybe Monday?

And it looks like the deadline will be 5 pm EST unless there are many complaints.

Mithalwen
09-04-2008, 09:44 AM
If it starts quickly I would like to play - I am probably starting evening classes (serious ones for a professional qualification, not something fun alas) in about 3 weeks time so ....

5pm GMT is 6 BST? which woudl be great. However if you go for the other one it might make Mr Nogrod get over his megalomania and vote in good time :p

Thinlómien
09-04-2008, 10:08 AM
Well, if the game begins at the 25th of September at earliest... then I'm in.The same goes for me.
This looks really interesting, but I won't die if I can't play... Maybe it's time to learn to give school the priority...:D

Mithalwen
09-04-2008, 10:13 AM
I think I better be a hard core Tolkienista since really know enough about anything else

Rikae
09-04-2008, 01:16 PM
The preciousss will be at Omnicon, right? I am an Andy Serkis fangirl/stalker.

Durelin
09-04-2008, 02:25 PM
I'm sad we can't have you, Lommy, Agan, and Legate, but we'll probably start quite soon. I'm thinking Monday-ish...

Hrmm, who to please with the deadline... ;) Does anyone have a major objection to either one, or is it all just preference?

Yay, Mith!

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-04-2008, 05:04 PM
Hrmm, who to please with the deadline... ;) Does anyone have a major objection to either one, or is it all just preference?

Just be understanding that I'm in class from 3:30-5 four days a week, so I'll need to vote early.

Gwathagor
09-04-2008, 05:27 PM
Hrmm, who to please with the deadline... ;) Does anyone have a major objection to either one, or is it all just preference?

It depends on what you mean by 'major objection'. I'm busy during the earlier DL and available during the later one, so later is much better. However, I can make the earlier one work by voting super early every Day. I've done it before. It's just irksome when you get attacked just prior to DL and you're not around to defend yourself. That's what happened to me last game, actually.

Shastanis Althreduin
09-04-2008, 09:08 PM
Idea!

I'll see if I can't get Izzy to play. :)

Isabellkya
09-04-2008, 10:44 PM
Shasta only pokes me when more people are needed - never when signups begin. So I miss out on some games. naughty!!

I suppose I am a rabid fan of Vampire Princess Miyu.
oh yes, I think that would work quite nicely. xD

Lalwendė
09-05-2008, 04:42 AM
Mmmm, this is tempting, I've not had a go in a while.....

Mithalwen
09-05-2008, 06:01 AM
Well the 5pmGMT works best for me by a long chalk since it means I could potentially contribute at the beginning and end of days and a little in between as opposed to one short and one long session in the middle. However it isn't a deal breaker. I'll play regardless as long as we play soonish :).

Boromir88
09-05-2008, 06:18 AM
Come join in the fun Lal. :D

Nogrod
09-05-2008, 10:24 AM
Lalwendė, Izzy, Mith... well, well. This is looking good indeed!

However if you go for the other one it might make Mr Nogrod get over his megalomania and vote in good time :pThanks! That was just what I needed to introduce (once again) my message of me trying to do some work (RL) also while playing eg. not posting in a flood-kind-of-a-way all the time... :D

Durelin
09-05-2008, 10:40 AM
So good to see you, Izzy!

And come play, Lal! Pleeeaaase? :p

I'll make up my mind about the deadline tomorrow. If everyone who hasn't given me a silly role could do so soon that would be awesome.

Shastanis Althreduin
09-05-2008, 11:00 AM

Bah! Fea stole my original idea. Alright then, I'll take Harry Potter, books and films unless anyone is desperate to have one or the other. Oh, and just to let Shasta know ... I'll be pro Harry/Hermione. :p

Lalwendė
09-06-2008, 03:04 PM
Will it start soon?* If so, then I am in! I love it even though I'm not that good :Merisu:

I will be an In The Night Garden fan, if so.....:D

*davem is off work soon so we will want to be doing stuff with Ye Childe.

Durelin
09-07-2008, 08:31 AM
Is starting on Tuesday alright for everyone? I'm afraid the deadline will be 1:00 pm EST, 5:00 GMT I believe (my tutoring time is going to change to better fit people's schedules...well, except mine, hehe). Sorry to all the people in the States who will be at work and such.

Macalaure
09-07-2008, 09:43 AM
Is there still room for one?

I'd like to be a Civilization fan with Machiavellian tendencies.

Shastanis Althreduin
09-07-2008, 12:47 PM
1:00 PM EST is 2:00 PM CST, right? I can manage that, but don't expect me to be around very near the deadline on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Durelin
09-07-2008, 12:48 PM
Mac - Of course! Awesome.

Yes, plenty more room! *nudges people*

Edit:

McCaber, Brinniel, and Sally - I'd love to have some kind of silly role for you before things start up. Thank ye!

Nogrod
09-07-2008, 01:12 PM
I'd like to be a Civilization fan with Machiavellian tendencies.Nice to see you Mac! Just to keep up our tradition I should change myselfe into a Civ II fan with Marxist cultural-anthropologist background... But maybe I can be that even if I'm the Spore fan going to create a perfect solidarity of beings...

Wouldn't it be 12?

Erm....sorry, been a bit under the weather and totally forgot this. (Thanks for the reminder, Shasta.:))

Fandom....fandom....blah. Oooo! I heart Doctor Who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/squee]

EDIT: Did you want something more specific than that? Because I can crack my brain in a cracky way if you'd like. Meh. *flails*

McCaber
09-07-2008, 04:09 PM
I'll be the RPG geek, because every con needs one. You know, that annoying guy always talking about AC and d4's and the pros/cons of elves vs. dwarves. We function best in groups, but I can do fine on my own.

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-07-2008, 06:27 PM
Ooh, 1am here. Works. :D

(Gurthang did 2am vigils in ye olden days, so 1am wouldn't be that bad, would it?)

Brinniel
09-07-2008, 08:10 PM
I will be a fan of reality TV. :D

As for the deadline, it doesn't really matter for me as my schedule changes from day to day. Just be aware I might have to vote early on some days due to classes.

Isabellkya
09-08-2008, 01:14 AM
10am my time.
Works for me.

Though, on work days I won't be around; around deadline time. But up to an hour before and hourshours after when I return - yepp. xD

satansaloser2005
09-08-2008, 01:03 PM
Don't apologize; the DL is brilliant! *sees other players glaring at her* Erm, I mean we'll manage.

Heh I'm a militant anti-shipper, by the way, if anyone's interested. ;)

Can't wait for tomorrow! :)

Mithalwen
09-08-2008, 01:18 PM
I don't think I understand any of it ... I think I am going to be a confused hardcore Tolkienista who thought they were going to Oxonmoot ;)

Durelin
09-08-2008, 08:28 PM
The roles will be sent out within the next hour or so unless something drastic happens. ;)

So last call!

Everyone will receive a PM telling them their role.

Durelin
09-08-2008, 10:08 PM
Oh dang. Oh man I suck. Oh lord.

Those of you who got a PM already...yeah...sorry...ignore. :o:o If you didn't open the PM already, please simply delete it! Thank you...

I need to re-do the roles. I will send out roles to just those with a special role soon before Night 1 starts.

Durelin
09-09-2008, 09:49 AM
Postponing the start of the game until tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1:00 pm EST. because I FAIL.

I hope this isn't a problem for anyone. I'm very sorry.

Mithalwen
09-09-2008, 09:52 AM
Dury, stop apologising and remember the Divine Right of Moderators to do as they please. Personally it si fine for me since it looks as if I shal;l have to enrol at college in person tomorrow. :)

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-09-2008, 09:59 AM
the Divine Right of Moderators to do as they please

True that.

Besides... Wednesdays are way better than Tuesdays in my life as a general thing.

Durelin

I apologize for everything, I'm sorry! :p

Mithalwen
09-09-2008, 10:03 AM
Of course the world may end tomorrow if this Big Bang simulation goes pear-shaped - I assume you will take full responsibility Durelin?

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-09-2008, 10:11 AM
So roles will be received then, or have they been sent officially already?

Re Divine Right of Moderators: *hands Durelin the zanpakutou Ryuujin Jakka*

Remember, swish, flick, destroy all creation. Easy. :D

Durelin
09-09-2008, 10:43 AM
*laughs muchly*

*eyes zanpakutou* Well, if the world does end tomorrow, I say you blame Nilp...

Mod stuff:

No, the official roles have not gone out yet. They probably will soon, though, before I decide to re-do them several more times.

Also, I decided to add a Ranger.

Durelin
09-09-2008, 11:20 AM
The official roles have been sent out. If you did not receive a PM, you're just a poor Ordinary Innocent!

Edit: Night 1 has started! Sorry I was a bit late.

Lalwendė
09-11-2008, 01:40 AM
By the way, I am joining in - I didn't look on the Downs so I wasn't sure it had started yet! Very rude of me! :o

So the day/night change is 5pm GMT?

Incidentally, if you were thinking you were safe from the LHC, they're not actually smashing any atoms until later in the month, so there's still time, meh. Better make sure you wear clean underwear 24/7 ;) .....not that it's dangerous, like....

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-12-2008, 08:01 PM
I planned to show up a few hours before the deadline, but due to a death in the somewhat distant part of the family I got home at 1am (the deadline). So, really sorry. :o

Nerwen
09-12-2008, 11:19 PM
I, too, must apologise for the non-vote. I have an excuse, though it's rather a strange one– my cat brought in a small baby possum (live) about half-an-hour before DL.

I, too, must apologise for the non-vote. I have an excuse, though it's rather a strange one– my cat brought in a small baby possum (live) about half-an-hour before DL.

*boggles* I so don't want to know....

This is just to say that I won't be around for the first *counts* six hours or so of the Day. Have to work and then I'm going grocery shopping, followed hopefully by a nap.

Kath
09-13-2008, 04:43 PM
Might I just say: Oi! What's with the new phase of killing me off so early?

Yeah that was it, I'm not majorly annoyed, just somewhat surprised! :D Going back to the land of the silent dead now, I promise.

Durelin
09-14-2008, 11:15 AM
*pats poor Kath*

I'm apologizing again - I have not had as much time as I would like to put into this game so the narrations are rarely going to happen when they should. Of course that's all just silly-ness anyway. Just don't want anyone to feel left out if it looks like they'll never get a darned narration thingy...

Shastanis Althreduin
09-14-2008, 02:02 PM
Apologies for not showing up, I've been throwing up. x_x

Nogrod
09-22-2008, 01:56 PM
Sorry.

Our last choir-performance ended about 45 minutes before the deadline on the other side of the town and I had no chances to both get home and to read any posts to vote... :(

Shastanis Althreduin
09-22-2008, 08:10 PM
This is such a horrible DL for me... I only JUST got back to a computer, and it's ten and a half hours after DL... I have a feeling that if I vote at all in the near future, it's going to have to be very early (if I'm not already being modfired!)

Many apologies.

Isabellkya
09-24-2008, 08:21 PM
I just received an email, going in to too much detail about Shasta's activities for today.
I guess he has been sick and keeping the toilet company all day.

Mithalwen
09-25-2008, 10:35 AM
Thanks for sharing Issy... now we all have too much information.... ;)

Durelin
09-25-2008, 10:50 AM
Aww, poor Shasta! Hope he gets better soon. :( Definitely the worst way to be sick in my opinion.

Agh, he was having that problem over 10 days ago...really hope he's alright.

Wow, this game has been going on for a while... :D

I guess I gave up on narrations.....sorry. School keeps me very busy, especially when I'm studying two dead languages and am actually keeping up with the reading for my other classes. I assure you you aren't missing much amusement, though I do feel bad that all these people are dying and not getting their last words...

Mithalwen
09-25-2008, 11:05 AM
Dury - thanks for the game.... and remember the divine right of moderators. You have merely gone minimalist. We all know you can write so don't worry. In some ways it is refreshing not have to wait an hour to know what is happening. Good luck guys.

Rikae
09-26-2008, 08:34 AM
Durelin - any chance you can end the day early, so the dead can join the discussion? :Merisu:

Mithalwen

I do hope that you will punish Mac appropriately, Rikae, once you have him in your custody ;)

He's modding? And you're playing?

*mentally curses*

I can't. Not unless the game is played only on Thursday and Friday. The other days I won't really be around much at all for the next month or so.

I'm not sure if I'm playing. It might depend on player list and the setup he has in mind. I've got midterms creeping up on me, and I'm being watched like a hawk by my school's admins for any sign of weakness. But I fully intend to play in Mith's game.

When's your game going to happen? Oooh, I want to be in a Mith-game!

Well since my course has been cancelled it will go ahead. I am after Eomer and Di. I am planning a fairly orthodox setup though for narrative reasons I may want to revive the cursed villager. And it would be hysterical for the Narrations if TP were involved - if he can't play I shall make him an honorary co-mod.:D

I'll shoot for your game, Mith.

If I can't actually play, I promise I'll at least do something for it. Just remind me as the game draws near.
