View Full Version : Admin Thread for T-i-G LII: Star Crossed II

I'm probably going to come up with a different name for it once I've ironed out what exactly this game is going to be. Here are the rules and roles (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=13313) for the last game. Some changes may be introduced depending on player count and my own boredom with straight repetition. I believe I'm going to go with something other than an Elven/Animal theme for the Lovers. I may also cut the number of Lover teams down from four to three or two -- depends on participation.

Projected start date is October 27th at 1 AM CST.

Deadline will be at 1 AM CST.

Current player list:

Groin
Lommy
Aganzir
Legate
Kitanna
Gollum
Nogrod
Brinniel
Sally
Shasta
Gwath
Rikae
Mac
McCaber
Fea
Greenie
Eönwë
Lalaith
Eomer

All right, only for the sake of saying it, if the start on 27th holds, I think that's the best thing you may have come up with, I wholeheartedly support that. And I don't even mind the DL, at least not now...

I've got to do this. Remove the question mark beside my name please.

I think he's trying to say yes. ;)

I'm in too, unless stuff changes around here. G'gravy, I'm going to be busy, but the power of the Diamond compels me. Must....play....Werewolf....

Mwah ha ha ha ha--I mean, excellent. Most excellent.

I've been pondering back and forth on whether I should join or not for days now, as I have other things to be focussing on right now, but I don't think I'm going to pass up on this game after all. I won the original Star Crossed, and I just can't miss the chance to defend my title.

Count me in!

I'll play, but the likelihood of me being around for the hours immediately before deadline is pretty low indeed.

17 players, a good number. :) I have some fun new ideas percolating in my brain, and I think they shall work with the current number, but more will make it even better. But the game will definitely be starting on the 27th (with a Day phase, though I'll send roles out on the 26th and allow players with special roles to plot and plan).

 Good for me, though.

Poor you.

Poor you guys? Mornings aren't that bad if you get some sleep. 2am deadlines on school nights when I have early morning classes? I should know better than to let Di talk me into such things...

Call it a whisky-induced stupor if you will (and it would be accurate!) but sign me up, Di. You may do as you like with me. :p

Fea, I haven't even seen you for, like, years. It's going to be emotional.

Poor you guys? Mornings aren't that bad if you get some sleep. 2am deadlines on school nights when I have early morning classes? That has been more like the norm here in Finland the last years... ;)

It will be interesting to see how this works for us here. It will really be different; either an early vote or then just fast skimming through the last 6-8 hours of the Day and a quick vote. I know many of you guys have been doing that for a long time but it will be nice to see how we can manage it... :)

Diamond18
10-25-2008, 12:04 AM
Whenever I've played in a game with an unkind deadline, I just voted early and tried not to worry about. The moderator is really the only person who has to be around at the exact deadline, anyway. If you all just vote early together you'll have to wait for me to show up but then you'd be on equal ground. :Merisu:

On that note, I just got home from work and it's nearly 1:30 AM. So I'm guessing that for the Friday night (or nights?) deadline(s) there will be a slight delay.

I am enthused to have Lal and Eomer fall prey... I mean, join up.

Sadistic wench. ;)

Erm....I mean what an eager and dedicated mod godess to be excited for new players. *shifty eyes*

Just so I've got this straight. The game starts the 27th....at 1am....with a day phase. Correct? (I read somewhere about it starting with a day phase and was just wondering)

Alternatively, I had a really weird, really short dream last night where I got the PM from Miss Di that I was an ordo. Apparently I cried. Meh.

Aganzir

Oh and as for the clock... Real time or Downs time?

Gah they should really get it fixed.

Sadistic....oh yes. I remember that sodding Duck game. *shudder*

Diamond18

Testing...

Edit: Okay, as the 'Downs clock seems to be 22 minutes behind Real Time, I'm going to say the deadline is 1 AM realtime, 12:38 AM Downs time. Is that too confusing? At any rate, I'm working on roles now so you should start watching for PMs.

Oh and Lal, don't lie, those are fond memories you have. :p

Aganzir
10-26-2008, 02:06 PM
So what roles are there now, and how many lover teams? Can the lovers be of the same sex? And what about voting - are the votes retractable, and in case of a tie, who will die?

Diamond18
10-26-2008, 05:13 PM
Be patient, young one.

Diamond18
10-26-2008, 06:06 PM
Okay, roles have been sent out. People with roles know what they are.

As for voting -- no retractions, and in case of a tie the first person to get the majority of votes wins.

Game thread will be up eventually.

No modfire.

Diamond18
10-26-2008, 07:30 PM
It is currently about four hours before the start of Day 1. I'm going to bed now, as I can't stay up any longer. But you may all start posting as soon as the Downs clock hits 12:38 AM CST. I'll be around more tomorrow, should you have any questions or concerns.

And by "majority," I assume that you simply mean the most votes, rather than the actual majority of possible votes?

Aganzir
10-27-2008, 04:07 AM
Okay, roles have been sent out. People with roles know what they are.
But we all don't know what roles there are in the first place, and how many lovers, eh? In your first post you said some changes may be introduced, and I was just wondering if there are any. ;)

I assume she means the most votes, but may the mod goddess correct me (but hopefully not smite me) if I'm wrong.

Diamond18
10-27-2008, 09:28 AM
I meant most votes. IE if Agan has 3 votes and Mac has 3 but Agan got 3 first, she dies.

And I only use those two as an example because they've been the most active today. :p

And to vaguely answer questions raised in the game thread -- yes, the nights' happenings will gradually reveal what all roles there are and such. But I do feel moved to note that there are no "Werewolves." This is a "Lovers" game. :p

It seems my game is just one big apology...

Eönwë

Murderers!

On the other hand, I did have a very strange dream (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=571553&postcount=1460)...
Seemingly I was afraid of Kitanna voting me.

Anyway, I only posted 4 times on Day 2 ( due to time constraints)

Diamond18
10-31-2008, 12:46 PM
Just a note. There's a chance I will be late getting home from work tonight, in which case I won't be around at the exact deadline. I should be home no more than half an hour late -- but if I am, all votes up until I appear to close the Day will count. Just don't count on that, as I may in fact get home in plenty of time to end at 1 AM.

satansaloser2005
10-31-2008, 12:52 PM
Okay, so here's what's going on. Our call for the Haunted House was supposed to be closer to 7pm, but it's now at 6pm, which is right after I get off work. After it's over we're striking everything which will probably last past the deadline. So I'll probably be a woman of very few words toDay, as I know I won't have time to put together any long posts. Just so you all know I'm not avoiding you or anything, or that I'm intentionally being submarine-ish.

Anyway, have to head out to work. Will post when/what I can. Oh, and Happy Halloween!!!!! ;)

So. November 2nd marks the end of Daylight Savings time here in the good ol' US of A. I'm not sure when it happens, I think it's usually 2 in the morning... which for me is an hour after the deadline. So it shouldn't be affecting the start of Day 4, but it will affect the end, depending on where you are. I don't know what's going on in Europe, if any tinkering with clocks is occurring. But here my clock will be turned back an hour. Right now I am exhausted and can barely see my computer screen, so forgive me for not being able to tell you if the deadline's going to be an hour sooner or later or what have you. I know that currently my timezone is GMT -5 and I do believe that after the change it'll be GMT -6.

My laptop completely died today (how sad :( ) and I'm going to need to buy a new one. Which means for the next few days I'm solely relying on libraries and computer labs for any computer access. So I apologise ahead that I won't be around much during the Day, and not at all around deadline hours.

I had an HP Pavilion. I loved it a lot, but I must've gotten one from a bad batch because it's been causing me many different issues since I bought it. I'll probably buy another HP, but I'm not exactly sure just yet.

Don't spend your dough on that! Get a Mac! Way better performance, unless you're in to something specific not made for Macs.

Heh, everyone at my school has a Mac. I know how to use them since my school has a lot of them (for programs like ProTools and Avid), but I've never been as comfortable using them. I don't know why. It's a personal preference thing.

Anyway, I think we're straying off topic just a tad. ;)

All images of Cupid and Psyche involve either nakedness or groping. In many cases, both. Theirs was not a chaste love.
