Some of you won't 'get' this but ever since I read this line in HoME VIII I've been chuckling away to myself about it:
Then lifting the green stone of Galadriel he says: "But Trotter shall be the name of my house."
I know, it's never really occurred to me before how funny it would have been if Tolkien had stuck with Trotter instead of Strider. But now I keep seeing the Tower of Ecthelion as Nelson Mandela Tower and Gandalf as Uncle Albert or Grandad.
It also clearly tells us that when Aragorn went with Eomer in the van, it was a yellow three-wheeler.
Is Frodo Rodders? :D
