For the most part this will be a standard game:

Roles
Three Wraiths (werewolves): Each night the wraiths seek for innocent victims. They're trying to bring down the number of villagers to equal their own numbers. Each night the wraiths send the name of a person they wish to kill to the mod and by morning the victim is toast.

Barliman Butterbur (Seer): The inn keeper hears and sees more than other players in the game. Each night the seer sends the name of the person he/she wishes to dream of to the mod. That person's role is revealed to the seer and he/she uses that information as he/she sees fit.

Strider (Ranger): Each night the Ranger picks someone to protect and sends that name to the mod. If that person is attacked by wraiths in the night they survive.

Villagers: The village is trying to root out the wraiths.

Two new roles:
Frodo (Ringbearer): The ringbearer is mostly an average villager. If he/she us attacked in the night he/she becomes a wraith as well. However, if the seer dreams of the ringbearer the seer has the choice to share this information (through the moddess) with the ranger if he/she feels the ringbearer may be in danger of becoming a wraith.

Bill Ferny (Informer): The informer is working with the wraiths, though the groups do not know the identity of the other. Each night the informer sends a name to the mod who in turn sends the name to the wraiths. The name is a suggestion for a kill, someone the informer thinks is a gifted or the ringbearer, or just too good a player to keep alive. If the seer dreams of the informer his/her role is revealed as an ordinary villager. The wraiths can chose to listen or ignore the informer's suggestion.

There may be retractable votes (one per day per player).
Votes should appear as such:

++Kitanna

Retracted votes should appear as such:

--Kitanna

In the event of a tie the first one to receive the most votes is lynched.
If a player neglects to vote for two days in a row they will be modfired.

Day and Night will be 24 hour periods staring around Midnight -6 GMT.

This game is now open to sign-ups

Oooo another game already! :)

(I'll have to see how my schedule is working out, so I won't sign up for certain yet. Please do put me down with a question mark though!)

After watching Fea and Lari playing the last game there's pretty much no way I could possibly say no. :D

I forgot to add you're free to pick occupations. Also since Bree was home to big people and hobbits you may choose which race you'd like to be. This is merely for narration purposes.

Lariren Shadow

Ok then, big person(not hobbit) and, I can't resist, tavern wench.

Feanor of the Peredhil

I shall be a Big Person, a gardener with a renowned belladonna plot.

A girl after my own heart, tavern wench being my favorite occupation. :)

And a renowned belladonna plot? Wow!

Mirandir

I'd like to be a big person, but I will leave the occupation part up to you, Kittana. Whatever works best for your purpose. :)

I'm in. Most of my reason for being so inactive in Mith's game was that the deadline was horrid for me. This deadline is muuuuch better. :)

I'd like to to be a Big Person, if you please, and a con artist whose hobby is astrology.

Thinlómien
01-18-2009, 10:55 AM
I should finally have some time to play ww again, so count me in. :) This looks very exciting!

I have to see how other people choose their races before I say anything on that... (because it doesn't make much difference to me so I wouldn't mind being a balancing factor... ;))

Legate of Amon Lanc
01-18-2009, 12:14 PM
I would like to sign up. I have not been playing enough of WW lately, and this looks like a nice game, and a setting (even rule-wise) which I might like. I should even have time for active participating (well, I would not sign up if I did not have time for it...).

Actually, nice setting, Kitanna, the setting is actually perfectly fitting the game itself :) Really a good idea!

As for being a Man or a Hobbit... I may as well wait for what is needed for the balance, too. Although I may slightly favour the Men, still - I do not care that much. I guess we cannot be Elves who wander around Bree, meeting on secret glades in Chetwood, can't we? ;)

And it kind of scares me how you state exactly what I feel about whether I should be a human or a hobbit...;)

And btw Kittie, the number of this game is LVI, unless I'm mistaken. :)

It's been far too long! Please sign me up as Mrs. Broadbottle, of course (just call me Bertha). I am a baker, and, although my husband is one of the big people, I'll go all non-canonical (and balance things a bit) by being a hobbit.
Or, if multicultural relationships are frowned upon, I'll be a very petite "big" lady with an aversion to footwear.

A question: does the ringbearer know xer own identity?

Aganzir
01-18-2009, 03:19 PM
Ooh this sounds so interesting. If the game starts soon, I'm in.

Hey Legate we could get married and be the Sackville-Bagginses! Wouldn't that be nice? :)

If not, then I'd like to be a Big Person. My occupation shall be... a tanner! :)

Gollum the Great
01-18-2009, 03:53 PM
This looks fun, Kit. Hopefully I will be around more this game.

What's -6 GMT in EST? I hope it's something I can work with, or may have to give this a miss...

Nogrod
01-18-2009, 04:25 PM
Let's see if I can make it to Day3 this time. Lately both the wolves and the villagers have been just too eager to get rid of me on the first Days / Nights. :p

And as no one seems to be ready to stand out for hobbits loud and clear then I'll be one.

So let me be the hobbit-dealer of "Old Tobo" in Bree. And even if my real name would be Shenanigan Kneejerk I'd like to be called just "Toby".

Aganzir
01-18-2009, 04:25 PM
I believe it's EST -1. A piece of advice: if you're uncertain, you can go look it up in Edit Options. There's a list of possible timezones.

edit: xed with Nog. And even if my real name would be Shenanigan Kneejerk I'd like to be called just "Toby". :D:D

A second piece of advice: just scroll down any page you're on (and have refreshed it) and you can see this:
All times are GMT +2. The time now is 12:27 AM. Which is for me here, but on your screen it shows the time difference to the GMT for you wherever you are - and the current time at your location.

A question: does the ringbearer know xer own identity?
Yes, but unless he/she is turned into a wraith the ringbearer should play just like an ordo.

And btw Kittie, the number of this game is LVI, unless I'm mistaken.
I was too busy to bother checking when I made this thread and now thanks to you, Lommy, I need not bother now either. :D

I think the players' list is up to date, but let me know if I left anyone out.

Hey Legate we could get married and be the Sackville-Bagginses! Wouldn't that be nice? :)
You did well not to consider it and pick yourself another. For a very simple reason. And you know which one it is.

There are no Sackville-Bagginses in Bree.

Yes, but unless he/she is turned into a wraith the ringbearer should play just like an ordo.

Okay, so is the ringbearer compelled not to talk about his burden, by the rules? Because basically game-wise, talking about it may be indeed very unwise for most part (like, if he revealed, he would become a good primal target for the Wraiths, if only to get one more day), but if he was fearing that he may be targeted the next Night, he might consider it a good idea to reveal.

I'm leaving this up to whoever ends up being the ringbearer. I see the role as a more complicated cobbler. Though if not enough people sign up to play I may give that role and the informer role the axe.

And Beregond, you can pick a village occupation and a race.

Ah but maybe one migrated there after the Scouring of the Shire and married this silly hobbit who took her pretty last name?

Yay Nerwen! I've missed you. :D

There are 15 signed up now, which is the minimum I was looking for. How does starting in the next few days sound? This will give plenty of time for anyone else who wants to play time to sign up.

I'll be a crazy ex-ranger who thinks the solution to any problem is "hit it with a sword," and is frequently drunk out of his mind.

Macalaure

satansaloser2005
01-20-2009, 09:21 AM
I think I shall be one of those lovely people that uses their charm, cuteness, and generally adorable nature to obtain favors (and food) from other people in the village, who does nothing of her own but sit around and 'beg' (though I'm beyond begging, of course ;)) for her bread.

Or, as my roommate/duck says, I'm a female Pippin. :p

A Little Green
01-20-2009, 12:43 PM
Okay, I'll be an ex-bear-tamer who is currently occupied with farming carrots. A big person, of course. (Can you imagine a hobbit taming bears?) My, this looks like a lovely game.

Kitanna
01-20-2009, 01:20 PM
I'm so happy to see so much interest.

I still need a few occupations and races from people and while I wait for that I'm going to work on the opening narrations so we can get this game underway tomorrow.

Thinlómien
01-20-2009, 01:57 PM
I'll be Miss Lommie Mugwort, a young Hobbit who just has to put her nose in other people's business. (So, another female Pippin, I guess. ;))

Legate of Amon Lanc
01-20-2009, 02:26 PM
I am going to be a hobbit, too, to balance things a bit (though it still seems quite unbalanced). "Old Leggy", a silly old herring dealer (I have dealings with the Elves, reputedly. How else would one get sea-fish here).

Brinniel
01-20-2009, 05:48 PM
I was originally planning to sit out for a game, but I just can't! Oh, what it is to be addicted to WW. :D

I'll be a hobbit. And as for an occupation...how about a pie maker?

Nerwen
01-20-2009, 07:23 PM
I shall run the local brewery. And I'll be a hobbit.

Because I'm wondering, are we getting our roles tomorrow then?
I'm going to send them now. If you don't receive a PM you're an ordo. Tomorrow will be Day 1. This is also a last chance for everyone to give their race and occupation. Anyone who doesn't leaves that decision up to me and I'll make sure they're awesome occupations.

Thinlómien
01-22-2009, 01:36 AM
Oh goodness, I thought the deadline was at least four hours later.:eek: Well, it's 8am for us Finns, so I will be voting dreadfully every Day. And this also means I don't know how much I will be able to post toDay: I have school, and work, and I promised to see my friends because I was counting on being able to write to ww tomorrow morning when I have an hour off... so I'm afraid you'll get just a few points from me toDay. But after that I should have no problems (except, as said before, i will be voting really early because I'm not waking up earlier for ww, I'm not that mad...)

Well, what am I supposed to say: it's 7 AM for me. But anyway, I should have time to stay around for longer and post sufficiently during the Days, as my timetable is more or less free. Except for the thing that I won't be probably around for the whole Day 2, but I hope that won't be such a big problem, as I really should be active enough on the other Days.

I am going away with my family for the weekend and may have trouble getting Internet access. I will do my best, but don't be surprised if you hear little or nothing from me on Day 5.

Also, the power supply to the area goes out rather often– so if you don't hear from me at all, that's why.

Ah well, poor village. I don't think it stood much chance in the later days, anyway.

But the Wraiths really did a good job... as well as Mr. Ferny, even though he cannot discern Wraiths ;) (may I know though, why did you think I am Frodo?), but you actually kept being a thorn in the village's side, which was quite sufficient.

But we had a brilliant Seer!!! ...In fact, she was the only person who had caught any Wraiths at all  And when it comes to me, I suspected only Nerwen in the beginning, and Aganzir just before I died... and we all know about the rest (*coughsorryFeacough*).

Hey, in other words, I was completely at loss, but it was an amusing game. And I managed to survive quite long! YAY!!! (In the few previous games, I died on Day 1, or very early... that was quite depressing... so this game was actually good. :) I was afraid for start that it might be like that...)

Oh, and Mac. I was pretty certain you are up to no good almost all the time. I must say, by saying that you are a known innocent and emphasising it all the time, I hoped also that the Wraiths might possibly be persuaded to think so as well and kill you at Night, which would be quite helpful and no real loss for us. Of course, it was a slight chance... and had I known who the Wraiths were, I wouldn't have even bothered to try...

But great game! And I really liked to play with all of you, especially those I haven't played with before... now I hope to play with you more in the future, once that I have had a "first encounter" with you!

(And Menel! It was nice to play with you once again as well - and I knew you were innocent! Yay!)

And, of course, thanks to Kitanna. The special roles were quite an addition - one just had to think about them all the time...

Special thanks: To sally for the poems and to Rikae, her sidekick (with not as many posts, unfortunately. Poor one).

Feanor of the Peredhil
02-07-2009, 10:07 AM
Well, Mac, good for you: I didn't figure you out until the end of the day the village killed me. I knew perfectly well you weren't a wraith in this game, but I wasn't convinced of cobbler until it was too late (I was leaning more toward Rikae for that role).

Beautiful playing, baddies. Good try, everyone else.

Thanks for a game that I loved watching, Kit.

Oh, and Legate: I accept your apology. :p
