Here's a very, very cool thing!

Google released the UK version of Street View today and it's ruddy brilliant (and very addictive), not least cause my house is on it. But even better, is Oxford is also on there and it's perfectly possible to take your very own 'walking tour' around the city, taking in sights such as the Eagle and Child, Exeter College and the Bodleian, following in Tolkien's footsteps from the comfort of your own sofa or chair!

As it's controlled by you, you can take as many diversions as you please and stop and look up down and roundabout as you like. No chance of a real pint though or the landlord's excellent beef stew at the Bird and Baby, you will have to supply that yourself. ;)

And does it show all the snow that was on your street or are the shots more recent? :D

No, this was all filmed late last summer, in fact I'm sure I saw the camera car go past me one afternoon somewhere in town, so I'm probably on it somewhere, immortalised on Google, or until some Daily Mail reader has the shot blacked out!

Apparently in one of the Oxford shots you can also find 'Sherlock Holmes' :D
