This is a game in which the entire village chooses who they want to save. Each Day, in addition to voting for whoever you want to lynch, you must also vote for who want to save from being killed in the Night. This game will be set in a village in Middle-Earth (just for your information).
These are the current rules and roles (They may change if there aren't enough players):
Rules and Roles:
Roles:
The Werewolves: The "bad guys" of the game. There will be four of them. When all four are alive, they will be able to vote two players to kill each Night. Once one of them has been eliminated, they will only get one kill per Night.
The Gifteds: There will be three gifteds:
The seer: Each Night the seer votes a player whose identity they wish to uncover. They will be able to tell whether the player is a Werewolf, a Ranger, a Hunter, or an Innocent.
The Ranger: Each Night the Ranger chooses who they want to save from being killed by the Werewolves. The Ranger cannot save themselves or the same person twice in a row.
The Hunter: Each Day the Hunter chooses a target. If they are lynched or Night-killed and their target is a Werewolf, the Werewolf dies. If the target is anything else, then nothing happens.
Warning: There will be some secret and/or modified roles as well.
Lynching:
To Lynch: Each Day, every player must place a Lynch vote. It must be bolded and highlighted with two plus signs in from, like so:
++Eönwë
Once during the game, each player is permitted to abstain from voting, and it must be done like so:
+-Abstain
Warning: If everyone abstains on one Day, a member of the village will be picked at random to be lynched.
One retractable Lynch-Vote is allowed for each player during the course of the game. No multiple lynchings. If there is a tie in voting, the lynchee will be decided randomly by the roll of a die.
Guarding
When a person is guarded, then cannot be killed by the wolves that Night. If the person is a wolf, they may not make any contact at Night with the other Werewolves (therefore they may not PM, and they will not be counted as a living werewolf for that Night). If this wolf is the hunter's target, they will not be killed. If the person is a seer, they can have their dream. If the person is a ranger, they cannot protect anyone. If the person is a hunter, they can still pick someone to hunt, but it will only count during the Day phase, as the hunter will not be able to attacked that Night.
To Guard: Each Day each player must choose someone who they want to be guarded in the Night phase. It must be written like so:
++Guard Eönwë
Two retractable Guard-Votes are allowed per player for the duration of the game. Players cannot vote for themselves. You cannot vote the same player for two or more Days in a row. The same person cannot be guarded more for two or more Days in a row.
Modfire
If you do not vote either way for three consecutive Days, you will be modfired. No exceptions. This includes if you do not Guard-Vote one Day and do not Lynch-Vote the next, etc. If this happens when all the Werewolves are alive, they will only get one Night kill.
Deadline: Deadline will be 22:00 GMT (Which is 23:00 UK time, 18:00 EST and 17:00 CST. If your time-zone is not there then check what time it works out to be here (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.co.uk/))
And most importantly: Have fun! It's a game.

I'm not sure if I can play yet.... but I am a little bit confused on the night guard thing and the wolves getting to pick 2 players. So the village gets to pick someone to be guarded. Got that. What confuses me is since the wolves will be picking as well and will know who is guarded then they wouldn't try and kill that person so the guard seems kind of pointless... I think there is something major that I'm not understanding probably about the two wolf pick things so maybe if you can explain a little bit?
Also is there a time when you want to start by and a time you are considering for DL?
Thanks!

I am to deliver the message that wilwa would like to be added on with a question mark, she will be gone a few days, and will let you know for sure when she's back.
I wish I could sign-up too, but school started back up, and I'm going to get real busy in a week. Best of luck to ye Eonwe. :D

Ok.
You're right about the fact that the wolves know who's being saved. It's just that the village gets to choose someone who definitely won't be wolf killed. That's why we still have a ranger.
The two-wolf-kill thing will only work in a larger village, when there's enough people. I might get rid of it and/or one of our wolves if we don't get enough participants.
Also is there a time when you want to start by and a time you are considering for DL?
Thanks!
DL is 22:00 GMT (it's in the first post). The game will start when there are enough players.

This looks too interesting to miss, and the DL's ideal for me. I'll be the mason.
As for the village name - if it's somewhere in the Shire, I'd suggest Upper Downsbury.

I probably won't be as active this game, just to let you know. The DL may or may not conflict with work (if they ever give me an office and thus trap me there all day....heh). In other news, I think we need a library. Consider me the book mistress. :)

Each Day, in addition to voting for whoever you want to lynch, you must also vote for who want to save from being killed in the Night.
Sounds like an interesting concept. Though, is there going to be a rule where we can't vote to guard the same person on consecutive Days? Because while it'll be awesome for the village to have a chance to keep a revealed gifted protected for an extra Night, it'll really suck for the wolves if they can't ever kill the seer if they were to reveal.
Thinlómien
08-25-2009, 01:11 PM
Count me in too. Can't resist trying to play with Mnemo and playing with Legate after a long while. Besides, your rules look interesting. (Although - should it be banned to vote yourself in the guard vote? I think that would be sensible and prevent the vote from spreading to everybody voting themselves.) I will be a gardener.
PS. Hakon is twice on the player list. ;)

Well, I was hoping for quite a large village, but it seems that we may, at most get a few players. I was thinking of leaving it open for people to sign up for another 36 hours from the time of the DL today, and then starting the game the day after tomorrow at DL. However, please state your preferences (this goes for all of you) as I am willing to change it if enough people want to.

The Game Thread looks very promising! You're making this a hard one for the wolves, aren't you?
And if that person is a wolf, then he or she will not be able to join his or her fellows, which will lead to less carnage in the Night.
I think this could do with some explanation. Exactly how will it affect the Nightly kills if, say, one wolf of four is Guarded? Does it mean there will be only one kill that Night, same as if there were only three wolves left? And what about Nightly PMing?
Great that you put Form in the narration! That way his spirit will be with us, even though he can't play (sadly).
And I'm all for being in character as much as possible! I love that about the early games, as far as I've read 'em.
Do I need to mention that I'm also beginning to get very curious about those secret/modified roles?

Basically, the wolf is has to act as an ordo for the Night (The seer will still see him/her as a wolf). I can't say anything else for certain yet, because it depends on the number of people playing. And I can't tell you too much anyway. :p

Just so everyone knows, while I will be able to be around, my participation will be limited this week, specifically the first two Days. I'm packing up to fly cross country on the 2nd and then I'll be in the process of moving into an apartment. Once I arrive, I think my time will be better, in between moving the furniture...though I probably still won't have time for those long analyses that take me hours to write. I feel quite awful about my participation level these past few games, so I'll definitely try to do better this time around. This past month I've been moving one place to another and it's been quite hellish, so I'll be glad to be done with it.

Just a few notes that I forgot to write in the rules:
-If a ranger is Night Guarded then xe cannot save anyone.
-If Night Guarded, the hunter can still select a target for the next Day, but it will be of no use in the Night, as xe will not be attacked.

And what if a wolf is guarded by the village, the Hunter chooses that wolf, and then the Hunter dies? Does that wolf still go down with the Hunter or no?

If alonariel does not vote toDay, she will be modfired. As stated in the rules, this means that the wolves will only get one kill toNight. Logically, this would mean that whether the person who is guarded toNight is a wolf or not, they will still get their kill (there will be a minimum of 2-3 left).

Had a really fun time trying to access the net yesterday, so yeah.
Sorry about that.

Sorry for not participating toDay. I had just logged in and begun to write a post when I got a phone-call from a friend with rather nasty personal problems, which had to take priority and took 2-3 hours. After that, I don't have a clear mind for WW right now.

So did anyone else just scroll down and see "Wilwa: innocent" and then have a shock when they actually read the narration? Or was it just me?
Anyway, I dunno how I'll be on participation toMorrow, so I just wanted to give you all a heads up.

I did. First "what?! I'm dead?" then, "wait, was I not the hunter??". haha, surprising thing to come home to. :p
k, it from me since I'm dead :p. Good luck with the rest of the game guys!

They'll need all the luck they can get. Terrible odds, now. Tsk.

Shut it, you canine corpse. ;)
I can imagine, Wilwa.
Also, Steve, a rehash of Nienna's question if you don't mind.

I was just trying to see if I could catch you all out! :p
No, it would appear that trying to mod a WW game during school-time was not such a good idea... Anyway, all fixed now.

If ya like, Nog, you can blame my internet. I tried to submit my vote like three minutes before the DL but it refused to load the page so I was late.

Thanks for your kind responses, everybody! You're really a sweet bunch of people, do you know that?:)
Yes, I think everything's getting sorted - it's just that my friend had been having those problems for years and never mentioned them before, so I was rather taken aback. But it seems like she's getting better now.
I'll be back tomorrow!

Well, obviously, RL takes priority by miles.

Well, I hope it all works out.
And I'm glad to have you back so soon, Pitchie.

Just wanted to apologize for disappearing off the face of the earth (most especially to Eonwe) - beginning rehearsals + car being towed + court preparations + financial issues = one great heaping pile of distraction that resulted in me completely forgetting about the internet for a week. :( Sorry.

Hey, Shasta, sounds like you've had a rather stressy and rotten time - sorry to hear that. Hope everything's going to be all right, and look forward to seeing you in the next game!
