Admin Thread for TIG LXIX: Meeting at the House of Usher [Archive]

Whooooo back to WW! So this one time Lari and I are trying to watch Indiana Jones but I was yelled at to get a thread up so here I am getting a thread up.

Basically the game is going to be Poe-themed (as in Edgar Allan). (the title might change depending if I can come up with something better)

Just for kicks, here's a basic rundown of how this is going to go down (the more detailed version will come when I'm not watching Harrison Ford be awesome):

Theme: Poe (aka dark and depressing, lots of people dying and such)

Roles:
Seer - can dream of one person per Night, if obtains identities of Hunter and Ranger they can communicate during the Day phase only
Hunter - picks one person per Night phase. If the Hunter is killed at Night, the person they were hunting is killed as well. Can communicate with the Seer/Ranger if dreamed of.
Ranger - picks one person per Night to protect. They can protect the same person two Nights in a row, and can protect themselves. Can communicate with the Seer/Hunter if dreamed of.
Lover pair - two players on their own team. They can only win if both survive until the end. If one Lover is killed, the remaining one gets a revenge kill, which must be used within three Days of their counterpart's death.
Werebear - Is awesome. *ahem* The Werebear is on it's own team and gets to make one kill per Night. Must be the last one standing to win.
Cobbler - Not gifted, but wants the wolves to win.
Wolves - Get one kill per Night phase, get to communicate during the Night phase only.
ordos - want to kill the wolves and werebear so they can win.

Voting:
*votes must be in by deadline (:00 counts, :01 doesn't)
*must be highlighted
*can abstain from voting once, but must say that are doing so
*modfired if don't vote for two consecutive days without decent reason
*one retraction per day, three for the whole game

Deadline will probably around midnight EST but that's negotiable.

Since Nienna and I are co-modding this one, you can let either of us know if you're interested in playing. :)

If the werebear and a wolf are the last ones standing it all depends on who submits the kill choice first. The chances of that happening are pretty slim though.

Yay! We're going to hold off on starting for a little while (no more than a week) so a couple players that otherwise wouldn't be able to play might be able to.

Count me in seems to have become my catch phrase when joining werewolf games so uhh yea count me in. I am a Poe fan as in I have read a few of his works but not many. I do plan on reading more sometime soon once I weed through the 30 something books my dad has given me to read. They are all great books. I will shut up now.

You pretty much told us that Boro and Fea are probably going to be the lovers.

That deadline is workable for me. I find whenever the deadline is late at night I end up staying up a few hours past it. McCaber's game actually had the best deadline for me since it was in the middle of my day. That meant I was limited in the amount of time I could be on and it did not screw with my sleep.

As for the Boro and Fea thing, they are the ones that I might potentially be holding the game for.

As for the deadline thing, there's no way that it'll be in the middle of the day. Both the mods are much too busy for that. Nighttime is negotiable because of work and such.

Some things to clarify because I'm bored not doing my homework and feel like I should contribute something useful.

Highlighting looks like this!

and functions like [ highlight ] writing [ / highlight ] - just without the spaces

Voting should be made with a ++ and on a separate line (like a little island of voting as Fea puts it). It should look thus:

I'm a bit OCD so voting this way will make me a very happy person.

Lovers are allowed to PM during the Day phase ONLY. I assume this goes the same for gifteds who can communicate but I'll have to check with Mira.

There will be NO Meta game anything so don't even try it. There will also be no clues or hints in the narration of any kind.

Also ask for any clarification of the roles on here before they are given out. After roles are assigned ask no more clarification publicly and instead PM your assigned Moddess. Or PM both of us, it matters not.

On that note we are stealing a page from Boro and Wilwa's co-modding and I'll have the good guys :D and Mira will have the bad guys :mad:. This just helps us keep our PM boxes open and keeps confusion from ensuing. :smokin:

Hmm, I am not particularly familiar with Poe but I am hungry (like the wolf) for more WW games and I do like a game with a Werebear, so count me in. :)

... is everyone good with a 12:00am EST deadline?It's not great for me, as it will I think be 5am for me by the time the game starts. But it appears to suit the majority, so I will just have to vote a little bit earlier than I normally would.

Does that sound more a little more even?

I think SPM is referring to the event of a revealed seer. The ranger being able to protect a revealed seer two Nights in a row is rather unfair to the wolves, and potentially devastating for them, as last game demonstrated.

Also, the lovers- are they the lovers I've seen before, where one is a wolf and one is an innocent? Are they both innocents? Or is it completely random how they will be set (after all the roles are decided, the lovers are picked at random, allowing for any combination.) It also seems unclear- does the one lover die after the other is killed? Or do they just get their revenge killing?

I believe we decided that the ranger would only be able to protect from one killing so if the seer revealed the ranger would protect xem but then if both the bear and the wolves attacked the ranger would only be able to stop one attack and the seer would die. The ranger is allowed to protect twice in a row but no more than that. After the kills went down to one then the ranger wouldn't be able to protect someone more than once in a row.

However, if the consensus is that this is unfair then I'm sure Mira will change it.

I believe the lovers are neither innocent, nor bad. They want to win and they don't care how it happens.

Yes, I've only recalled them counted in the innocent tally, just innocents who will first do what is best for themselves, not necessarily everyone else. Like the Cobbler, who is typically counted as an innocent, but works for the wolves.

I believe this is how it goes:
They are counted as innocents in the tally, they just don't care who wins aslong as they make it to the end, sometimes this could involve helping the village, other time it could involve helping the wolves, whatever keeps them alive. Example: if the lovers are left standing at the end with 2 wolves, both the wolves and the lovers win.

Aside from Nogrod's most recent game, I've always seen the lovers as one being a wolf and the other being a villager. It's different in the card game.

Still, the rules are unclear- the surviving lover gets a revenge kill, but do they die afterwards?

Nienna is indeed correct about the ranger shenanigans. Can protect twice in a row, when it's down to one kill a night can't do that any more.

Lovers count as innocents in the tally, but then again so does the cobbler, so do with that information what you will. In some games the remaining Lover dies after getting their revenge kill, but we decided to let them keep playing for kicks.

Night One will start at 12am Monday Morning (there is a time change between now and then... so I'm sorry I can't put it in GMT). Maybe others can help us out with that... my clock says that my time is now -4 GMT but with the time change I don't know how that will effect it.

So here's how this went/is going down. I just stuck pieces of paper with roles on them in a hat and Nienna picked a player and I drew from said hat. Good guys will be getting a PM from her, and the bad guys will be getting one from me. Night 1 will start at midnight tomorrow (Sunday). Any questions from this point on should be addressed via PM to either Nienna or myself.

Sorry, but I have to announce that I won't be able to participate at all on Day 3. My wife and me will be attending a weekend course for beginning dog breeders on Saturday and Sunday, which I'd conveniently forgotten about when I signed up for the game, and I didn't realize until today that Sat/Sun will be Day not Night:o. I'll be back alive (hopefully) and kicking on Day 4.

Cool! That would have been a guess (considering it's near Veteran's Day around here) but I thought it strange that the two of you would both have it, since it just popped up recently. Very nice, and kudos on the spirit. :)
