I came across this very amusing parody of LotR in the style of a number of 1940s films, including in particular The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and The Big Sleep:

The cast includes:

Humphrey Bogart as Frodo Baggins,
Sydney Greenstreet as Gandalf,
Marlene Dietrich as Galadriel,
and Peter Lorre as Gollum. :D

That was soo fabulous!

Few minor discrepancies notwithstanding it was just awesome!

Peter Lorre as Gollum was just a fantastic idea! Sorry Andy Serkis, you're good but... :p

The baddies beating Bogart at "Weathertop" and leaving with saying "stay out of Mordor" was so preciouss!

Kind of reminded me of the "Dead Men Don't Wear a Plaid" from the late 80's.

Heavens, I'd forgotten about this!

I think the best scene by far as to be the director's innovative take on Galadriel. What a vamp!

Haha, that's really classy!

Love the matter-of-fact delivery of Humphrey Bogart.

"It's the ring Frodo, it must be taken and thrown into the fire, in Mount Doom"

"Alright"

Ah, this takes me back. I first saw this years ago, long before I became a wight.

Truly inspired casting!
