All right, being something of a connoisseur in the matter of beer, I found this quite neat: Hobbit pub glasses and steins (http://www.uberreview.com/2010/09/etched-glassware-lets-you-drink-hobbit-style.htm).

They attribute the names "Green Dragon" and "The Prancing Pony" to The Hobbit instead of LOTR, but that doesn't stop me wanting one.

I saw that on ThinkGeek. Of course, if they really wanted it to be The Hobbit they'd have Forsaken Inn steins, which would be incredibly awesome. Except for the fact that I rather doubt the Forsaken Inn would have the budget for its own specially etched glassware.

My best guess is that Saul Zaentz is trying to release merchandising to coincide with The Hobbit film... if it's ever made...

Probably. Ordinarily I'd shun such shameless commercialization, but I could make an exception in this case.

But surely that is a short measure... a pint is 20 oz where I come from... Where are the trading standards in Eriador?
