I spy with Sauron's eye (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=17246)... or maybe a palantir...

OK, so this is a game of ME "I spy". For those who do not know how to play, it's fairly easy. I say "I spy with Sauron's eye something that is [ insert colour (s) ]", and you have to guess what it is. You have to continue guessing until you name the thing that I had in mind. The person to get it right says the next colour. If no one can guess, the person asking can give clues.

Example: I spy with Sauron's eye something that is gold.

- Is it Laurelin? No.

-Is it Finrod's hair? No.

-Is it Lothlorien? Yes.

Let's start with something easy. I spy with Sauron's eye something that is black.

PS: Please don't choose things like "grass" or "sky". Do something interesting ME-related. However, you can do places/things/etc that involve something like that. (eg I can say that Calenardhon is green, because it's grassy, but my object is Calenardhon, not grass.)

Okay...let me start...:D

ummmm...let's see...How about Mormegil? Turin's black sword? :p

Do you mean Gurthang? Mormegil was Turin's nickname.

Gurthang - no.
Mormegil - no.

Grond (or whatever it's called; Melkor's hammer)?

Melkor's cloak? ;)

Galadriel55

Gurthang - no.
Mormegil - no.
Grond - no
Melkor's cloak - no

Clue: don't go into details. It's something BIG.

A Valaraukar of Morgoth?

Galadriel55
04-12-2011, 08:53 PM
Gurthang - no.
Mormegil - no.
Grond - no
Melkor's cloak - no
Valaraukar (Balrog) - sorry to disappoint you, but no. (I think it's more black+fiery... :p)

Don't think of people. And think BIG.

So, that whole fiery thingy would cover Mount Doom... let's see... umm... Barad Dur? String, or nothing!

Galadriel55
04-13-2011, 04:00 PM
You got it! It's Barad-dur! :D

Your turn!

PS: I means that the Balrog would be fiery and black, not the thing I had in mind. Sorry for the misunderstanding. But you got it anyways!

Hurray for my side! **pats self on the back** I had hoped that string or nothing was the answer but Barad-dur will suffice! Ok, not people, but things...

So, ok, here goes...

I spy with Sauron's eye... or maybe a palantir...

Something that is grey

Gandalf? (before his rebirth, that is)

Azrakhor Akallabeth
04-13-2011, 08:24 PM
Gandalf- No. It's not a person.

Galadriel55
04-13-2011, 08:26 PM
How about a lorien cloak?

Azrakhor Akallabeth
04-13-2011, 08:31 PM
Lorien Cloak- No. Wrong substance.

Galadriel55

The rocks and stones
Are hard as bones
All bare of meat
And now we wish - we had an answer. :p

Nah, that's too general... my guess is... um... um... Mitheithel (Grey Springs, grey, right? ;))

Azrakhor Akallabeth
04-13-2011, 08:54 PM
Getting warmer. Fantastic guess, but no. Not Mitheithel. You are on the right track with stones. But it is specific thing of stone, and not a Palantir. As you said before think big!

Perhaps if I bent the rules and gave a small clue? Don't Censure me if I take too much liberty, just boo me down...

I spy with Saurons Eye
An object grey and cold-
Not caverns deep,
nor vaulted Keep,
still, something new
yet old.

You're alowed to give any kind of clues you want.

Helm's Deep?

Azrakhor Akallabeth
04-14-2011, 05:45 AM
"nor vaulted Keep"

Helms Deep falls under this. So, Helm's Deep- No.

Galadriel55
04-14-2011, 03:19 PM
...Misty Mountains?

That was random. :p

Misty Mountains: No, and Too generic

"still, something new
yet old."

Old would cover the Misty Mountain Range but something new? Think of a thing newer than it's host object of origin. Here is another clue...

Beyond the tall
and frothy falls,
The Faithful's
northern lands-
not marked by gates
or fortress walls,
but stern majestic hands.

Even the least inquisitive of Hobbits could guess this one, now. :D

Galadriel55
04-14-2011, 05:39 PM
I'd say the argonath, but they are near Gondor, not Arnor.

Unless the clue means to the north of the land, and then it makes more sense.

Azrakhor Akallabeth
04-14-2011, 05:46 PM
Yes. And yes. And yes. And again, yes. :D

Galadriel55
04-14-2011, 05:58 PM
All righty then...

I spy with Sauron's eye something that is silver.

A Dwarven Perspective~

Not pallored moon
nor star so fair
nor Anduins'
ribboned trail

not Celebrimbor's
silvery hair
compares
to Mithril Mail.

-Frodo's Armor

Galadriel55
04-14-2011, 08:27 PM
If your guess is Frodo's mithril coat, then I have to say no.

Telperion?

Galadriel55

Telperion?

I must admit that I do not remember the answer, so if you want you can take the thread! :)
