Admin Thread - WW LXXXVIII: Trouble in the Misty Mountains

Hello and welcome to the (incredibly long overdue, shut up I know) next WW game - Trouble in the Misty Mountains!

This is a relatively simple game that will grow slightly more complex if I have enough people. Should the number of players be less than 15, it will be a simple 3-wolf game, with a seer/ranger/hunter. Should I get more than 15, however, I'll be adding in a werebear that becomes a regular wolf if attacked (thoughts on this would be appreciated).

For DL, I'm looking at my schedule, and really, the only time I can consistently be at my computer, every day, is midnight CST as per usual. :/ Sorry, Europeans.

I don't know how my time/participation will be (depending on when we are planning to start), but then again, I haven't played WW for ages, so whatever! I think I'll play.

As for the setting, I am more than happy with a simple game, but the werebear-thing, if it comes to be, sounds also rather brilliant (and in any case, while it's a "non-basic" thing, it still isn't anything groundbreaking). I think there isn't any rule-issue or imbalance-issue if I think about the werebear (apart from "woe be us if the WWs actually succeed in turning him!). Maybe just this question - will turning the Werebear mean that the WWs will get an extra kill per Night? Or will it mean that the Werebear would simply become a Wolf, and thus, the number of kills per Night will actually drop at the point when he is turned? Or maybe the number of kills will depend on the number of WWs - say, we have 3 WWs in the beginning, they have one kill, but once they become four (by turning the WB), they get an extra kill, but once one of them gets lynched, they are back at one kill? I am also currently trying to figure out whether it might not be interesting, in such a case, that the Werebear would be actually the figure granting the extra kill - i.e. the kill will not depending on the number of WWs, but on the presence of the WB. Once the WWs lose him, there will be one kill less, but if there is e.g. just one Wolf and one Wolfbear, they still get two kills. Maybe that idea brings in too much inbalance, however (or more like, confusion). But just as food for thought...

Also, once the Bear has been turned a Wolf, if all the "natural" WWs die but the Wolf-Bear survives, will it still count as Wolf victory? (I'm assuming yes, but just for the sake of clarity I am asking this now...)

That is, if we really get to have a bear in the end anyway...

I'd like to join, but I must say upfront" I have one hour of activity on my lunch break and then four hours at the end of my work day and maybe half an hour before work if I wake up. I'm in (preferring a European-friendly DL of course, but I'll manage either way). The quasi-cursed Werebear is a nice idea, I hope we'll get enough players together to try how it works.

Sorry to say I can't make it. A week earlier or later would have worked out, but I am going on holiday tomorrow so no WW or Downs at all for me for a week. If the signups are still open then, I'll try to fit WW into my busy schedule...

The way I was thinking it, in order to balance out, the wolves would gain a member, but the number of kills per night would go down to 1. It makes sense canonically, too.

Shasta - for the timezone illiterate ... what's the DL for me going to be? Like 5am? If so I can still play but my posting time will be pretty limited and my final post (of, you know, my usual 2 :D) will be around 10pm my time. If that's acceptable I'm in though. :)

I am back from vacation, and much busier than I thought I'd be. You can count on me joining if you need an extra person, though. Never too busy to stop a WW game from happening. :D

If we could have gotten started then I'd be able to stay around, but before the weekend boss contacted me with urgent job. The dude who was originally responsible to do this was canned and I'm temporarily filling in for his duties until they get someone else. It's somewhat good because it's a promotion and pay bump, but it also leaves me stuck doing databases and research all week. I'm going to be dreaming in spreadsheet format for weeks.

Ten is indeed a little meagre, I'd say; twelve would be a reasonable minimum IMO (without the Werebear-cum-Cursed, but by all means keep the idea on the back burner for another game!). What is everybody doing these days?:(

Excel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EXCEL) is the one I'm familiar with. I don't have to use it much, thankfully.

haha I was joking about the condition. Familiar with microsoft excel? That's spredsheets and my work the past 2 weeks has had me creating spreadsheets on high schools to input data on them. I've only got a handful to do this week, so I seek to rejoin. Since all I've stared at lately is spreadsheets, I fear the only way I can comprehend data is if it's in a spreadsheet (but don't mind me nor pay attention to that condition :p)

Of course what a good start would it be without some trouble appearing, I won't be online on the weekend, aside from that, my internet at home seemingly has just decided to stop working (but I hope I'll get to solve that in a couple of days or even earlier). But nay, if this is what works the best for all people, then go ahead, in the worst case you won't have me appearing on Day 1/Night 2 (or, 1, if you put it that way) or something like that.

Yep. Halloween weekend will be a bit hectic since I'm supposed to be entertaining a guest, but starting Sat, making Day 1 Sunday works out for me.

Welcome to the Downs, Azura and Laeko_Randalis! We don't get that many genuine newbies (as opposed to spambots) these days, much less new Werewolf players. Make yourselves comfortable and enjoy being dead!

Once the game has started, you'll want to turn yourselves invisible (go to your User CP, select "Edit Options", check "Use Invisible Mode", scroll all the way down and click on "Save Changes").

Our esteemed leader was kidnapped this evening and taken against his will to some horrible ceremony called a....Halloween party, I believe he said. I was too distracted by his tortured cries and anguished screaming (which somehow managed to carry over into his text message) to catch exactly what trauma he had undergone, but that seemed to be the gist of his dilemma. Roles will be sent out as soon as he can escape said terrible place and get access to a computer.

It's not like we're saying anything that would somehow change the outcome of the game. We're not saying "I know that X is such and Y is such", we're just supporting our respective "teams". So unless you can determine from "GO VILLAGE GO" that I strongly suspect playerZ, I don't see why it's a problem. :confused:
