In the book of lost tales Tolkien speaks of gnomes and faires what are?

I don´t know but I can guess; Gnomes would be dwarves with an orcish aspect. Faires would be the Tinkerbell-kind-of-Elves

In the book of lost tales Tolkien speaks of gnomes and faires what are? Fairies in Tolkien's early work was another term he used for the Elves in general. Gnomes was one of the names for the second kindred of the Elves, the Noldor, or in the Lost Tales Noldoli.
