"To Legolas she gave a bow such as the Galadhrim used, longer and stouter than the bows of Mirkwood, and strung with a string of elf-hair. With it went a quiver of arrows." - Book 2, Chapter 8 "Farewell to Lorien"
I don't recall anything else being written of his bow.

The book does not say of what wood Legolas' bow was made. However, it is mentioned that the boats the Galadrim gave to the Fellowship were made of a wood that even Legolas did not recognize, showing that the Galadrim were know to use woods other than Mallorn.

I would ahve guessed that it was made from Mallorn, but if Legolas didn't regognise it then maybe not... smilies/confused.gif

I would have to agree with greycloak. My first impression would be mallorn, but certain woods work differently for different uses. Maybe Mallorn wood does not bend?
