View Full Version : Buying LOTR stuff
Child of the 7th Age

I admit it. Before the movie came out, I ran around groaning about the commercialization of Tolkien, and how we were going to have to deal with Aragorn breakfast cereal and Frodo toothpaste and other assorted products.
Then, after the movie came out, I saw that some of this "stuff" wasn't so bad and I actually went out and purchased some items on e-bay and in the local shops.
I guess I'm not the only one who did this. I just noticed two other threads where people mentioned having balances on their credit cards or being broke since they had gone a little crazy.
OK, it's time to be honest now. Let us know what, if anything, you purchased related to LotR.....books, toys, jewelry, game cards, statues, whatever.
Did you find something that you particuarly liked? Conversely, was there something crazy you bought that you wish you'd never set your eyes on?
Tomorrow, I'll slip in my own answer to this question, but just wanted to get it up on the site this evening.

Only every Tolkien book, except HoME. Oh and The FotR soundtrack.
There's a lot that I would love to but don't have the money for.

My husband bought me lots of stuff which is very like him to encourage me in my passions despite the fact they are not his passions.
I have a blank note book/diary with Arwen's picture on it. He also got me the entire collection of bookmarks with the one ring attached, as well as the Sil, The Tlokien Reader,, the Official Movie Guide, and a Tolkien Art Book I've had my eye on for 3 years.
Oh yeah, and the collection of BurgerKing action Figures.
Yes, I know, I'm gonna have to stop that man...
Just remembered some more... The Hobbit, LoTR and RotK on DVD, The National Geographic Tolkien special, on DVD, and the Soundtrack CD.

I don't like all that stuff, I only downloaded the soundtrack, I'm a true lover of all kinds of music, so I couldn't miss that! smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/wink.gif smilies/cool.gif
I don't count the books or tickets by stuff, stuff are gadsgets like action figures or a remake of the ring or so.

Well i've never bought LotR stuff for myself. Last christmas i gave my two tolkien loving sisters two tickets to see the movie. My sister (one of the two) bought LotR in london last summer (when it was still semi-cheap)but thats about it. And i gave the other (sister that is) Unfinished Tales for her birthday. My lack of funding prevents me from going crazy. (but i am definately there for the game cube's The Hobbit smilies/biggrin.gif )

Seeing the movie three times (I'm usually an "eh-I'll-catch-it-on-cable" type of gal)was a big splurge for me. Also planning to buy the DVDs as they come out, since - unlike books - I generally do not collect videos or DVDs.
Other than that, nothing from the movie marketing has grabbed me at all. I'm too old to hang a poster of Elijah Woods on my wall, and those BK glasses were just tacky!
I might have bought the Two Towers PC game when it comes out, but I found out it only features Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli hacking orcs. Not my cup of tea.

To tell you the truth, I never bought any mechandise realting to LotR, except, of course, the books, along with The Hobbit. I think that has been the closest Iv come to buying anything LotR related, except, two LotR bookmarks, which I got from my school library, and the LotR soundtrack, which I didn't buy at all, someone gave to me.

::enters quietly and takes a seat in the back of the LOTR Memorabilia Anonymous meeting . . . stands up, knees slightly shaky when called on and says . . . Hello, my name is Piosenniel and I am an LOTRMemaholic . . .::
Before the movie came out, I was wandering about Barnes and Noble Bookstore and happened on their FOTR display. It drew me in like a sideshow barker and I was hooked! Bought all the bookmarks with the rings attached, 2 books on the making of the movie with plenty of 8X10 glossies, a set of the movie-cover paperbacks which I promptly sat down and reread, and the first four books of HoME, which I had no idea had been written.
I was like a kid in a candy store once the movie actually arrived - I discovered Ebay and the power of a Master Card with a large limit. (Picture gollum here and his obsession with the Ring). Now in my possesion from there are a signed pic of Boromir regarding the Ring, an original signing by Sean Bean on the cover of an FOTR script, the trade ad from Variety promoting the movie for consideration for academy awards and featuring the kiss of Aragorn to Boromir scene, and, oh yes, a very nice china cup from England featuring Boromir. (Yes, I confess I like the character of Boromir and Sean Bean.)
My most recent find was quite by accident as I was window shopping at a small curio shop. I had looked at a number of pewter miniatures of the characters, but was not really drawn to them, when I happened to glance at the fantasy display of miniature dragons. It was a miniature of a scene which sparked my memory - a fell rider with an unadorned crown rode on the back of a great winged beast, which was perched in triumph on the body of a fallen rider and his horse. Facing him were two brave souls - one a small barefooted fellow brandishing a small blade and the other a woman in a warrior's garb, her blade drawn. On the small field in front of the beasts foot was a small shield with a horse head on it. It's now sitting right here by my computer.
Now, that is all I'm going to confess to for the moment. Suffice it to say I have a very lucrative job and the kid is out of the house!!

Where should I start...
~I bought the Arwen necklace (this is my precious!)
~Frodo, Gandalf, Merry & Pippin action figures
~Arwen, Saruman, Orc, Pippin, & Gimli BK figures
~Frodo journal
~Frodo, Aragorn, Arwen, & Gandalf bookmarks
~Middle Earth poster (from long before the movie)
~BAFTA add featuring Frodo & Sam
*takes a breath*
~books - LOTR, TTT, ROTK, the Hobbit, the Sil, book of artwork, Tolkien bio, The Hobbit Companion
~FOTR movie poster (this I actually got for free
~artwork - "A Memory of Lothlorien", "The Final Battle," "The Silmarillion (collection of 6 posters)"
I am sure I am forgetting something...
I am still planning on getting the Elven brooch (if it doesn't sell out) and the Galadriel bust due out this fall...
Whew, that's enough I think!

Hey, how did you get a free movie poster, Tigerlilly?! smilies/mad.gif I want one!!! smilies/rolleyes.gif Also, if I had ANY $$, I would also buy an Elvin brooch, but sadly, I'm broke (I think). smilies/frown.gif

I got my poster from my school. When I returned to school in January there were LOTR posters all over the cafe, so I was like, "what are these doing here?" It turned out that General Mills was having a promotion... if you bought 3 little cereals (about $1 each) then you get a poster. So it wasn't exactly "free", but close enough.

Tigerlilly and Pio --
I thought I was bad. You guys are worse than I am.
Yes, I too discovered e-bay. Pio, were you the one scamming me at the last minute on all those things?
Most of this stuff came as presents for Hanukah, my birthday, and Mother's Day. I dropped broad hints to family and friends. Some of this is not directly related to the movie, but I found a whole lot of general Tolkien things came flooding out after the film release.
All 6 secret boxes in ceramic from department 56 which, when put together, form a ring (my husband's birthday present--I love it!)
My main book addition was to complete all 12 volumes of HoMe, 10 in hardback and 2 in trade paper. My proudest moment was walking into a secondhand bookstore and finding a first edition of The Lost Road for $10 at the same time it was selling on e-bay for over $100.
Also, I got the mines of moria poster--the one where Gandalf and Frodo are talking about not being able to choose the times you live in but only to decide how you will respond (my motto--you're never too old for posters).
The Oscar ad with Sam and Frodo hugging and crying (sniff!).
Reproductions of two Alan Lee prints to hang above my desk--Luthien and Galadriel.
CDs of the movie soundtrack and the Tolkien
Ensemble and David Arkenstone (OK, so I went crazy--I love music).
A couple of Tolkien movie postcards. This is actually an ongoing thing I've done for years.
Oh, yes, and then there's the stuff I bought for my daughter who loves Tolkien and begged for these things for Hanukah and report card rewards and now her birthday.....
pictures of the movie Sam and Frodo for her bedroom
several packs of game cards -- she doesn't play but she collects.
an Arwen/Frodo toy (Mom would have preferred something different, but what can you do?)
her own Hobbit book (the one illustrated by Lee)
That's about it. Oh, no. I remember. I just bought the art book from the movie for myself. It is beautiful-- many sketches by Lee and Howe. This volume shows all the concept sketches for costumes, buildings, etc. Lots of pictures that aren't in the movie, e.g., complete plan of Bag End
Now, I am broke, and shouldn't buy anything. Er, when I went with my son to the comic book/gaming store, I saw these little pewter figures of the 4 hobbits and Gandalf......gee, I really would like those......

Raefindel - I thought the new pic appropriate for this discussion - It's called 'The Magpie Fairy' and shows a gypsyish looking girl with wild flowing hair and all sorts of little treasures she's collected adorning herself in a hodgepodge of 'jewelry'. & yes, if you're ever down this way, let me know - we can meet somewhere!
Child, Tigerlilly - It would be quite fun for all of us to attend a LOTRCON (heaven forbid they should ever start these up!), the sheer number of available collectibles, books, treasures would set us drooling!!! smilies/wink.gif

Pio, Tigerlilly--
If I ever went to a convention like that, I'd have to give my credit cards to one of you to hold so I would not go crazy.
I have always been a collector. I have collected LOTR postcards, books, and even posters for a good number of years. Also some King Arthur stuff and dragons.
My favorite poster is actually framed and hanging in my "formal" living room. (Down south we still have such things.) It's the one Tolkien drew of Taniquetil with Manwe's house on top that was put out by the Bodleian Library in the 70s. Every time I get upset, I look at it and it calms me down!
Oh, yes, I carefully saved my coffee money all week and went out this afternoon and bought one small pewter Frodo. If I'm good and don't spend any money, I figure I can get Sam next week.
HeHe.

I have three unrelated collections at war in my bedroom at the moment.
First and most complete is my Bob Dylan Collection - discs, albums, posters, ticket stubs, biographies, discographies, etc., etc. When I was young I was going to grow up to be a troubador just like him!
Next one vying for attention is my X-Files collection - books, all the epis on tape, the first 5 seasons on disc, the 'I Want To Believe' poster, the collectible cards, and official mug from the Walter's Wenches in Waiting group, etc, etc.
My Tolkien collection is in the fledgling stage, so really there is much expansion that can be done with it!!!

Well, they may not have LOTRCONs around me, but you can find treasures at comic and sci-fi conventions. I recently went to one & that's where I got all of my new artwork. They also had armory stands, fantasy stands, and you could even get a copy of the movie if you wanted to. If there is a big convention near you check it out!

~CD's - movie soundtrack, Music Inspired by Middle Earth, Lord of the Rings cartoon (I do not recommend this, I bought it before I actually saw the cartoon)

I also would have another book (I think it's the movie guide) but when my mom showed it to me in Seattle I said I'd wait till we got home! Stupid stupid stupid! I haven't gone to a bookstore since and I really must!! I'm not into all the merchandising stuff. If it's worth it, I'll buy it. If it's not... I'll buy it later. I have to say that I'm not a collector. Except for books. It's always been my dream that someday I would have all my favorite authors in beautiful, hardbound editions, and am finally able to make that dream a reality. (Trouble is, I still have a problem with tossing the old, dog-eared, torn up paperback copies once I've replaced them. Anyone want a paperback copy of "A Winter's Tale" with the cover torn off?)
But then Tigerlily has to go and mention that there is a LoTR tarot deck! Bad Tigerlily. I love the art of the Tarot. (By the way, can anyone see my tarot avatar?)
I looked up some of the cards online, and they are beautiful. Now for true tarot readings, I'd always go for the traditional Rider-Waite, but I'd really love to see the complete LoTR deck.
BTW Tigerlily - Who is on "The Fool" card? It's my favorite Major Arcana, and I couldn't find a pix of it online.

Birdland - I'm not sure which LOTR Tarot you are talking about. I have one put out in 1996 with art work by Peter Pracownik. The pictures are gorgeous -- The Fool is Gollum.
OK, guys, sorry to go off-topic: but Gollum as the Fool in Tarot? That is just soooo WRONG! Obviously this Pracownik (and you're right, Pio: They are beautiful) has no concept of what the symbolism of Tarot means.
Here is the definition of the Fool:
"The Tarot Fool is not quite what comes to mind when many people think of the word "fool" or the term "foolish." There are clear connections to the medieval Fool or Court Jester. In modern Tarot, the Fool represents being carefree, impulsive, spontaneous, enthusiastic, and frivolous. The Fool steps out into the unknown without fear or caution. He isn't brave, but he has no fear. He is the universal innocent but he is also wise. He is the rule-breaker, the person who lives without rules. He is very close to his own body and experiences his physical sensations fully."
Now at first I thought maybe the Fool would be represented by Sam. But on second thought, there can only be one Fool in a LoTR Tarot deck - Tom Bombadil!
OK, scratch that LoTR item off my shopping list. I would probably just tick me off. (Birdie sulks.)

Okay, what's in my collection...I have:
Fellowship of the Ring in hardback, with Tolkien's drawing on the jacket; Two Towers in hardback with movie pic and in paperback w/Tolkien drawing; RotK in paperback; Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales; The Tolkien Reader. HoME Vols 1-5 and War of the Ring. I don't have the rest, but I check them out from the library frequently.
I also have the Photo Guide, the two Movie companions, a book of post cards; the planner; a journal with Frodo on cover; a Hobbit journal, a Behind the scenes book.
I have promotional bookmarks; I collect the Merlin stickers (only need 30 more for my book to be complete); the B&N bookmarks with ring of Strider, Frodo and Legolas; Boromir with one ring bookmark. Pinbacks, keychains and magnets of Legolas, Boromir, Aragorn, Gandalf and Arwen. I collect the decipher cards; I have all four BK goblets.
BK figures: Boromir, Legolas, Strider, Celeborn, Elrond, Merry, Bilbo, Sam, Saruman, Cave Troll and Orc.
Toybiz figures: Aragorn, Gimli, Cave Troll, Sam, Gandalf, Boromir/Lurtz, Frodo, Legolas Merry/Pippin/Moria Orc, Newborn Lurtz, Orc Overseer and Saruman.
I have a Kite with Frodo, and a poster with the entire fellowship. I collect the old Middle-earth cards from I.C.E.
I'm a three year charter member of the Decipher LotR Fan Club, so I have the two magazines they've released, and I have 5 lithographs: the Fellowship, the Statue of Elendil (Argonath); Gandalf telling Bilbo to leave ring behind; Saruman using the Palantir; and Gandalf and the Balrog.
I also have the Soundtrack with Aragorn card, and the Tolkien Collection, a 4-disc set of him and his son reading from LotR and the Silmarillion.
I think that's about it....

So, I am new to the whole craze, so I haven't personally baought any LotR things, but...
I hae a friend who works for a local knife store, they specialize in fantasy knives, and it turns out that some company is putting out three swords for each movie. For the Return of the King, he thinks that there will be a rendition of Narsil with the elfstone, and I am already saving money for it.

<font color=gold>I got mine pretty quickly (of course I did pre-order). My guess would be less than two weeks.
May your new necklace bring great happiness. I LOVE mine, it has become my preeecioouusss!!!!!
On another note... this guy came to my work today (well, my show, I should say), and I picked him out of the audience for a bit & I noticed his shirt... It was a really cool FOTR shirt with "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" on the front & on the back was my fav picture (the silouette of the Fellowship) along with the ring poem. If only I knew where he got it.... NO, WAIT! I don't need anymore!

Thanks, Tigerlilly. I can't wait! I've been saving my money for about a month or two at least. Too bad my mom said that the only way for me to have my necklace delivered by that express thing would be if I payed for it myself ($9?! I don't think so).

1 paper back copy of TTT

I really wish I could get my hands on the movie poster with the four hobbits at Weathertop; it's my favorite of all the posters I've seen
You can find that poster on ebay, along with many others.

Creeping into the thread, hood concealing her face, the elf falls on her knees in front of the flashing jukebox playing the 'Music of the Spheres' by Eru. Putting in a farthing, she leans forward and whispers into the speaker/mic:
Bless me Eru, for I have sinned. It's been about three weeks since my last transgression. I logged onto Ebay and bought something - even after I promised I wouldn't. I couldn't resist. It was a watch with a real leather band and its face was surrounded by a one ring replica. The face was a map of Middle-earth, and the '9' was the elven symbol for 9 set in jewels. Sigh!!
'My child, my child', came the melodious voice from the juke - 'Memorize the first 3 chapters of the Silmarillion for your penance. Go now, and sin no more!'
She rose and hurried out, feeling better. A large dark figure stepped from behind a pillar as she hurried to the door, blocking her way. He bent down, smiling, humming slightly out of tune - 'Hey, pio! Didi you see the early John Howe Calendar they just put up for auction? It even has a Buy-It-Now option?'
She shoved her fingers in her ears and hurried past him.

LOL. Have you seen the little Rawcliff pewter figures. Well, unfortunately, I managed to see them too. The local fantasy store had a number of them, and I'm now the proud owner of Frodo and Sam and Gandalf. He has Merry and Pippin waiting on the shelf. Every time I go in the store, they look up at me with beseeching eyes. I don't know how much longer I can resist.
The store also has several of the swords including Gandalf's which cost hundreds of dollars! Fortunately for me, I am not into swords and can easily resist these or I really would be in bad shape!

I have an audio soundtrack of Tolkien reading excerpts from LOTR and an unpublished poem about Galadriel's Mirror. And the movie soundtrack. I have The Atlas of Middle-Earth but Tolkien's books don't count unless you have multiple copies, some for marking passages and making cross references and then one for keeping pure, not even folding over pages as markings.
My son, though, has three sets of the Games Workshop figures. He hasn't finished painting them, though. For some strange reason, he expects me to help him do that. smilies/wink.gif

To answer Child of the 7th Age's post...
I have the LOTR soundtrack. I bought it for my sister for Christmas, and we're both LOTR fans, so we share it. She also has a LOTR calendar, which I also got her for Christmas, and a LOTR poster (the one with Frodo holding the ring, and at the bottom says "One Ring to Rule them All.") I'm very pleased with what I bought. The soundtrack is fantastic. The calendar has pictures of the Fellowship and the characters (even Orcs!) And the poster is great. It's really just made up of movie pictures...but you don't have to search for them online. So, yes, I bought stuff, and I like it.
Oh, yeah, I also got a free LOTR bookmark from the library. It has Arwen on it. She's reading a book. The caption is "Make Reading A Hobbit." So cute. smilies/smile.gif

I'm drawing this thread back up. Now that TTT is almost here, we will probably see many more movie tie-ins hitting the store. Plus, with the holidays coming, this tends to be the time of year that people make their way to the stores and buy, buy, buy.
I've restrained myself so as not to go bankrupt! But my husband has ordered an Elven brooch for me for the holidays, plus a really large globe paperweight that has Gandalf and Frodo at Bag End and the gift set of the DVD. (I haven't seen the extended version yet. I must be the only one left on the Downs who hasn't!)
Anything else good out there that people have bought or seen?

A lot of the knickknacks are adorable but I try to restrain myself since there's not really much to do with them; the Elven brooches and necklaces are lovely, but wearing jewelry (except for the wedding ring) irritates me - I'm always playing with it and poor Arwen's necklace would probably be snapped in half after a few days. We do however have the extra-special super-deluxe to-heck-with-the-groceries-this-week DVD set smilies/smile.gif smilies/smile.gif smilies/smile.gif - as well as a full set of the books including the Hobbit, the Annotated Hobbit, HoME...lots of stuff. As well as an LOTR 2001 outsized calendar which I hang at work.
And to resurrect an earlier topic on the thread very briefly - Gollum as the Fool is REALLY wrong. For me, the perfect place for him would the Moon card, which is much more sinister; he could be crouching on the ground (the tower could be Minas Morgul, formerly Minas Ithil) looking up at the changing moon. I wonder if they had the Witch-King as Death? It wouldn't be quite right either, but it would be hard to resist.

Oh, goodness! I would have so much more money if I had never heard of Lord of the Rings. smilies/smile.gif I bought as many Tolkien books as I could find including the Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, the first five books of the History of Middle Earth series, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the Tolkien Reader, and a Tolkien biography. Also, I got the Aragorn, Legolas, and Frodo bookmarks and the FotR calender. Then of course I had to have the regular FotR DVD and the extended version. And do you know how many kid's meals I ate just so I could get some of the LotR toys at Burger King? The biggest investment I made was joining the LotR fan club. I used to buy the trading cards but the habit got too expensive to keep up. I would actually like to sell them but am too lazy to do so.
I bought the official movie guide and later had to buy the movie companion when I went to a booksigning; only books purchased at that particular bookstore would be signed. ah well, it is 'my precioussssss', with PJ's, Fran's, Phillipa's, and Sean A's autographs in it. theonering.net crew was there and they handed out free LotR t-shirts, so that more than made up for having to buy a book I wouldn't have originally bought. ;-)
I wanted to buy the Evenstar pendant or the leaf brooch, but both are 'too expensive' and I don't have anything to wear them with, anyway. they would just sit somewhere and I would probably end up treating them like Gollum treated the ring, and that wouldn't be good, would it?
since I don't 'let' myself buy that sort of thing, I don't feel bad about spending money on the dvds and books and soundtracks.

Greetings all!
Having been Tolkien affection ado for a few years now, I was surprised that I have never taken an inventory of my treasures! While I did not particularly care for commercial goodies, I have noticed recently that I may have to re-think that position.
Keeping in mind, the best things are usually “stumbled” on, created or produced for another purpose then tweeked to fit.
Here it is!
#1 Bat Fell of Thuringwethil Halloween costume [Articulating wings, glowing eyeballs] very scary! Won a bottle of cheer, big deal, been sober 19 yrs now!

#3 Made my daughter the Nauglamire
#4 Several Elvish style leaf pin broaches [Just won another on ebay, close to the one Tom found at the Barrow Downs! {,vintage ,leaf pin, ebay]
#5 Three Elvish style dresses.
#6 Two cloaks Hers is a [Nymph] mine is Simplicity#9887
#7 Jewels from the shores of Valinor {suncatchers&prisms}
#8 A gift from Yavanna that came to me in a dream song
#9 Stacks of THE BOOKS in various stages of decomposition

#11 Seven Palantir
#12 four swords/daggers

An elf cloaked in grey sidles onto the scene with difficulty due to the large sack she is dragging, looks around and grabs the nearest empty chair of the support group. Figits a little then quietly whispers "Oh no, I think I have it bad, any one know the number of a good shopaholic therapist?" then shrinks back into her chair and starts fiddling with her evenstar necklace. Looking around to check no one has interfiered with her sack of LOTR goodies.

HEY, this thread is still around!
I'm the guilty party who started it.
OK, I will say this--I am buying fewer things now than I did when the movie first came out, but the things I buy tend to be carefully thought out. For example, I've started trying to get certain editions of the book. I looked very hard and found a first edition, first printing of the British Silmarillion and also a Folio society Hobbit for a reasonable price.
Now, if I only got a small inheritance, I could really get the books I want, since some of those crazy things are so expensive! But I don't think that's gonna' happen!

Most of the money I've spent on Tolkien collecting has been for books by or about him. However, I did indulge in one rather childish pleasure - in Germany, there are chocolate eggs for children which contain toys. For FotR and TTT, there were LotR figurines in some of them; you never know what you're getting (there are more dumb, worthless toys than handpainted figurines, of course!), so I ended up buying more of those chocolate eggs than I'd like to admit. The worst part of it is, I don't even like that particular brand of chocolate and had to find ways of using it for baking purposes. smilies/wink.gif
Anyway, between my own buying, friends alerted to my mania, and collector's stands at flea markets, I now have both series complete and proudly on display. They are tiny - about 2 1/2 inches high, done beautifully, with a wealth of detail in the intricate painting - well worth the trouble, in my opinion. I shall have to take a picture to show them off!

I have a tendancy to prefer things that are not mass-marketed. As many times as I've thought of getting the Elven leaf brooch, I would prefer something that is hand-made by a local artist. Helen and I saw one while she was here, but obviously only one of us could buy it, and since Iwas broke and could always come back and find the guy again another time, I'm now telling a story of NOT BUYING something!
Mark 12:30 I believe I just stole your thunder! You're up!

I at least have the luxury, if anyone would believe me, that is, of having a 5 year old LOTR fan for a son. He thinks I buy the stuff for him.
I have the same old dog eared trilogy and The Hobbit I had for years. More recent purchases include, the Simarrilion, Unfinished Tales and the complete HoME books.
I have started the warhammer series for FOTR AND TTT.
I have a subscription for White Dwarf due to the section on LOTR. I also have a subscription for the new Battle of Middle Earth series.
I have several Toybiz characters and more on preorder.
I possess 2 calendars, one wall and one desk for this year.
I have a large wall map of ME (finished in gold foil).
Photo-books of The creatures of Middle earth, the TTT visual companion book and the making of the trilogy photo book.
The ps2 game TTT. The pc game The LOTR.
The one ring on a chain.
The D'Agnostini FOTR sticker book.
The Electronic Middle Earth sword and am hoping when my dad goes to the states to get the Sting sword.
I'll have to stop soon, or rename the house approriately. smilies/rolleyes.gif smilies/redface.gif

Well heres un update on my almost unheathly obsession(if anyone even cares to know.)
It goes like this:
~Books:
Lotr Series (older passed down copies...my precious’), New Lotr Series, The Hobbit x3 ( 1 older version, two newer), The Silmarillion, Book of Lost Tales 1 & 2, Unfinished Tales, The Tolkien Reader and if it counts..Bored of the Rings. Also 2 diff. FotR movie books.
~FotR DVD x2 (Theatrical and Extended)
~FotR and TTT soundtracks
~Posters:
LotR poster thats a drawing, FotR officail movie poster, TTT officail movie poster, Middle Earth map
~Bookmarks:
3(long story...) Frodo bookmarks ,Legolas, Ringwraiths , Gandalf the Grey, Frodo&Sam, Merry&Pippin(my fav) and The One Ring
~Action Figures:
Fotr- Merry, Pippin, Orc, Legolas, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf. TTT- Aragorn, Faramir, Treebeard.
~2003 Tolkien calender(Non-movie) and '03 desk calender.
~LotR t-shirt with the eye of Sauron and ring poem on back (not movie related) and just some FotR and TTT trading cards and even a "Frodo Lives" bumper sticker(lol) and a bunch of Magizines mentioning LotR.
Then I also have a cardboard display that goes ontop of those cardboard bookcases that they have in stores. Also a cardboard stand, the kind that are used to sell the vidoes, with the poster picture on top. And my special FotR cardboard display that about 5' by 28" about 13 inches deep and is a 3D version of the movie poster. All are advertisements not normally for sale, but I asked if I could have them when the store was done with them.. and so after a long wait, I got them. So they're pretty special to me.
(BTW: Just for the record, I'm not just a crazy movie fan, I like the books much more, but I also do really enjoy the movies. Its hard to find anything LotR w/out it relating to the movie....)

I have a lot of LOTR stuff (my room is scary smilies/eek.gif ), but wouldn't it be so friggin weird if you were walking down the street and saw an action figure of yourself? Especially those really poorly made ones? Sorry, I just had to think of the actors.
