Which of these fine blades would you perfer to weild:

1: Glamdring (Foe-Hammer)
2: Orcrist (Goblin-Cleaver)
3: Sting (Bilbo's famous sword)
4: Ringil (Fingolfin's Ice White sword)
5: Aranrúth (Thingol's sword)
6: Anglachel (also known as Gurthang, Túrin's sword)
7: Anguirel (Anglachel's mate held by Eol)
8: Narsil (The sword of Elendil)
9: Andúril (Narsil reforged for Aragorn)
10: Angrist (Curufin's knife that cut a Silmaril from the iron crown)

I'd prefer Orcrist, gotta love that name smilies/biggrin.gif

Note: Actually Narsil, Angrist, and Andúril were acrually made by Telchar the dwarf not an Elf.

P.S. Feel free to mention any others that I forgot to mention.

Gurthang, definitely. Nothing beats a talking sword.

This topic has been moved to the Novices and Newcomers forum, since it primarily asks for opinion, not book discussion.
*Estelyn carefully picks up the swords and carries them over...*

Is it wise to want to carry one of the great Elvish swords?
Most of their owners died unpleasent deaths while waving them about.

Gurthang, when you got loneley you could talk to it.

Maeglin's sword - Anguirel, forged by Eöl. it deserves a less tainted wielder than he.

Glamdring or Ringil, but more Glamdring

Anglachel (Gurthang) is definitely the sword I'd pick, and not just because it talks. It's the sword that not only slew innumerable orcs, but also Glaurung, and will slay Melkor in the last battle. Those are some pretty good credentials.

Ringil. The Ice Sword. It must look SO cool!

Frodo Baggins

Anglachel and/or Sting.

Those are my two favourites!

It would be an honor to weild Andúril, but I would prefer to use a bow and mabey a dagger.

Anguirel. Simply because Eol is the best.

Túroch

None. Nothing compares to a dual edged lightsabre. smilies/evil.gif

I'd agree, if not for the fact that I absolutely love Sting. I am saving up my money- I found a store in Toronto that I'm going to buy a replica of Sting from. I need it. You haven't seen the size of the spiders in my room. Aaah.....

Andúril, Flame of the West

Why, you may ask? Because it was wielded by the bravest Man in Middle-earth - Aragorn!

I want to live in Middle-earth... smilies/biggrin.gif

I already do. I think.

But anyway, I'd demand an Elven Blade of my own. And when I come up with a name for it I'll let you know.

I really can't decide. It would either be
Andúril
Glamdring
Ringil
Or,
Sting

Most likley I would choose one of the first two, simply because Sting would be a short dagger to me! I really prefer a bow and arrow though.

Andúril: it was "irresistible" (or something) in combat, and with it's Elvish sheath, unbreakable.

Not to mention the cool name...I mean, how much better can you get than "Flame of the West"?

Sting: Because I am short and probebly couldn't use the other swords properly. smilies/rolleyes.gif

Definitely Gurthang. And it should look like this:

I'm not sure....
-Gurthang would be nice for a talking sword but what if you want peace and quiet and it just doesn't shut up??
-The name Ice White Sword sounds really cool and it was Fingolfins so that counts for a lot.
-Sting or Angrist would be a handy dagger for back up incase one of my other trusty swords broke at a stupid time like Narsil.

Although i would prefer a Bow and Arrow

Anduril or Narsil-hands down. The sword essentially saved middle-earth, as it cut the ring from sauron's finger, which enabled gollum to kill for it, which led to bilbo finding it, which led to frodo and his eventual destruction of it. It ended the war of the last alliance and the war of the ring. What comes close to that?

Boy, that's a thoughie. I'm all for hand axe and archery but to be fair here is my concensus:
Sting: much too short for my centaurian height.
Gurthang: listen, talking objects get annoying after a while.
Andúril: used too much and I would have to scream its name everytime I slew an orc, harpy, goblin, or barrow-wight.
Ringil: It has a cool name and anything Fingolfin touched is sacred to me.

Oh, I don't know. Probably Ringil - I love the name and the sword in my fan-fiction is similar to Ringil. It's name is Kalasil, the Sword of Bright Light. If I can find someone to forge it for me, I mean cheap too, I am going to have it made.

Aranrúth is one of the coolest sword names in the book though.

Glamdring, do doubt.

Partner of Orcist - it's elven-made and has a buddy! Sword buddies ROCKS!

Plus, Glamdring glimmers white in the face of it's enemy. AND it's never been broken. That's a hard-core weapon.
