I love high-and-mighty parts, of great battle adn alliances.
SCENE 1# Fingolfin crying "O, the lord to whom the birds are most dear, speed now this feathered shaft and recall some help for the noldor in their need" and then going to Maedhros and cutting off his hand... You get the points.
SCENE 2# The part where Eomer sees the black ships. Then he laughed, for the joy of battle was on him and he was young, he was yet unscathed, and he was king - the lord of a fell people.
SCENE 3# the fall of Gil-Galad and any other poetry.
Waht scenes are your favorite?

Actually, all my favorite scene/moments are speeches of some villain, primarily because I'm obssessed with villains
1: Saruman - The Voice of Saruman
"Gibbets and crows!" he hissed, and they shuddered at the hideous change, "Dotard! What is the house of Eorl but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek, and their brats roll on the floor among the dogs? Too long have they escaped the gibbet themselves. But the noose comes, slow in the drawing, tight and hard in the end!"
2: Ugluk - The Uruk-hai
"Then you can wish again!" said the growling voice, "I am Ugluk! I command!
3: Witch-King - The Battle of Pelennor Fields
A cold voice answered: "Come not between the Nazgul and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn! He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked for the Lidless Eye!"

Mine is from the Hobbit:
"Biblo Baggins on a pony! Isn't it delicious!" The wacky elves at Rivendel crack me up everytime.

I always love the scene in the Silmarillion where Beren and Luthien are sort of fighting Curufin and Celegorm. I really like the leap of Beren part.
I suppose I like a lot of scenes in the Beren and Luthien chapter. Also i thing that The chapter of Turin Tursmbar has alot of great scenes. Like where he killed Glaurung and the scene where he accidently kills Beleg.

I like the part, in the book of lost tales II, where Luthien tries to rescue Beren from the evil cat Tevildo. I'm not sure if this quote is right, but as far as I can remember... "Say not so to me, though great lord of cats thou be, for am I not Tinuviel princess of fairies that have come out of my way to do thee a pleasure?" Now Tinuviel spoke that last sentence louder than ever, and a great crash was hard in the kitchen. "There trippth the fool Beren the Elf, Melko rid me of such folk," snarled Tevildo. Tinuviel, knowing that Beren had heard her and had been smitten with astonishment, said no more and did not regret her daring.
No offence, Gil-Galad, but your death makes wonderful song of lamentation smilies/biggrin.gif

oh, well, um, Fingolfin's death immediately springs to mind and i love the quote:
"and he drew his swrod, Ringil which glittered like ice."
And of course there's Fingolfin mrching into Middle earth. I believe that quote is someones signature and i also love that flowers sprang up benetah their feet as they marched.
And i do also love Tevildo, Prince of Cats. It's just such a cool name. I loved the whole cat idea, actually. i consider being called Tevildo Prince of Cats at any msg board i join, but i never do because i'm scared they'd think i was a boy smilies/rolleyes.gif

Eorl, dear, you're talking about Fingon in your first post, not Fingolfin. Fingon was the one who valiantly trooped into Angband, while Fingolfin was lounging about on cushions back at his camp. Not that I have anything against lounging about on cushions! smilies/biggrin.gif
