Before the ruin, Gondolin. Although, come to think of it, perhaps the Isle of Balar would have been the safest place to be <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

Assuming Numenor isn't an option, after the ruin of Beleriand, I would have liked to have lived in Rohan.

Re: If you could live in ME, where would it be

pre-ruin: ARGH, I need my copy of the Tolkien Encyclopedia back. Need...quick...reference!! Anyway, I forget the name, but it was some port towards the south (?) of Belarind? Cridan? Cirdan? Cidrian??
ugh, I'm lost. Perhaps it's time for some re-reading. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/ intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

anyway, THERE, wherever there was, as it was just about the only place Morgoth didn't eventually conquer, if memory serves (which it didn't ten seconds ago, obviously) .<img src=http://www.ezboard. com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

after the sinking: Rivendell! Come on, the whole place is virtually one giant Elvish party! How can you go wrong?<img src= laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

pfff, idunno. The Shire maybe, or the grey havens, and if possible< br>
Ithilien( as said in one of my first posts, but I assume noone

remembers<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile. gif ALT=":)"> ). Or maybe just travel all over
ME (and maybe Aman)
and visit every town there is except for
'black towns', like
Morgul or Gundabad or sth. like those.

Re: If you could live in ME, where would it be

hehe, that is Scott &quot;Wino&quot; Weinrich. Born in 1960,< br> he made a name for himself with Saint Vitus in the '80s. But he left that band to reform his original early '80s group, The Obsessed. Taking the positions of guitarist, vocalist, lyricist< br> and songwriter, he fulfilled each role to perfection. Unfortunately , largely due to frustrations caused by incompetent labels, The Obsessed split not too long after their third (and argueably, best) album, '95s The Church Within< /i>Not to be kept down for long, Wino put together a new band, dubbed Shine, and by '97 had a 7&quot; out. But Shine kind of dragged, until Wino changed the band's name to Spirit Caravan and released a new LP and also an EP in '99. In my humble opinion, these include his best material
to date. Spirit Caravan have spent most of 2000 on the road, but a new LP is expected in early 2001.

*whew* My favorite musician. Anyway, his style is sort of a more laid back Black Sabbath. The man is an icon in the underground, and deserves nothing but praise.

Re: Where to live

As if I could choose...but here are a few places that I sure would have loved to tarry in for a while...

Beleriand - Lindon (My Elrond was born here! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ wink.gif ALT=";)"> ), Gondolin, Nargothrond< br>
After drowning - Rivendell (My Elrond is Master here! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/ intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> ), Dol Amroth, Mithlond

Then Aragorn took the green stone and held it up, and there came a green fire from his hand."</p>

Re: Where would you live?

Either in the Shire or in the Old Forest.

But other options would be Lorien and Ithilien.

I would not mind having a large house over looking the Anduin eiter, well aren't there plenty of lovely places described in the book....

Where would I live?

Before the ruin of Beleriand... hmmmmm, Himring sounds rather appealing, living with Maedhros and his soldiers, all the excitement of battle and what not. After the ruin of Beleriand, no contest, over the Lhun with the remnants of the high elves. Are we seeing I want to live with elves?

Re: Where would I live?

Oh yea, I can't forget Rivendell, that sounds kinda nice. Maybe Lothlorien too, spend some time with Galadriel and Celeborn, see how things are going there. I should like to stay with Cirdan for a time too, and then I could leave ME with no hassle (being an elf and all, all you humans can't pass).

where I would live

Sometimes, when I escape from this crazy world with my mind, I usually see the same image: me laying on the ground, in the middle of the sea of green grass that are the prairies of Rohan, watching the clouds above passing by with the soft wind.

But there are also so many places where I would live if I could, for a while, or even forever, in Middle Earth: the quite places in the Shire, the parties and merry time in Rivendell, great Minas Tirith and the White Mountains, ... and oh! Lothlorien, paradise.

Come back to Earth, Lorien, ...

this is my order: Lothlorien/ Rivendell, safe parts of Mirkwood, Rohan, Buckland

Before the fall, Balar, very safe, or Gondolin. (Is Valinor an option? smilies/smile.gif )

After, this may sound wierd, but I'd assemble a team of interior designers to redecorate and remodel the tower of Ciroth Ungol. After flooding out the cave, of course. Lava flows are very scenic.

I would love to live in the Shire. The trees, animals, grass, and simple life really appeal to me. I would like to live amoung the hobbits I think. Their attitude on life is amazing. Just to enjoy it and live for the simple pleasures. Also Rohan and its grassy plains and horses seems like somewhere full of adventure. I would ride horseback all the time and become an expert sword fighter! But the Shire is my first choice..

I would say Mirkwood since I am so fond of trees. Lothlorien would also be a good choice for me as well.

If i lived in Middle Earth i would probably want to live in Rivendell with the elves. For a couple reasons. One, i know i am somewhat away from the danger in Mordor. Two, i know i have protection of the elves and they can heal me. Three, i would want to see how the elves lived and they would teach me their skills so i can hunt some orc lol.

Before the ruin of Beleriand, definitely Gondolin! I love the stories about Gondolin the best in the Sil, wish Tolkien had written more of them.

After, I would pick Rivendell. Rivendell is my favorite Middle-earth place. But the Grey Havens would probably be nice, too, so close to the sea. I wish we knew more about that place, too. smilies/smile.gif

I think i need to read the Silmarillion, so far it sounds like it is a very good book. Then again, what Tolkien book isnt good? (talking about his ME related ones. Dont know a clue about the others) lol.

Pre-ruin: I'd have to go with the early days of Khazad-dum. Hard workin', hard drinkin' days, belting out great songs in a deep baratone loud enough to shake the very rocks! Making weapons, armor and jewelery both beautiful and wicked. Ah! Now that's the life!

Post-ruin: After all those years indoors, it's time to get some fresh air. I'd build a house right next door to Tom Bombadil (I wouldn't want to cramp his style.

I think out of all the places before the ruin and after I would have to go with the Shire. I could really get used to living there.
Everything is so green and beautiful there. Though it would have been cool to live in some of those early Elvish locals like Menegroth and Tirion.
