Why did you choose your nicknames as they are?

Personally I chose gamegie as the French spelling for my favorite little hobbit SAM.

What about you?

Re: What is the reason for your nickname ?

I needed a Tolkien related name for Barliman's at theonering.net. I knew almost imediately that it would be one of Bilbo's nicknames from The Hobbit. First I was looking at the names he gave to Smaug, but on a whim I flipped back through the book and came across 'burrahobbit' and I've used it ever since for anything Tolkien related.

There is a similar topic in The Barrow-downs called "Where'd you get that nick?"

What's a burrahobbit got to do with my pocket, anyways?
Edited by: burrahobbit at: 11/4/00 9:13:34 am

Well... I chose Eldarion because: no man knows or what kind of person he was except for that Aragorn was giving the rule to him w/o any doubt. But the main point was that no one I knew used that nickname.

I chose this nickname just because I love the name and character Feanor. Not much more than that can be said. Also, like Eldarion, I chose this because no one else had taken it (probably because there's such little respect for Feanor).

Re: The red!

Some reasons why I took this alias I have:
- it's orcish, and I like orcs
- it means "Old Man", and age is something I respect greatly
- "Old Man" is somehow ironic for my person
- "Old Man" has an air of wisdom, and still decrepitude, infirmity, so to say
- it sounds nicely grim
- it refers to Saruman, one of the most interesting characters, and also a rebel
- it is a clear Tolkien reference, but not as obvious as others

Put "in nuce", it is a nóme de guerre, a war-mask like a dwarf's; not a shiny-happy one. Not that I feel like at war here, but when I put on a mask it needn't be one which smiles and covers a face which is also smiling.
Besides, it might be taken as politically questionable if I followed red's example and called myself "brown"....

Be still, O wand'rer! / Dost thou not hear the sad song of night? / How the wind does beckon thee to rest for a while / and to lend him thine ear? / What woeful tale does it tell tonight? / What tragedy of old?

Well I chose this because I like Rosie Cotton even though she has a very small part. But the nick I use most as_eowyn I chose because Eowyn is my favorite woman in the books. I guess that's because I can relate to her she's stuck at home with the weak and the old and so am I.

I was looking for a nick that had something to do with stars. When I looked it up, I found Elendil. I really like it because it had two meanings: "Lover of stars" and "Elf-friend". Both meanings were appropriate, so it was an easy choice.

I choose Lorien as a nickname because I love Lothlorien and elves, and also because of its meaning: I dream very often, even when I am awake...

On the other hand, I wouldn´t like to take a character´s name as a nickname.A personal mania. So I choose Lorien de Loth. There are Loriens and Lothloriens, but until now I have never met another Lorien de Loth.

Voronwe has a fairly obscure part in the Silmarillion, being mentioned but once or twice. However, he does play a much more important role in Unfinished Tales. I'm a great UT fan, hence the choice of nick. Also, the idea of being a mariner kinda strikes a chord with me for some reason.

Re: the nickname

I was looking at some black speech words.

Nazg means ring and 'goth' means lord. As in Morgoth. and Nazgul. Gul=Wraith.

I don't know if combining them is right but if Tolkien can do it with Nazgul then I can do it with Nazgoth. Ring Lord.

Re: the nickname

Gilthalion is an elvish name that was my attempt made in ancient times, before many of you were born, to translate my Christian name "Robert."

Robert = "shining fame"

Way back about 20 years ago, there were no internet references handy, nor much else! I chose "thalion" for strong/brave/stalwart and "gil" for star. That was as close as I could come.

"Thaliongil" for Brave/Strong Star didn't sound right.

"Gilthalion" sounded better to my ears, and that was that.

Oddly enough, I am more like a hobbit than an elf, but I still liked the way it sounded, so when I discovered these Tolkien Discussion Boards, I started using the name anyway!

I've allways had a thing for dwarves and their crafts, proberly because my own hands can do nothing of much practical use. Dwarves are truehearted and sturdy folk, and Telchar was I deem the most reputated smith of the all. I allways (from I was little) had the thourght that Anduril was "just" a broken sword repaired by elves of Imladris. In my mind much inferior to the original Narsil made by Telchar

My surname is Dagelur

Hello Dear Fellows!

I am a newcomer here and I am happy to see such fair folk in the virtual (but real) Middle Earth.

After beginning to read the LotR, i felt the need to choose a nickname...but not to take any name already existing in the story. I wanted to choose my own nickname, sounding "Middle-Earth"...and I chose DAGELUR, which is a partial anagram of my name and my Girlfriend's name in French.
This nickname was not chosen at random, for each set of 3 letters makes up another word or the beginning of an other word.

Then, in DAGELUR you can see:

DAG for DAGGER
AGE for AGE!
ELU (=ELECTED in French)
LUR for LURKING! (That's just for fun, I don't wish to embody any evil creature!)

I wish you all a good journey across Middle Earth and hope to meet you on, or outside the East Road.

Your Dagelur

Amyrlis (pronounced ah-meer-lis, with accent on meer) Dornathan. I made it up by adding some letters to my first & middle names. I kind of wish that I would have picked something with true Tolkien meaning. All of yours are great! I've also been toying with changing it to the name of the Vanyar elf who Finrod loved yet left behind in Aman - I just noticed her name in the Sil - Amarie. Re: Whats in a name?

My name comes from an old Rebetika song, probably brought to Greece by refugees from Asia Minor. Nothing to do with LOTR, but its one of my favourite songs and I thought the name sounded LOTRish.
Incidentally, Coprophage7, do you know what YOUR name means in Greek?

I chose Halbarad "dour handed Ranger of the North" because he was (from what I can tell) the lieutenant of Aragorn, which means he must have been held in high regard by Aragorn. He died protecting the standard of the high king and thus deserves to be remembered.

The reason for my nickname?......I think that it was just some obscure reference or combination of obscure references
that came to me about 3-4 years ago. There is also a Middle Earth reference to it. Commodore is a naval rank, and
the one Middle Earth culture that is best known for their
navy....Just check the last part of my sig. (Although they're more like a pirate fleet).

New to the Barrow Downs

Hello all. Relatively new to the on-line Tolkien crowd. Chose Maglor because of all of the open-ended character lines in Tolkien's works, I find Maglor's to be the saddest and most intriguing.

When thinking about who is the greatest elven resident of Middle Earth, it is natural to drift to Galadriel, Cirdan and especially Elrond. But remember that Maglor, alone of Feanor's children, still wanders the lands in forlorn exile. In theory, with the passing of Galadriel to Aman, he would likely be Middle Earth's mightiest resident.

My nickname is just my all-purpose computer and internet nickname (if you see a kayqy around, it's probably me! ) I got it while randomly typing keys and then adjusting until I liked it, back in middle school. Kay happens to be part of my middle name, and Qy (rhymes with sky), well, I like the letter Q. I also like it's uniqueness. I thought about a LotR nickname (like maybe Estel), but I'd rather be consistent.

I play Nori in an AOL RPG thingie (AOL is very evil, if you did not know), and NoriDwarf was taken as a screen name. So the next thing that popped into my head was "NoriBeard". He's been a great character to play as, especially because Tolkien gave little to no information about him, and I was free to develop him into whatever I wanted.

Re: What is the reason for your nickname ?

Well, I'm new here, and my nickname isn't Tolkien orientated, but I love it just the same.
For my GCSE English coursework, I wrote a story, well, actually a short novel (Never been very good at keeping to word limits!). Anyway, it was a fantasy story, where the herorine was based on myself. Hey, I can dream! When I joined my first Tolkien message board, I didn't want to take a Tolkien name, as most of them seemed to have been used, so I used Anriel. My first few hundred posts were in a role play i started, and the name still reminds me of all the friends I made through that and the good time we had.
In my story, Anriel meant "Child of the Stars", and her/my surname, Mendereth, meant Guardian.

Nick Names

I looked at the possible names that applied to me for hobbit and elven names. My hobbit name came up as Robbin Banks of Woody End. That was cute, but I tried the elven names and they came up like Eventheltheith, or something to that effect. So I merged 2 and came up with Evenspire. It means nothing whatsoever in elvish, but I brake it into Ev-enspire

He planted himself squarely in front of Faramir, his hands on his hips, and a look on his face as if he was addressing a young hobbit who had offered him what he called 'sauce' when questioned about visits to the orchard.

I know it's not very Tolkienish...but I have this name on 7 other ezboards...and I didn't want to make up a new one for here.

But the last time I tried to make up all sorts of different names for different places...I forgot which names went to which boards...it was just confusing. So I like to stick to one name for everything.

My nic isnt very tolkienish either, but its a God's Avatars name in another fantasy world. I fell in love with the charactor and it seems to fit me somehow. Plus I knew nobody else would pic it!

Actually, this one is to Durelen. I was reading this one from the start, before I realized it was so old.

I am no expert in Quenya, but with a little help from the Quenya dictionary (made by the Grey Company, and downloadable at Tel'Mithrim - Language Resources (http://www.grey-company.org/Language/)
I translated 'Durelen' as 'Believer of Stars' or 'Faith in Stars'. Possibly also 'Believe what You See', or 'Seeing is Believing'. Something like that.

BTW, my nickname is from the elven name generator here at the downs. It doesn't have any coherent meaning, as far as I know.

Oooh. An interesting thread-revived apparently.
The origins of "Lush" are both sordid and silly, so let me just say that I have been using it as a pen-name for a few years (my writing style is lush-in the different sense of the word), and thought it would be appropriate here. For the record, my name does not neccessarily imply that I am a heavy drinker-but since I am a Russian, I inspire more vodka jokes than I would like to admit (the drink of choice in Russia is actually beer-and excellent beer it is, for those of your who are tourists). smilies/wink.gif

I got mine by combining parts of 2 names from the books.

Eowyn is more like me than either Arwen or Galadriel...other than her blonde hair, of course-that's why I chose this name
oh and Ithilien instead of Rohan because in Rohan she was unhappy

Sindalómiel
01-09-2002, 03:49 AM
Sindalómiel is my name (Erin), according to this site's Elf name generator. I know technically you're supposed to use your full name, but Sindalómiel was prettier so I chose that.

Gayahithwen
01-09-2002, 12:56 PM
I just put my name in the generator and got this.. it's fun.. I got a whole bunch of others as well, trying with all my middlenames, and such, but Gayahithwen is just my first and my last name(?).. So I usually uses it as my elven name.. Otherwise, when not being on any Tolkien related page, my screen name is claro, because it's a wordplay with my name, and yes, I know a little bit of spanish ^_~

Dwarin Thunderhammer
01-09-2002, 04:51 PM
I have long been a Dwarf advocate. Mostly because I identify with the species as a whole. So "Dwarin" is fairly original I thought it up myself. "Thunderhammer" came partly from the generators.

Vitesse
01-14-2002, 09:59 AM
Vitesse means speed in French, but it's also the name of one of my favorite cars - the Triumph Vitesse, which was basically a little Triumph Herald economy car with a six-cylinder engine shoehorned in. Anyway I used to really like it, around the time I started posting on message boards. I still do, but nowadays I'm mostly taken to Italian machinery - I own a Fiat 128 and until recently, an immaculate Fiat 131 Mirafiori TC sedan (sold it less than two weeks ago). Those cars are virtually extinct in the USA and getting pretty rare in most other places too - thanks to typical Italian rust and quality issues and not being sports cars.

If there were such a thing, I'd be the all-knowing treebeard of old obscure cars.

But that's how I came to the name Vitesse.

Hama
01-14-2002, 11:50 AM
Hama features in my favourite chapter: the turning point of the book as far as I'm concerned, where the wiles of Saruman and Wormtongue are defeated by Gandalf, Theoden is awakened and Rohan is roused for battle. Also for the excellent converstaion between Gandalf, Aragorn and Hama where they just quote proverbs at each other continuously:

A staff may be more than a prop for a wizard, but in times of doubt a man of honour trusts to his own judgement.

and so on. Hama's a bit of a dunce as a bouncer, but he has his heart in the right place.

Estelyn Telcontar
01-15-2002, 04:01 PM
Here's my reason for the nickname - I didn't want to take over a person's name from the book - I'd rather be a first-rate me than a second-class somebody else. I feel very human, so that means no elf, dwarf or hobbit name. The last name came first - I'm a walker and the Elvish translation of Strider seems elegant without being highflying. When I read the story of Arwen and Aragorn in the appendix, I found his Elvish name "Estel", which means hope - that appealed to me and only needed some feminizing to be perfect. Wow - that was almost as serious and complicated as choosing names for my kids!! Anyway, here I am!

Elvenglass
01-16-2002, 06:12 PM
My nickname comes from this passage "A ship then new they built for him, of mithril and of elven-glass and shining prow no shaven oar nor sail she boar on silver mast, the simiril as lantern light and banner bright with living flame to gleam thereon by Elbereth herself was set, who hither came, and wings immortal made for him, and laid on him undying doom, to sail the shoreless skies and come behind the sun and light of moon." This is a song of Bilbo's from the fellowship of the Ring. I liked the word Elvenglass so I chose it! smilies/smile.gif

Ghâshgûl
01-18-2002, 05:42 PM
My nickname is simply the Black Speech version of Feanor ( "fire spirit" ). I think if Feanor would have changed the side, he would have been an excellent servant of Melkor, as he was full of passion and hate. Perhaps he would have translated his name into Black Speech. Of course this is just hypotetical.

I have choosen a Black Speech name not because I am feeling eeeeeeeevil, but because I am currently thinking about how the Ring War was from the viewpoint of the "bad guys".

Ghâshgûl

dernhelm
01-18-2002, 05:44 PM
I picked dernhelm which is the name Eowyn used when she disguised herself as a man and a Rider of Rohan. I chose it because there are not many girl names to pick from, and I wanted a nickname no one else had but that still was associated with a female character.

Hobbit - Hildifons Underhill from the Far Downs (Too long!)

Dwarf - Parin Rockbringer (Not too bad)

Elf - Maltagaerion (Obviously the one I chose smilies/smile.gif)

Fenrir
01-19-2002, 04:47 PM
I was feeling very unoriginal so I picked Fenrir, the name of Loki's wolf son in Norse myth.
I picked it because:
a)It starts with the same letter as my name in real life.
b)I like the sound of Norse names and have a slight interest in mythology.
c)I feel sorry for, and occasionally admire, the bad guys in stories.
d)Fenrir is the slayer of Odin, even if he does get torn apart by Vidar afterwards he's still one hell of a wolf.

Nuinrog was a general of Morgoth in the 4th age when he was released from Mandos. He was the ruler of Duloth-Arvanthand, which was Melkor's fortress upon Middle-earth, as his main one was on Valinor in the north, where he waged war with the Valar until Turin Turambar slew him(Melkor). Nuinrog was a fallen Vala and Master of Shadows. I am not sure who Nuinrog slew and was slain by, but I know he was killed.

Tilion
02-04-2002, 03:38 AM
Well, my first post here so might as well post the meaning of my name.

My name is fairly obvious to those who have read the Silmarillion. Tilion is the one who guides the moon in its journey through the heavens. However, he sometimes draws off course because he is so drawn to the sun and its guide - sometimes the shadow of the moon will even block out the sun because he draws too near.

I liked the sound of the name and the character behind it - he carries a wondrous bow of silver and fought off the dark hosts of Morgoth when he assailed the moon and its light when it appeared.

Callaedriel
02-04-2002, 06:38 PM
I wanted to create a new name for my yahoo ID. I came up with my name from the elf name generator, sort of. I didnt like the name the generator came up with my real name, so i mixed up names of my friends. and came with a name close to this one, but i didnt like the way it was pronounced, so i played a bit.
Now i just realized that i spelled my nickname wrong. It s supposed to be Callaedriel. smilies/frown.gif

ArwenBaggins

i dont really no why i chose ArwenBaggins. My brother decided on that name, but i wanted Morrambaiel, which means Dark River,in Elvish. We put the names in a cup and i (unluckily) drew ArwenBaggins. BUT FROM NOW ON, CALL ME MORRAMBAIEL (MORR) WHEN U EMAIL OR PRIVATE MESSAGE ME!!!!

(I also have roleplaying- characters named Narya.)

Pips
02-08-2002, 03:05 PM
Pips, isn't it clear where I got that one. Pips is short for Pippin, who is my second favorite character, Frodo being my first, but it was kinda hard for me to think up some name for me to do with Frodo, since I'm female. But Pips seemed to work.

Aralaithiel
02-08-2002, 04:05 PM
I typed my full name into the Elven name generator, and it gave me "Aralaithiel". It is also the name of my main character in my fan fiction. She is the "other" daughter of Elrond. In my story, she is fond of music & horses. She is the grandaughter of Gil-Galad, and will ascend to the throne of the High Queen of the Noldor, only she will unite the Teleri, Nandoran, and Sindarin/Silvan elves into one realm. She will then change her name to Lintelonniel, which means "Queen of Horse & Harp" in Elvish, and she will wed Legolas, whom she met when he came to Lothlorien with the fellowship. Look for the first installment coming soon to the fan fiction section of the Barrow Downs.

Elathelas is my 'elvish' name, or what the elves would call me if they saw me. Anyone who knows elvish can translate that.

HINT: the El- 'star' is as far as I got in transdlation, but I've got a pretty good idea of what the words 'athelas' means anyway. smilies/biggrin.gif

Aralaithiel . . . it's funny that you have a story like that (not the story itself . . . but anyway) because there is a Collaborative Writing story over at Tolkien Movies that has a very similar charcter. Another daughter of Elrond.

My nick name comes form... I don't know where! As I probably explained in one of the other forums I am a part time fantasy writer which means that I am always looking for new "words" and "names". However, I might have read it somewhere ages ago and it came back to me recently, so that I thought it was one of my creations. However it came about, I like it. but it was kinda hard for me to think up some name for me to do with Frodo, since I'm female

Actually, "Frodo", in the Hobbit-tongue, is the more feminine name. The letter "a", apperently, was seen as a more masculine ending for names in the Shire. (I found this all out in the translations notes in the appendices. Thank you, Mr. Tolkien!) So, Frodo's real name is "Froda"! And I'd be Roso, wouldn't I? *snicker* That just souinds funny. smilies/biggrin.gif

Pallando
06-28-2002, 01:18 PM
I have a thing for Maiar. One day, I found fanfiction.net and I wanted to review and write pieces on the site, I needed a name, and I stubbled across my copy of "Unfinished Tales". I took a look in the back and saw Pallando. I was curious of who he was so I looked at the pages his name appeared in. He was a Istari, the 4th or 5th, his color was blue, and he and his best friend Alatar traveled to the East with Saruman, but the two didn't return. So, a mysterious character, who's a Maiar AND a Wizard, color blue, and hasn't been heard of? I liked the idea. Anything could have happened to him. My guess is that he was put out of the picture by a spell (possably sleeping) and was buried so no one would find him. Blue's my favorite color and I grew to like the Ithryn Luin, so I picked that name.

Ithaeliel
06-30-2002, 12:14 PM
I am Ithaeliel because I made up that name in a very long fanfiction that I'm writing and I liked it better than "Mirwen" (the other female in the story)which is a bit too simple for me, seeing as everyone else who is an elf on the forum has these big, lavish nicknames smilies/eek.gif. So that's where I got my name. And I didn't even find a translation till a couple of months ago. It means The Laughing Lady of the Far Moon or something of the sort.

*Varda*
07-01-2002, 09:51 AM
Two reasons for my nickname - Varda.

1) The elven name the generator gave me was Vardathangiel. Shorten this and you get Varda.
2) Varda Elentari - One of the Queens of the Valar, Queen of Stars. I love stars. I love Valinor.

End of story.

Remmirath
07-01-2002, 05:15 PM

Feanaro
07-01-2002, 05:30 PM
I think my name is self explanatory. Feanor is my favorite character, and I decided upon the literal version of Feanaro (Spirit of Fire) because it applies well enough to myself. In brief, I love Feanor's contribution to history: the crafting of the Silmarils, which set up the rebellion of the Noldor and the major wars of the first age, as well as the Feanorian script. He is named the greatest of the Noldor in the Silmarillion. He dared to defy the Valar, and was such a gifted speaker that he convinced a vast amount of the Noldor to join him on his war of vengence. Such was his wrath that he fought against a multitude of balrogs until being smitten finally by their lord Gothmog. Although considered an evil character by some, Feanor is undoubtedly my favorite persona in the books. That should well enough explain why I chose this name. smilies/biggrin.gif

Morima
07-02-2002, 03:48 PM
Hi!

My name is actually Morimá, not Morima smilies/smile.gif.

It is Quenya and mean 'Blackhand' (not 'blackhanded' as Treebeard says; that is 'morimaitë'). The Morimá caracter is actually a fair-haired calaquendi, very kind and very protective to her dearest sister Silima, and she's living by the sea outside Alqualondë in Valinor, where she has lived her entire life - which indeed is a considerable amount of time. Morimá loves gardening and botany, trees especially, she has a huge, beautiful garden where she has collected lots of rare trees. As you might have precieved, she is quite a nice and sympathetic caracter too, which most elves usually are smilies/smile.gif.

The reason for her name Morimá comes from a specific event; Morimá is really not her actual name. About the year 3010 (that's some nine years before the fall of Sauron), she went to Middle-Earth to visit the Noldor there; also in some botany-purpose, perhaps she found the mallorn-trees interesting. Anyhows, she didn't get further than Rivendell, after this something unknown-but-terrible happened to her, and she didn't get her memory back until a year later, back in Valinor, where she was told that the Wood Elves of Mirkwood had found her uncounscious in the southern parts of the woods, near Dol Guldur - where she was dressed up in black robes with the red eye painted on - and someone had also cut off her long rich hair... Creepy or what? Well, this is not it.

Back at home in the Blessed Realm, Morimá soon discovered that the mysterious year erased from her memory had left her some horrifying magical powers. When she touced someone with her bare hands, she seemed to inflict serious bad luck on them, in the manner that they (if they were lucky) got something hard in the head the next day, or (usually) got killed during the next week. And indeed, Valar and Maiar were able to see that her hands shone with a faint blue light at the moment she touched someone, and her magic was undoubtedly evil.

After disvocering this, Morimá started to wear thin black gloves, which she never removed with other people present. She stayed more and more by herself, since everybody seemed to fear her, which she of course understood perfectly. Everybody - but her sister Silima, a young and lively elf with unusual ravenblack hair - and there's a lot to say about her as well, mind you, but that's quite another story...

Anyways, that's the origin of the name and further the caracter Morimá. Actually, she came as a result of the Silima-story, which is a 50p-comic I'm doing. (The quotes in my sig is from this comic (called 'The Sick Story'), except the one with Martha smilies/smile.gif)

But luckily things end up good for Morimá in the end - ...But that's the happenings after the storyline of The Sick Story smilies/smile.gif

Phew this was quite a book, really. When I get started with this I just don't stop... smilies/tongue.gif

Lothiriel Silmarien
07-09-2002, 02:26 PM
My name I got from the Encyclopedia of Arda. I wanted an Elvish name, but mostly everything was taken, so I just went through every letter looking at the names, and seeing which names I liked. I found Lothiriel and liked it, then added the Silmarien because I liked that too. Silmarian, I think it's really Tar-Silmarian....I forgot, but she was Numenorean, mostly everyone knows that (and especially if it was TAR-Silmarian) And wasn't Lothiriel the name of Eomer's wife? I don't know....kinda forgot..oh well!

Aosama, the Wandering Star is a character in a book I'm writing. Her name, comes from the words 'aos' and 'ama', literally 'least-loved', in a language I made up. "Wandering Star" is a nickname. She is a person of myth to the active members of the story. I like her, I don't know why. But it sounds cool, and vaguely Tolkien-ish.

Stone of vision:
A friend of mine asked me one day which characters of the book i could identify myself.
I answered, none of them or all of them. They were too passionate to handle, so if i would be part of that fabulous world i choose to be anything else even a "thing" but a character, because what i'm a good at is witnessing and ponder the swing of life and its meaning.
But first of all i wanted to SEE and keep on having this world in my vision.
Stone of vision was quite approriate being a perpetuel stone which can see. I like thinking of me as a palantir and being Feanor's creation doesn't displease me either. He made me very well after all....

Ps Sil is my original nickname but people tend to confuse it with the Silmarillion...so SOV remains me

well, in ages past, when BD was running on Ezboard, I wanted to be Olorin, for I like him much, yet the nick was already in use. So, as I like other wizards also, even Curunir, and I busy myself sometimes inventing stories about blue wizards, the realm of good easterlings in the east established by those, with myself coming to Elrond as a messanger when the Ring is found and Sauron begins to assail our borders), Olorin painlessly became HerenIstarion as a union of wizards

If you changed your screen-name you'd loose all your status.

In the name-genorator, my elvish name was Oroaraniel, and I didn't like the 'O' in the beginning so I changed the 'O' to an 'A' and ta-daa! Aroaraniel!

Shorten form of Galadriel, since the full name is most likely taken here.

suicidal elf chick

I chose my name to be suicidal elf chick because I like death, I like elves, and I'm a girl. And 'elf girl of death' didn't sound to good.

Halbereth Diagona

Ok, you probably won't believe this but I made up my nickname. Totally made up. I just typed it on the spur of the moment. I linked it to my own made up language, could be faery.
Halbereth: Well, Halber kind of sounds like Herald, which is an announcer. Eth is like a link, like and, so herald and
Diagona: Diagonal, simply because I am awkward, like diagonal things. I like to be the first to know things so my reasoning is Halbereth Diagona = Awkward Herald. That's my reasoning. Weird, but kind of logical when you think about it.
Then again, I put it into the name generator, and came out with Awful Brandybuck, which since I'm so like Merry is me to a tee!!
