I am just wondering... how do you change your displayed name? I can't do it by view/changing my profile. How do you do it? CAN you do it?

I know this may no be the best place to put a topic like this, but it seemed like the only place to do it.

This is exactly the question I have been wondering about since I first registered here (apart from a lot of Tolkien-related questions of course smilies/wink.gif ). I tried a second registering, and there it was clearly said that you can't change your Log-In Name, but changes of the displayed name were possible. Still I can't get through it. Thanks for replies, EfR

You can't.
The possibility exists to enable it on UBB, but for obvious reasons the Downs forum does not allow users to change their displayed name.

I was wondering about changing my name aswell. But i only wanted to put a į on the first a of my name rather than changing it completly.

As Sharkū said, you can't change your public name on the Downs. If we allowed that, because (1) if we made it something you could change yourself, we'd never know who anynone was because of the changing nicks - just go to the chat room to see an example of this; and (2) if we changed them for you, we'd spend several hours a week changing people's nicks to something they would probably want changed a week later.

You have two choices: (1) Stick with the nick you have; or (2) Start a new account - yes, you will lose your post count of you do this

I don't blame you, Mr Barrow Wight sir, for disabling display name changes. On my free proboards message board I cna't disable the changing display name funtion, which has led to a few members changing their name occassionally, which if very confusing! My display name here isn't great, but I'll stick by it!

I was just wondering, because I thought I read somewhere when I was registering that you could change your name.
