What were the Vanyar or by what other name were they known?

i dunno, but i think that "vanya" in elvish (quenya) is "beautiful" and when u add an "r" that makes it plural. so maybe it has summin to do with that?

Vanyar: The First host of the Eldar on the westward journey from Cuivienen, led by Ingwe. The name (singular Vanya ) means 'the Fair', referring to the golden hair of the Vanyar.

Unless you count the children and grandchildren of Indis (Fingolfin, Turgon, Finrod, Galadriel, etc...) who had Vanyar blood.
