Everything. I like absolutely everything. *sigh*
But, in the movie, certain scenes really stuck out in my mind, such as. . .
Galadriel's monologue at the beginning (especially when she spoke Elvish) When Merry and Pippin steal the fireworks When Merry and Pippin steal the vegetables "Are you frightened?" "Yes." "Not nearly frightened enough." Gandalf's death Boromir's death I'd write more, but I have to go to bed early (stupid summer school!)

I guess my favourite chapter in the book is 'Lothlórien'. It's so beautifully written you can hear how much Tolkien loved nature with all its trees and flowers.
In general I loved the film, but I was really annoyed with the stupid and unnecessary changes. Arwen, for example, had a role too big.
Oh yeah, and I hated the lines:
"-If you want him, come and claim him!" and "Let's hunt some orc!" (Or whatever Viggo Mortensen said)

"Fool of a Took!"
I LOVE the battle scences, esp. the one at the beginning of the movie!
In the movie, after Legolas declares that the ring must be destroyed: Gimli:
"And I suppose you think you're the one to do it! I'd rather be dead than see the ring in the hands of an Elf!" (I think that's what he said) Anyway, He spits when he forms the "f" of "Elf" and I die laughing everytime I see the annoyed side-glances of Legolas and Gimli!
Definitely Lothlórien! The book and the movie! Also, the Mirror/Glade of Galadriel is cool!
The list could go on but I won't let it!

Two words: Gimli & Pippin.
My favorite chapter is Journey in the Dark. The nature inside Moria is beautifully descired and it is easy to see that Tolkien was a great lover of nature. smilies/wink.gif

burrahobbit! My goodness! (OK, I DID laugh).
My favorite things about the books are:
~Tolkien's ability to write such characterization. Every character truly has their own personality.
~The pictures that Tolkien can paint in your mind with his words.
~The story, it is the best story I have ever read.
~Creation - the fact that Tolkien created everything (well, some inspiration and classic fairytale characters are there, but they are altered to git his purposes).
As for the movie:
~Mushrooms scene
~Bree scene
~Moria scene
~Breaking of the Fellowship scene

I really think the nature in Moria is wonderful, only, where is the nature? smilies/wink.gif
My favourite piece is in Lothlorien, when they arive, and when Galadriel speeks. Also in the movie the first scene with Galadriel when she talks about the changes in ME.

Hmmm... favorite thing. I like everything! I like the actors, the lines, the books. The only thing that I didn't like (in the movie) is (please don't kill me but..) all of the fighting. I think that they draged all that stuff out too long. Like this post. oh well. I liked everything else! smilies/smile.gif

Well... what can I say?
When I saw the movie I didn't knew anything about J.R.R. Tolkien or the LoTR books.
Now I am the biggest fan of his books!
- I like the fighting scenes from the movie
- I like how they imagined Rivendell and Lothlorien
- I like that in the books every character has his own personality
- I like how Tolkien describes the nature (like Lothlorien...)
- Ilike the Mirror of Galadriel (it's cool)
I don't like that Glorfindel doesn't appear in the movie.
Oh... I've heard a rumor that Arwen will go to Helm's Deep to help Aragorn in the battle. Do you know something about this?

From the books:
-Many Meetings
-A Journey int he Dark
-The bridge of Khazad-dum
-Lothlorien
-The Mirror of Galadriel
-Yes, I'm just naming all of the chapters in the book, why do you ask?
I greatly admire Tolkien's writing style; how he depicts this world unlike our own so clearly and so detailedly that there are even studies to see if this world is possible, how it could be a universe parallel to ours. ANd esp. his creativity in creating languages and the inhabitants of Middle-earth.
From the Movie:
-"What are you doing?" "Breakfast." "You already had breakfast." "Ah, but what about second breakfast?" "Do you think he knows about tea-time or supper?" "I doubt it."
-"If I take one more step, I'll be farther away from home then I've ever been."
-The Council of Elrond
-The Last Alliance scene (Go Elrond!)
-The Ring goes south
-Most of the movie, excluding the Arwen parts; it'd be just fine without Arwen in it!
