What did the Lady Eowyn give Merry after the Funeral of King Theoden, where did that thing come from, what was engraved upon it and how many times did Merry use it?

Re: A Question about Merry
Oooo ... good one....
She gave him a horn from the horde of Scatha the Worm....
it had (what else) horses carved on it ... and I'd say he blew it at least a couple times (he did the Horncall of Buckland when they were in Bywater)... but I couldn't say the exact number of times he used it.

Re: A Question about Merry
Very good!
I Think he used it Two times ... the first when the hobbits started to "wake up" the shire and the other time he said to a chieftain of the ruffians "keep your breath, i got a better one" or sth like that
Your turn!

Those are both correct. But the one I was looking for was Holdwine. My question wasn't worded well.

Since no one seems to answer this one ill give away the answer:
merry saw bilbo disappearing when Lobelia and Otho approached him ...when they were gone, bilbo suddenly returned, and that made merry suspicious.

The Barrows where the graves of the ancient kings of the north and the wights where evil spirits(?) that had risen from the graves and now haunted them.

The wights were actually sent to the barrows by the Witch King of Angmar and were not the ghosts of the original people buried there.
But close enough!

Am I right assuming that you came across this while analyzing Appendix F for the encyclopedia ?
"Hobbit" was at first the name given to the Harfoots by the Fallohides and Stoors, deriving from holbytla, hole-builder - they loved holes and smials most of all.

Haven't looked yet, but I will.
But I've gotta know what the answer to that last one was!! From a fellow Tolkien fan to another...c'mon...what is it?

Could you also tell us the answer to the last question in the now closed Telchar thread, Saulotus? I was really puzzled by that one.

Incorrect.
But here's a new question:
What other name may Doriath be known by?
Answer found in HISTORY.

Before Melian cast the Girdle of Protection around it, the region after known as Doriath was known to the Sindar as Eglador.

Re: Thain's book
I'll have to accept this answer as valid due to bad phrasing of the question.
The answer I was looking for was: Garthurian, as both this and Doriath have the meaning of Hidden Realm.
Ask away.

Re: Thain's book
Saulotus, not meaning to diss you or anything, but I rather think that you ask too many questions on History. You see most people have not read many if any of those books.

Gwaihir... the issue of HoME and UT has already been addressed. That's why Saulotus graciously ended these questions (though I sure wish he would have moved them to the thread I made for them instead ... I didn't want them to go away. I just wanted them to be in their own place).
