Here is another. See the first for rules.
Trace the difference between these two characters using no more than 5 links.
Rose Cotton -- Thingol

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
Hmmm...
Rose Cotton - Sam Gamgee - Frodo Baggins - Aragorn - Elros - Dior - Thingol;
Not very good, but: married - best friends - companions - rightful descendant and ancestor - grandson and -father - grandson (and heir) and grandfather

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
This is 6 links (you have to solve it in 5 links or less).... and breaks the rule about two names being related. They must be parent, spouse, or child. You'd have to list a lot more people between the Aragorn and Elros!
You could have skipped Frodo since Sam knew Aragorn quite well also.
Please try again.

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
How about:
Rose Cotton - Sam Gamgee - Galadriel - Eárwen - Olwé - Elwé Thingol.
Link 1: marriage; 2: familiarity; 3:daughter of; 4: daughter of; 5: brother of.
I had to use the genealogies in The Silmarillion, but I think it´s OK, right?

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
Yep... that'll do....but I had:
Rose -- Sam -- Gollum -- Sauron -- Beren -- Thingol
-------spouse--guide----bad guy--prisoner--father in law
Good answer, Sharku, but very complicated! Of course, this game can be quite complicated ... and a challenge. You try one!

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
Try to connect BOLG with FINROD FELAGUND; exactly 5 links, i.e. 4 persons!
I´ll bet there are more solutions than what I have.

Yes, a minute after I posted it I recognized that "Beorn" can be placed in stead of "Azog - Daín"...
Your turn again.

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
The problem with this game is that there are just too many characters that are easily related to each other. I gotta pass. I can't think of one tonight <img src=frown.gif ALT=":(">

Re: 6 degrees of Middle-Earth - #2
Yes, the game is fun, but with characters like Gandalf or Sauron, who had something to do with almost everyone, there is an almost incomprehensible variety.
