Sorry I have been pretty slow recently, it“s not because I lost interest, but time and internet access...

Frodo once had a vision of Sam which irritated him. What did he see?

Well, he probably did not see that I“m off. See "More trivia".

Sam appeared to Frodo as an orc when he first snatched the Ring back from him in the Tower of Cirith Ungol.

Aragorn re-established Annuminas as the capital of Arnor early in the Fourth Age. Annuminas lay on the shores of Lake Evendim, otherwise known as Nenuial.

In LoTR, Aragorn is crowned by Gandalf with something that looks very much like an ordinary war-helm of Gondor. This, however, was not always what the the Kings of the South-Kingdom wore. What were the origins of the first crown of Gondor, and why wasn't the headgear of Anįrion used?

If i remember correctly, the crown was said to have been the plain, unadorned helm worn by Isildur at the battle of Dagorlad. Anarion`s helm was crushed by the stone cast from the Barad-dur which killed him. The first crown was replaced by a more ornate design during the reign of Atanatar Alcarin.

Hasufel had carried Garulf. I think that you're asking for Garulf's fate. He was slain in battle between Eomer's eored and the orcs of Isengard. If you meant Hasufel's fate, I don't know it after Aragorn remounted his own Roheryn.

Nigh to Mount gundabad, the mountains are very small. It looks like one could cross there. THen going down... aggain they become small just over the High Pass, then the High Pass itself -- wasn't the High Pass infested with Orcs? Oh well, I'll include it. Journeying through Khazad-Dum would get you through, but that's under, not over.3 so far... The Redhorn Gate, making 4, low mountains near Eregion, and the Gladden River, 6, Then no more until the Wizards vale itself. That makes six, or seven if you include the Wizard's Vale. How about it?

Re: MIstari

Now I regret asking this question without having first looked it up. I was basing it on the conversation following the failure of the fellowship to pass the Redhorn Gate/Dimrill Dale route. Gandalf's reply to Boromir suggests that the only remaining options were Moria or the Gap of Isengard (and ruling out the latter). And of course there was the high pass east of Rivendell. So, I had originally intended that the answer was two (plus at least two subterranean routes).
But then I got your answer and tried to assess it by reference to the canon, and this is what I found.
The Hobbit says:

Quote:
There were many paths that led up into those mountains and many passes over them.

And Silma describes the movement of the Great Alliance:

Quote:
From Imladris, they crossed the Misty Mountains by many passes...

Both of which I had completely forgotten.
So I don't know the answer. Yours seems plausible enough. Ask us!
