Telchar did make weapons which were held in the strongrooms and armouries of Menegroth, but this is not the answer I am looking for.

Re: Another Telchar question

I'm not sure if you are after something so straightforward. But Aule is the greatest of craftsmen and the maker of the Naugrim besides. Please if Telchar is not of Durin's people, what is he? Is not Nogrod Dwarvish?

Re: Another Telchar question

By saying that Telchar was not of Durin`s people, I meant that he is descended from another of the seven fathers of the dwarves. He lived in Nogrod and therefore Durin would not have been his liegelord, even though he was `Eldest` of the seven dwarves created by Aule.

The relationship between the person I am looking for and Telchar was a direct master-apprentice one, so Aule is not the answer, though I take the point that Telchar would have had a great deal of respect for him, as did all the Naugrim.

Wrong. Azaghal did not have a `master-apprentice` relationship with Telchar, as I intimated in a previous post.

Brandir could not accompany Turin on account of his lameness. When Dorlas rather churlishly upbraided Brandir, one of his kinsmen volunteered to go in his stead.

Re: Another Telchar question

I lack a plan, but, I think you must pass the hidden door, then the inner gate, then up Orfalch Echor and its seven gates. From the account of Tuor's entry, a final gate awaits, that is, the gate of Gondolin seems to follow. If I name these aright, I count ten.

Re: Silmarillion Question

Azaghal gave it to Maedhros as a token of thanks after being rescued from Orcs. Maedhros then gave it to Fingon as a token of friendship. But no-one it Hithlum could comfortably wear it, apart from Hador and Galdor, so it became an heirloom of their house.

The ideal answer to this would have told the story of Atlantis; how it started as a noble and great civilisation, then fell into greed and became power-hungry. The gods -- in this case, Zues -- had to punish it by throwing it into the sea.

Anyway, you got the island, so ask away.

Sorry to interrupt, but I thought I`d mention the following story.

Some people believe that the Azores are all that remains of Atlantis. Whether or not this is true is obviously debatable.

Apparently when the Spaniards landed there in the 15th century they found a pacifist, culturally advanced people. The Spaniards butchered all the inhabitants, and tried to destroy all evidence of their existence. Very few references to this event have survived.

My cousin is a Catholic priest who, until recently, worked in the Vatican library. He helped me on several occasions during the course of my degree (Medieval History) and I asked him if he could find any information about this story. He confirmed that there were several documents relating to the incident held in Rome, but that they were subject to an interdict preventing access to them.

This story has always fascinated me, but I doubt that I shall ever know any more about it.

The few grim hill-men from Lamedon came to Minas Tirith without a captain, so you can't find the answer in the muster scene with Pippin and Bergil. I have asked this question before (in another guise) but since the fact escaped the masterly wight, it must still be germane.
Who was Lord of Lamedon during the War of the Ring?

I think (but I'm not certain) that the answer to the 'elfsheen' question was Morwen.

Veantur was the first Numenorean to sail to Middle-Earth. I am not sure, but I think his ship was called Entulesse, which means `return`.

In keeping with the Numenorean nautical theme.

I am going to assume that you mean "Middle Earth" and not Numenor. If you did, then the name of the ship is Numerramar (another of Veantur's).

Perhaps the answer to this one is, of all people, Melkor. Whenever he saw Turgon in Valinor, Melkor forboded that in the future, from Turgon ruin would come to him.

If that's the answer, then I must say it was a very clever question.
