This is a continuation of Odd Man Out 2, it having reached 100 posts. Falmar is asking. Can we have another hint? <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

This is just so Falmar will notice it and that we are looking for a hint!

"He turned to Eldarion, and gave into his hands the winged crown of Gondor and the sceptre of Arnor, and bade him farewell."</p>

P.S my answer still stands, Everyone had been to Mordor except for Radagast!

Re: Odd Man Out 3

I don't think it actually says anywhere that Aragorn entered Mordor. Although it is likely he did after the war. Anyway here are some hints.

It has something to do with travel, and Bilbo mentioned it very early in the Hobbit.

Aragorn in Mordor

Somewhere in one appendix it is said that Aragorn went with Gandalf over the Ephel Duath in some secret errand, and we all know what land is over this range of mountains...

Anyway, after the War; Aragorn did enter in Mordor.

Is Gollum the only one who never rode a horse? Just a wild guess, I don't remember Saruman doing so either.

Re: Aragorn in Mordor

Let me repeat the question.

Aragorn, Radagast, Gollum, Saruman, Frodo, Samwise.

Which doesn't belong? And why?

Another hint: Bilbo talked about this early in life and did it late in life.

PS: Others may disagree, but I think it is debatable whether or not Aragorn ever went to Mordor. In the appendix it says he was last seen looking toward the Mountains of Shadow, but it does not say he crossed them. He searched Ithilien for signs of Gollum but I think it unlikely he entered Mordor at this time. The boundary of Mordor doesn't start until one goes beyond Shelob's lair, or passes the Gates of the Morannon. While it is likely Aragorn conducted mopping up operations in Mordor after the War, I don't believe it says anything definite about it.

Yes, Telchar has it -- all but Finrod fostered his &quot;sister-son&quot; at some point, which was &quot;the custom of men in those times&quot;. (That's what The Silm says about Haldir-Hurin-Huor.)

You ask one, Telchar.

Was Narsil ever wielded by an elf? All the others were.

PS: Someone above asked when Aragorn ever sailed the ocean. He did so when he served under Ecthelion. He raided the fleet of the Corsairs of Umbar, destroying a good part of it. He slew the Captain of Umbar and withdrew his fleet with small loss. At the time he went under the name Thorongil.

Aranruth eventually became the sword of the Kings of Numenor. Assuming it was wielded by Ar-Pharazon, then it was the only one to travel to the Undying Lands.

Re:

Stonehearted indeed. <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

Does the answer have to do with jewel robbery? Morgoth, Thingol, Sauron and Barahir had rings or Silmarils taken from them by force. Fëanor lost the Silmarils to Morgoth, of course, but wasn't present at the robbery.

I'll give you that one - Actually I thought Barahir was odd out because nobody never stole anything from him - he was actually killed before they took his hand (I hope <img src=frown.gif ALT=":("> )
Beren stole a Silmaril from Morgoth, Dwarves stole a silmaril from Thingol, Morgoth Stole a the Silmarils from Fëanor and Isildur Stole the one ring from Sauron... Give us another <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

HINT: According to an old Irish saying, if he hasn't lost it already, a man loses his heart when this happens to him.

Odd one out

Could it be that all of them fell when they died except for Gothmog?

-Ancalagon must have fallen from the skies.
-Gandalf cast Durin's Bane from the top of the endless stair.
-Glorfindel fell as he killed that Balrog.
-Smaug fell when shot by Bard.

Re: Odd Man Out

Sorry I've taken so long in replying; I had forgotten that I'd posted here.

- Gandalf
- Luthien
- Morgoth
- Sauron
- Elwing
- Galadriel

Elenhin

Sauron never saw the light of a Silmaril?

Telchar
10-15-2001, 03:38 AM
That's very unlikely Elenhin, As Morgoth wore them in his crown for all of the first age - those two most have been face to face... + there is the evening star...

Luthien - for never having sailed the Sea!

The Laurenendorian
10-16-2001, 01:31 PM
When did Morgoth 'sail', then?

A nice try, but no.

A clue:
I could have included Radagast in the set, but not Fëanor.

Turambar
10-16-2001, 01:55 PM
Was it Galadriel because she never changed her form?

Telchar

I just assumed that Morgoth sailed when he was taken prisoner and brought back to Valinor???

The Laurenendorian

Turambar has the answer I was looking for.

I hadn't considered sailing at all, at first. That was why I said that I couldn't have included Fëanor, though.

Turambar's turn.
