I noticed that no-one had posted here for almost a fortnight. Why not be the first in a while? I confess that I used an anagram generator for these. I'm just not good enough
1. TSUNAMI TIM SONY (Geographical Feature, 2 words)
2. MENTOR OWL (A Lesser Geographical Feature, 2 words)
3. EIGHT HURL TWIN (A person/thing, 1 word)
What would the world be without anagram generators?

Ugh! I totally forgot to bring my Complete Guide to Middle Earth with me today to help me solve those other two! I guess it will have to wait until Monday. I'm off to ski this weekend!

Anagram generator
enep, could you e-mail me that program or tell me where I can download it? I've never answer to anagrams questions, because my level of English isn't good enough to create new ones.

Oh rats. When the anagram forum was deleted so was my link to Brendan's anagram generator. ARGH! I will have to search for it, and when I find it again I shall post it nothing short of immediately. Fear not, Grond!

2. REEKING LASS (2 words - too easy!)
3. HERO MAN TEE NUN (2 words)
4. RATTAN LOCO RANGER (2 words)
5. I SHIELD OUR FIR (3 words)
6. DUNHARROW DIRGE FREED LOST (4 words)
7. SANK HARD STEEL WITH STAR ON BROW (6 words)

Hey guys! Please try these. I spent hours doing them. (I made half a dozen anagrams each for #6 and #7. I did NOT use an anagram generator.) Do you need a hint or two?
You must have #1 already and probably #2 as well. They will lead you to the rest.

5. HEIR OF ISILDUR
But can you give me a hint on 6 and 7, please?

Great Sîdhrîs!
Hmmm, hints for #6 & #7. How do I do this without giving them away?
#6 'goes with' #1 thru #5.
#6 & #7 are the same, but not the same.
Sîdhrîs
05-05-2002, 07:15 AM
Well, now I've got it:
6. Anduril the reforged sword
7. Narsil the sword that was broken
These were real brain twisters, it took me quite lomg to figure them out... Well done, Lostgaeriel!

Well done Sîdhrîs!!! And thanks for the cudos.
I enjoyed making them up. I figured there must be at least one good anagram from all of Aragorn's names, titles and descriptors. (He was my fave even before Viggo.) And since I'm never likely to solve another anagram anyone posts, I thought I would take my only chance and post all the anagrams I could.

You've got to think positive, Lostgaeriel!! Just try to solve these, I don't think the are difficult:

NINTH DEAD FILTHIER MOOR ROTS (5 Words)
THERMOELEMENT OF HERO UNHIT TWIN (6 Words)

Like I said, Sîdhrîs, I'm pretty much useless at solving these things. smilies/confused.gif Mind you, I've only spent about an hour or two looking at these in the past week. A hint would make it easier, but I don't think I've worked hard enough yet to get a break!

#1 and #2 have to do with Pippin, #3 was a present by the Elves...

Sugesstions for this thread? Only one anagram at a time.
Use the same number of words as in the answer.
Use the same number of letters in each word as in the answer.
If you start giving questions with more than 3 words (not including 'the,' 'of,' etc.), you're generally not going to get an answer.

Thanks for the advice, Legalos! But you might as well tell us to NOT play anagrams, because those rules make it pretty much impossible to make Middle-earth anagrams. (I notice you are not an anagram player on the Downs.)
An anagram is a word or phrase made by changing the order of letters in another word or phrase.
Yes, the best anagrams are elegant. There is a connecting idea between the anagram and its solution. One of the best examples is:
PRESBYTERIAN - BEST IN PRAYER
But to expect to make an anagram with the same number of words, and further with the same number of letters per word, as the solution is unreasonable. It is in fact, impossible! smilies/eek.gif
As for one anagram at a time, where's the fun in that? smilies/biggrin.gif
It sometimes takes some time to solve these things. There are unsolved anagrams in the Quiz Room dating back more than a year. (And they always look easy to the creator.) smilies/evil.gif
