They were all part-elf apart from Frodo?
Telchar
01-25-2002, 02:27 AM
All lost their father at an earli age except Legolas and I am in doubt about Ugluk
Keeper of Dol Guldur
01-25-2002, 02:59 PM
No, no and no, but that part elf one was pretty good, I didn't think of that. Maybe I should have included another hobbit....

Damn, I didn't think of that either. No, but I hope someone gets it sooner or later. It's something you might "hear" about but not think of at first.

Keeper of Dol Guldur

Keeper of Dol Guldur
01-30-2002, 06:18 PM
Wow, another one I didn't guess. I really should have put another hobbit in instead of Ugluk.
Lothiriel Silmarien

I had to reply only because I know the answer! Legolas was the only one with pointy ears.
Orome
08-22-2002, 08:41 PM
frodo had hairy feet
Well, Ugluk was a Urūk-Hai, which is a crossbread. The others were full-blood of whatever race they belonged to.

You said think movie characters....
Frodo is the only one that is not played by an actor close to his own age.
hobbitlass
10-01-2002, 08:57 AM
actually that's a stupid answer, now that I think about it... isn't Elrond a couple of thousands of years old?!
Okay, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) is the only one not wearing a wig.

okay.....
Shelob
Faramer
Beren
Sauron
Frodo
Legolas
10-02-2002, 08:02 AM
Mm...a few that could apply I guess.
Sauron was the only one who could change his alter his physical features upon command?
Telchar
10-02-2002, 08:06 AM
Faramir never had hands or fingers or claws bit or cut off - the others did.
Sauron: finger cut off by Isildur
Frodo: finger bit of by Gollum
Beren: Hand bit off by Carcharot
Shelob: claw cut off by Sam

Legolas
10-02-2002, 08:14 AM
Blast!
I pondered that, but for some reason, Beren's incident did not occur to me, so I ruled it out.
hobbitlass
10-02-2002, 09:28 AM

Your go...
Telchar
10-03-2002, 12:33 AM

Aldarion
Tour
Earendil
Elros
Tar-Minastir

Telchar
10-04-2002, 07:17 PM
good idea - but no smilies/frown.gif - remember the thread name...

Earendil was the only one who could (and did) change his shape?
Telchar
10-06-2002, 03:30 AM

Well, after went to Aman to plead for help against Morgoth, he changed into a bird so he could get back to Beleriand. After that, he set sail into the sky, becoming a Star, so he could keep Beren and Luthien's Silmaril out of Morgoth's clutches.
edit: All right, I was wrong about him turning into a bird, that was Elwing. But he did become a Star in order to protect the Silmaril.
How about, Earendil was the only one given a choice of Doom?

Glorfinniel the Lost
10-06-2002, 04:03 AM
Was it Eärendil since he had a Silmaril bound upon his brow and the others did not?
Btw Susan, could you tell me which book that information is from? That's an interesting piece of info I didn't know smilies/smile.gif
Susan Delgado
10-06-2002, 04:07 AM
It's from the Silmarillion, chapter 24, "Of the Voyage of Earendil and the War of Wrath"
Telchar
10-07-2002, 01:36 AM
no and no - And Earendil didnt 'become a star - He sails the heavens in his ship Vingilot still wearing the Silmaril on his brow and as a lil help the Silmaril has nothing to do with the answer... Here is a little hint: All og them, but one, has something special about him.
Susan Delgado
10-08-2002, 09:21 AM
From ME perspective, he did.
Tuor had no Elven blood
Telchar
10-08-2002, 09:31 AM
Fair enough Susan - difference in interpretation should be allowed smilies/smile.gif and your answer was perfectly correct - no elvish blood in Tuor. Please go on smilies/smile.gif

Telchar
10-14-2002, 01:05 AM
I have to agree with Susan, that they can be pretty hard to come up with when it has to do with physical features ...
GildorInglorion
10-18-2002, 08:20 AM
I will help you out
Cirdan
Gandalf
Gloin
Legolas
Not to hard, Cirdan can cause confusion if you haven't read Tolkien in a while
