Seeing as how I'm new here, I thought I'd start a new trivia topic. (that and the fact that I couldn't catch a current one that I could join because they were all answered) smilies/cool.gif
So here's my question:
When the Fellowship was preparing to leave Lothlorien, the elves stowed some rope in thier boats. What were those ropes made of?

What was Labadal's real name?
Sador was Labadal's real name. I probably won't be able to answer much more. My friend is leaving tonight. He's helping me out. His name is Steve.

OK, Joy. If need be, I'll ask thx next one for you. But until then, it's your turn. smilies/wink.gif
I have one. I have been doing some study since my friend has been here. He told me about the Ency of Arda last night.
What other names does Thorongil go by, what does it mean and why did he use this name. Be specific.
Bruce MacCulloch
02-17-2002, 07:47 PM
That's quite a large answer you want, but here goes.
Thorongil, "eagle of the star", was the name used by Aragorn in the service of Ecthelion, Steward of Gondor. He was also called Estel, "hope", while living in Rivendell; Aragorn; Strider; Longshanks, by Bill Ferny; Dunedan, "man of the West", by Bilbo; Elessar, "elf stone", as king; and Telcontar, a translation of "Strider", the name he took as the name of his house. I'm sure that there is one or two that I forgot, but for the most part, that should be a good answer. smilies/wink.gif
