View Full Version : Initials game!!!

This is my first post in here, so bear with me.
Ever heard of the initials game?
You give out initials(it has to be at least two letters) then guess who they belong to.
ex. B.B.
Say you didn't know who this was, you ask yes or no questions until you do.
Is he/she and elf?
No.
A hobbit?
Yes.
Is he/she a Baggins?
Yes.
Bilbo Baggins?
Good Job!
And so on, but I, and I hope everybody else will come up with harder ones than that.
Oh, and for all the characters with one name, take Legolas or something and put in either their other name in english(or elvish) after a period.
ex. L.G.
or who they're daughter/son of, only with a dash wo we know.
ex. L.-T.
Or if they have many different names like Gandalf...
ex. G.M. or G.S.
or ex2. A.L. for Aragorn, with their dominant initial first.
So I'll start with an easy one.
Who is G.-R.
Lyra Greenleaf
04-24-2003, 11:53 AM
Goldberry, daughter of the River perhaps?
or Goldilocks daughter of Rose Gamgee?
Or here's a question: Are they in the Lord of the Rings or the longer histories of Middle Earth?
Ainaserkewen
04-24-2003, 01:09 PM
Thank you, it was Goldberry. And the names can be from the Silm. and stuff, but they half to be fairly well known...
You can try harder ones to see if anyone gets them. They need to be accesable though.

Next...
Who is T.F.?
Eruwen
04-25-2003, 11:55 AM
Is the person in LOTR or the later books?
Lyra Greenleaf
04-25-2003, 12:19 PM
*coughs politely*
Is it not now my go since Goldberry was the right answer?
Ainaserkewen
04-25-2003, 01:31 PM
Answering Lyra Greenleaf:
It was just taking some time for you, I was impastient, sorry.
You may go now and T.F. can wait.
Lyra Greenleaf
04-26-2003, 03:22 AM
Wow, you're very impatient aren't you? smilies/wink.gif I like it!
OK, F.B.
Arwen_Evenstar
04-26-2003, 06:16 AM
Would it by any chance be Mr Frodo Baggins?
Eruwen
04-26-2003, 09:28 AM
For some reason I'm hoping that it's not that easy of an initial, so I'm going to go with Fosco Baggins, Frodo's Grandfather.
ElentariGreenleaf
04-26-2003, 09:36 AM
You could just go:
Is it a main LotR character? to check.
Nuranar
04-26-2003, 09:42 AM
Or Fredegar/Fatty Bolger.
You could just go:
Is it a main LotR character? to check.
Ah, but if someone beat you to the punch with an actual answer, you're out of luck.
ElentariGreenleaf
04-26-2003, 10:06 AM
*shruggs shoulders* Meh ^_^
Lyra Greenleaf
04-26-2003, 12:35 PM
Nuranar is right, I was thinking of Fredegar Bolger.
Eruwen
04-26-2003, 01:14 PM
oh, that was my next guess. Oh well, I'm awaiting another one now. Bring it on! smilies/evil.gif
Ainaserkewen
04-29-2003, 09:52 AM
Let's go Nuranar, I'm waiting.
Nuranar
04-29-2003, 01:24 PM

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to either:
Moto, Myrtle or Minto Burrows, each of them born at least twenty years after Frodo and not specifically mentioned at the party.
Eruwen
05-22-2003, 03:43 PM
Can you tell us at least which book you can find it in? I have searched all through the family trees at the back of ROTK, and found nothing. Oh, and Eruanna, they were at the party though. Or, at least, that's what it shows on my family tree. That is what is confusing.

That was rather hypocritical Mr Saucepan Man sir. It was neither critical nor hypocritical in intention. I was simply offering some guidelines. It rather spoils the game if one person types out every conceivable answer to a question in one post. And we are, after all, here to enjoy the games, are we not? :)

Okay, I'm feeling brain dead, so a question:
Are they living in the Third Age?
Fingolfin II
05-25-2004, 09:02 PM
Falastur, son of Siriondil?
Yes they are living in the third age and no to the last guess Fingolfin II.

A small question: Do the individuals in the answers need to be related?
Possible wild guess:
Legolas friend of Aragorn
Fingolfin II
08-10-2004, 03:32 AM
I'm not sure about whether they have to be related or not. A question for the thread-maker I guess. As to your answer, good try, but no. These two people are related.
Boromir88
08-10-2004, 09:21 AM
Right now I can't think of a daughter/son relationship so I'm going to go with...
Lothiriel grand-daughter of Adrahil
Fingolfin II
08-10-2004, 08:26 PM
Nope. They are son/daughter and mother/father.
Rilwen Gamgee
09-04-2004, 06:28 PM

Fingolfin II
09-04-2004, 07:50 PM
Dis daughter of Thrain?
And your answer was correct :).
Rilwen Gamgee
09-05-2004, 11:05 AM
Ah... I had forgotten about those ticksy second names... ;)
No. But a hint that should be mentioned is the relationship between the two is not exactly "son/daughter and father/mother", though they are related.
Boromir88
09-05-2004, 03:43 PM
Well, I think I'll go along with a dwarf guess too, only one I got now. How about..
Durin VII son of Thrain III
Rilwen Gamgee
09-06-2004, 09:52 AM
No, this person is not a Dwarf.
Boromir88
09-06-2004, 11:47 AM
Well I'm going to try one of those tricy alias names.
Dernhelm (Eowyn) daughter of Theodwyn.
NightKnight
09-06-2004, 01:18 PM
Or perhaps Dernhelm stepdaughter of Theoden?
Boromir88
09-06-2004, 10:01 PM
I think you mean "niece" between Dernhelm and Theoden. Stepdaughter would mean...incest between Theoden and Theodwyn, ACK!!!!!
NightKnight
09-07-2004, 08:23 AM
Hmmm... He was like a father to her...
Boromir88
09-07-2004, 09:44 AM
I see what you mean, i mean he was that father figure to Eowyn while growing up. So I see how you mean "stepdaughter."
Rilwen Gamgee
09-07-2004, 03:07 PM
No, he/she is not a human.
Boromir88
09-07-2004, 03:15 PM
Human as in not "the race of men" like Aragorn, Theoden..etc, or human as in not mortal?
Rilwen Gamgee
09-07-2004, 03:26 PM
Ah, my apologies... "Human" meaning the race.
NightKnight
09-08-2004, 05:25 AM

Please stick to the prescribed notation (or, if you're using something different, make this clear in your question).
Rilwen, it's not 20 questions here.I would have said the same but, on checking the rules, I see that questioning is permitted.
