The Saucepan Man
03-07-2004, 12:57 PM
Gil-Galad, "trick questions" are one thing, but questions where the answer has nothing whatsoever to do with Tolkien are another. The answer to your last question fell squarely within the latter category and, as such, is off-topic for this forum.

Please keep both the questions and the answers Tolkien-related in the future.

I suggest that Sleepy Ranger continues with the next question.

Sleepy Ranger
03-07-2004, 01:38 PM

I suggest that Sleepy Ranger continues with the next question.

Iaurhirwen
03-07-2004, 04:21 PM
That would be A. 2 days.

Sleepy Ranger
03-07-2004, 04:23 PM
And that would be correct. Next question.

Iaurhirwen
03-07-2004, 04:45 PM
And this would be my question:

A. The Last Alliance of Elves and Men is formed.

D. Pelargir is built

Sleepy Ranger
03-07-2004, 04:53 PM

luthien-elvenprincess
03-18-2004, 05:48 PM
I'll go...I have an easy one .

How many fish left with Gollum when he left the pool of Henneth Annun?
1. One
2. One and a half
3. At least two
4. Four

Firefoot
03-18-2004, 06:05 PM
2. One and a half.

luthien-elvenprincess
03-19-2004, 07:41 AM
incorrect

Thorongil
03-19-2004, 07:50 AM
I think he only got one.

luthien-elvenprincess
03-19-2004, 07:44 PM
wrong again:)

Iaurhirwen
03-19-2004, 08:31 PM
Either of them should be correct.

If you're looking at this moment: He had a half-eaten fish in his mouth and another in his hand. Then it's Firefoot's.

However,

If you're looking at this moment: (he still clutched one in his hand) Then Thorongil has it.

I don't mean to insult you or anything Luthien-elvenprincess, but I could find no other instance where the it is stated the number of fish in Golllum's possession after Henneth Annūn.

Namarie.

luthien-elvenprincess
03-21-2004, 04:31 PM
Iaurhirwen, if you would read the entire text concerning Gollum at the pool of Henneth Annun; then read my question very carefully; then look at all the answers I provided; simply apply a little logic...then you would realize the correct answer. :p
As of yet...no one has given the correct one!

Firefoot
03-21-2004, 05:11 PM
I do believe I understand. The answer would be 3 because he had eaten some of the fish so even if he was not holding them their had been some he had eaten, which then of course would still be with him.

luthien-elvenprincess
03-22-2004, 12:10 PM
:) well, firefoot, you did not give one of the answers I provided in the multiple choices; however, you followed logical reasoning to understand that Gollum left the pool with more fish than he carried out in his grubby hands! So, the correct answer is "C" at least two. I will turn the thread over to you...good work :)

Firefoot
03-22-2004, 02:45 PM
I have no idea why I said 3... that doesn't make any sense at all.

Who were the Hobbits' chief source of news from distant parts?

A. Elves
B. Dwarves
C. The Bounders

Gil-Galad
03-22-2004, 04:20 PM
Dwarves often travelled throug the Shire heading to Ered Luin

Arvedui III
03-22-2004, 05:45 PM
Gil-Galad probably has it, but just for boredum's sake I'll say C.

Firefoot
03-22-2004, 06:03 PM
Gil-Galad is correct.

Arvedui III
03-30-2004, 08:02 PM
Gil-Galad?

Gil-Galad
03-31-2004, 08:12 AM

NightKnight
04-02-2004, 03:54 AM

Arvedui III
04-09-2004, 11:15 AM

Thorongil?

Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 01:10 AM
