For this trivia game, we start with A and try and work through the alphabet as many times as possible using words from Middle-earth and then describing them.
A is for Anarion
The younger son of Elendil the Talland brother of Isildur.The brothers, both of whom had been born in Numenor before its Fall, ruled as conjoint Kings of Gondor from shortly after its founding until Anarion perished at the Seige of Barad-dur.

Tower of adamant, and twice it was the main fortress of Sauron. Once ended in the Last Aliance and Sauron losing the Ring. The second was during the LotR and ended with the destruction of the One Ring.

Indeed - that is the only entry for J that the encyclopedia of Arda gives. I suspect Quenya and Sindarin don't even possess the letter.

Or True Silver. The metal only found In Khaza-dum, which price was ten times and now it is beyond price - It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim. The Elves loved it - and used it for among other to make ithildin, starmoon.

K is for Khazad-dûm. It's situated in the central regions of the Misty Mountains and was founded by Durin. After the dwarves had left it it was called Moria. The attempt of Balin to reclaim it failed and later, the fellowship crossed it and lost Gandalf who fought a Balrog.

This isnt that big of a deal. But whoever gets to Z, picks a new 'theme' for the alphabet game. Telchar picked Numenor, so all our answers should be somewhat related to Numenor. The next person to get to Z, might pick Valar or Geography, then we would try to go A-Z naming all the things that deal with those two 'themes'.

E is for Ecthelion, the White Tower of Minas Tirith. Originally built by King Calimehtar, it was destroyed and rebuilt by Ecthelion I, the 17th Steward of Gondor. The arrogant git also renamed it after himself, but that's another story.

The fortress built by Finrod Felagund and afterwards destroyed by Glaurung, father of dragons. It was found by the advise of Elu Thingol after Finrod was filled with wonder of the greatness of Menegroth. Finrod got his second name, Felagund, from the dwarves who built Nargothrond with him. It means ' hewer of caves'.

For the next "theme", how about "All Hobbits, All the Time"? You can use a person, place or thing, but it MUST be Hobbit related.
And for new players, maybe we should add a reminder of the theme every once in awhile, so we don't have any more "Hey, that's doesn't count!" tiffs. smilies/smile.gif

Main character in The Hobbit and finder of the lost One Ring. He gives it (after great presure of Gandalf) to Frodo when he goes to Rivendell. He had it for about 61 years and kept it secret to everyone except Frodo, the dwarves and Gandalf.

D is for The Dead Tree - The last White Tree of Gondor, which died at the same time as Belecthor II the twenty-first Ruling Steward; for lack of a seedling, the dead tree was left standing in the courts of Minas Tirith. It was finally replaced by Aragorn, who with the help of Gandalf found the last remaining seedling on the slopes of Mount Mindolluin.
The Dead Tree was laid to rest in the catacombs of Rath Dínen.

Ar-pharazon: the ruler of the Numenorians who broke the Ban of the Valar, seduced by whispers of Sauron.
