The quiz room is a fun place to challenge others on their knowledge of Tolkien. Be polite to each other and have fun!

New Improved Rules

You can answer a question from memory or look it up...whatever it takes (how could we control how anyone gets their answers anyway?)

First person to get it right (your call, but others may challenge your answer if they feel it is wrong) gets to ask the next question. You must wait for the asker to verify your answer before asking the next question.

If you just can't wait to ask a new question, start a New Topic. We can have more than one riddle game going at once. Just remember to continue any thread you have answered correctly and the asker has verified that your answer is correct (that make any sense)?

NOTE: Questions do not have to be in riddle format. Just ask normal questions (unless you have a good Middle-Earth riddle, of course). But you must know the answer. If you have questions that you want need an answer to or want to discuss, go to THE BOOKS forum.

More info about the quizes....

(1) Questions in the same Topic do not have to be about the same subject as the previous questions in the Topic. If it is your turn to ask, feel free to ask a question about any Middle-Earth topic.

(2) Sometimes it seems that two people in a Topic are trading questions with each other. But all questions in The Quiz Room are open to everyone.

If you think you know the answer - Answer It!

(3) Any time that you have a good question (or even a not-so-good one) you don't have to wait until you answer someone else's question. Just start a New Thread.

Re: Sources for Question

Sorry, R. I forgot. The answers to all four questions I posed last night (&quot;Telchar&quot;, &quot;Another Telchar question&quot;, &quot;Tuor&quot; and &quot;Another Tuor question&quot;) were from Unfinished Tales. I`ll try to remember next time.

Regards,

T.

Re: Sources for Question

I'm not sure that, in and of itself, that should really present a problem. (I course I'm trying to exonerate Taimar; I once forgot the rule and started invoking Farmer Giles of Ham.) I thought we should consider emending the rules. I'm not even that fond of Silma questions because I don't remember that book very well. But what if we allowed questions from any JRRT books if they stay in their own topic lines? That way they don't foreclose LotR, Hobbit and Silma. questions, but they can exist. Those of us who aren't very widely read can either stick to the books we know, or bone up. As a weak-Silma. guy, I'd be just as happy if LotR threads didn't contain Silma. questions. Anyhow, just a thought. Maybe we would like to consider this?

Re: Sources for Question

Sounds like a good plan, G. I also don't know the Sil. questions as well (but I don't mind asking them <img src=wink.gif ALT=";)"> ).

From now on, let's do what galpsi has suggested. When a NEW TOPIC is created it must have the source listed in it..ie. LotR, Sil, Hob, UT, HoME, whatever. This will allow people to choose which type of questions they want to answer or to avoid the TOPIC if its just not their forte.
