To answer the first one posted by Androndo
and by luck (he was born with a good share of it) he guessed more or rightI should guess, and I hope to guess more or right smilies/wink.gif, that it is a quote regarding Sam in guessing where Frodo went after Borimir tried to take the ring.

As for the others, Ihave no guess at this time. If I am right, I will let my turn pass.

Bruce MacCulloch
02-19-2002, 09:04 AM
Joy, while that post of Androndo's was indeed a quote, it was not, however, a question on this thread. He was acknowledging my turn. So, since several people posted since the ACTUAL question was asked, I'll repost the quote here. smilies/mad.gif No, no! Wait! Now that (hopefully) this thread is back to where it was, I'm looking for the specific circumstances here.

Thank-you Mr MacCulloch, for your kind words. Now here's a tricksy one for you...

"You seem to know a lot,"

Bruce MacCulloch
02-19-2002, 11:10 AM
Sam to Gollum, "him" being Sauron, when Gollum was telling them about Cirith Ungol.

Mat_Heathertoes
02-19-2002, 03:33 PM
Yes, there is that instance. But that's part of the sentence

"You seem to know a lot about what He's doing and thinking," said Sam.

Now what I'm after is a complete sentence someplace else.

Vilya Elathelas of Rivendell
02-19-2002, 06:28 PM
and by luck (he was born
with a good share of it) he guessed more or less right

I don't know the one about sam, but I know this one (I hope.)

IT's about Bilbo in the Hobbit.

The Sam one...ugh...sam to faramir maybe???

Mat_Heathertoes
02-22-2002, 08:38 AM
'You seem to know a lot,'

Was actually Uglúk to Grishnákh regarding the Nazgûl.

As Bruce correctly identified a copy-cat quote I am pleased to defer to him for the next one

Bruce MacCulloch

TolkienGurl

What? Lecture? Moi? smilies/wink.gif I seriously didn't mean to sound harsh, or "dictatorish." Nor am I a Moderator. I was just trying to clear up a few gray areas. smilies/biggrin.gif

I just reread "The Riders of Rohan" to see if this quote was in there also, but (unless my eyes deceive me) it is not, as that is not where I found the quote. Great guess, though. It does sound like what you thought! Try again! smilies/tongue.gif

I'm just making a wild guess because I don't have my books with me, so here it is...

I'm almost positive that's wrong but I thought I'd guess anyhow.

~Nurumaiel

TolkienGurl

Manardariel
01-13-2003, 05:06 PM

Beren87
01-13-2003, 05:17 PM

Welcome Entmoot! Quite a good guess, because it is! I'll give it to you this time, but however in the future you must actually find the quote and give enough information in your answer that shows you know who it was said by, to whom, and where.

Russandol
01-21-2003, 07:45 AM
For some reason I was poring through ROTK thinking it was a ruffianly sounding quote smilies/confused.gif

.... and in a moment of clarity I remembered it's actually Gorbag to Shagrat regarding their prisoner.

Aratlithiel
01-21-2003, 08:06 AM
Gorbag to Shagrat discussing where they were going to put a captured Frodo. I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure it's in The Choices of Master Samwise.

Aratlithiel
01-21-2003, 08:09 AM
Whoops, Russandol, didn't mean to step on your toes. I'm still on my first cup of coffee & missed your second sentence. Need those A Clockwork Orange-style eyelid propper-uppers.

Pallando B.C
