Correct again, I thought that would have taken a little longer since it was from the extended version of the movie, and somewhat obscure. Either way, your turn.

3. Galadriel "For within his heart..." (i think)
4. Treebeard

#3: by Galadriel:

Narduewen
06-27-2003, 08:03 AM
I found #1 was said by Gandalf.
"I think there is more to this hobbit than meets the eye."
But I do agree with the quote that Finwe has for #3.
Firondoiel
06-27-2003, 10:41 AM

#2. "Can you not see?"
#3. "I do not think..."

# 1 is Aragorn at the Prancing Pony talking about the Black Riders: "At all times they feel the power of the Ring, drawn to the power of the one"

Legolas to Aragorn, when Pippin has taken the palantir, no?
Everdawn
12-28-2003, 10:19 PM
Ok I guess your both right, I really diddnt think that through did i? I was reffering to the EE Tow Towers and is said by Boromir to Faramir when Denethor arrives. I dont know who is supposed to go next, what do we do? the person who posted first?
The Saucepan Man
12-28-2003, 11:55 PM
I think that Arnostae was the closest. Legolas says something like "He is here" when Pippin has taken the Palantir. In Osgiliath, Frodo says "They're here". (It sticks in my mind, because he says it just like the little girl in Poltergeist. smilies/biggrin.gif )
So as to avoid further confusion, please post quotes that are unlikely to have been said more than once in the three films. smilies/smile.gif

Frodo in TTT when the Ringraith appears at Osgiliath?

or perhaps Legolas at Edoras in ROTK?
Cheers,

Goldberry
01-13-2004, 03:09 PM
Erm...this quote was asked on page 4 of this thread. This is what The Saucepan Man said about it:
Legolas says something like "He is here" when Pippin has taken the Palantir. In Osgiliath, Frodo says "They're here".
So I suppose Lyta would have it the closest. But not to worry, Thorongil! smilies/smile.gif
P.S. - If I am not mistaken, Lyta has a wonderful new PT! Congrats! smilies/biggrin.gif

Now for the hard part--a new quote! (I didn't look on the last page either to figure this one out, but it is odd that it was used again only a page later!) I also noticed that some earlier quotes have lists of up to 5 separate quotes in one question--kind of confusing if you ask me! I think I'll just stick to one:
What say you?
Cheers!
Lyta
Goldberry

01-15-2004, 01:43 AM
Legolas says something like "He is here" when Pippin has taken the Palantir. In Osgiliath, Frodo says "They're here".
After watching TTT again I saw that too, but that was the quote i meant anyway.
Phervasaion
01-15-2004, 02:43 PM
Is it Galadriel to Frodo.
I know what it is you saw.
NZ Ringbearer
01-15-2004, 11:17 PM
Should've thought about the fact there is more than one 'I know' in LOTR. However, that slipped my mind when I posted. smilies/rolleyes.gif
So, sorry Phervasaion, thats not the one I'm thinking of.
Thorongil
01-16-2004, 01:52 AM
Could it be Frodo to Gandalf in the beginning of FOTR?
NZ Ringbearer
01-16-2004, 03:09 AM
Nope, sorry. I never knew how many there really were in LOTR. People say it a lot!
If you want me to do another, I will. If this one's to obscure, or hard...
Goldberry
01-16-2004, 09:37 AM
Could it be Frodo to Aragorn at the end of FotR?
I have an idea for a new rule for this thread. We've established that we should ask quotes that are said only once. However, if somebody accidentaly asks one that is said more than once in the films, it would be nice to give it to the first person who gets it correct even if it's not the exact time the asker was thinking of. Make sense? smilies/smile.gif
So don't worry, NZ Ringbearer, I'm sure you didn't mean to ask one that was said so many times. But next time if you guys agree to this new "rule" we will give it to the first person who gets it correct so as to avoid having to guess forever. smilies/smile.gif
Phervasaion
01-16-2004, 02:14 PM
So who goes next then? I think Goldberry's answer was probably the correct one so maybe she sould.
The Saucepan Man
01-16-2004, 08:15 PM
I posted this in the FOTR Movie Quotes thread, but it applies here too:
I think that it is best to avoid one word quotes unless they are pretty much unique. Otherwise the question just leads to a long list of answers which, although correct, are not the exact quote which the question-setter had in mind, and the question then becomes a bit of a lottery.
That applies to any short quote which is likely to turn up fairly frequently in the films. Please try to keep to quotes which are unique.
NZ Ringbearer
01-17-2004, 04:13 PM
I agree to that. Sorry about anything I've caused. but if we are still going with this one, I'll give a few hints to speed it up.
It's not part of a sentance. Like 'I knowwhat it is you saw'
Its singular - 'He's very fond of you.'
'[B]I know[/B}. He'd probably come with me if I asked him...'
AND, It's not in Fellowship (Sorry Goldberry). Make it Easier?
paavo
01-18-2004, 02:28 PM

Right - Arvedui III, you win. It wasn't the one I was thinking of, but I'll give it to you, to speed everything up.
For intrests sake, the one I was thinking of was:
"Sam, I need you on my side."
"I am on your side!"
"I know."
Frodo and Sam, in RotK, after Sam has had a fight with Gollum.
Anyway, Your turn, Arvedui III! smilies/biggrin.gif
