yup yup, do you have 1?

zifnab
02-21-2002, 12:13 PM
Another easy one. Its hard to find a funny one that people don't know or have forgotten. I assume that the quotes are only to come from FOTR movie or book. Or is it all of LOTR?

Anyways who said this:

'Well find him! Double sharp! I haven't got six legs, nor six eyes neither!'

That would be Bilbo at Laketown. After the water-barrel incident. But thats not from FOTR book or movie.

Yes, it was Merry, when Gandalf read the inscription on the doors of Moria -'Speak, friend and enter'

What about this one (from the book, if you need telling):

"Ai, ai! A balrog! A balrog is come!"

Nice-Smeagol
03-25-2002, 10:10 AM
Legolas said that.

shakespeare_in_denim
03-25-2002, 06:58 PM
Is that not Gandalf? Or maybe Gimli? I have one, also.

This is a very funny one, but it wasn't really a quote, persay. This will probably never have a direct quote:

"Yeeeees! Let's go!"

Perhaps you can guess the SCENE it is from, and who said it; it's from the movie, if that helps!

Joy
03-25-2002, 10:58 PM
It is the last scene in the movie. Merry and Pippin have been kidnapped(or should I say hobbit-napped smilies/smile.gif) Aragorn says, Let us hunt some Orc then Gimli replies: YEAH!

Niltaurwen
03-28-2002, 09:53 PM

Haldir o Lórien. Henion aníron, boe ammen i dulu lîn. Boe ammen veriad lîn.

sorry...a bit tricky?

Joy
03-29-2002, 07:05 AM
Haldir o Lórien. Henion aníron, boe ammen i dulu lîn. Boe ammen veriad lîn.

That would be Aragorn as they are coming into Lothloríen. This is when Haldir and the other Elves have their bows drawn at the fellowship.

I think it means. Haldir of Loríen. We come here for help. We need your protection.

Joy
03-29-2002, 07:07 AM
Here's one from the movie.

They're close!

Shadowfax Clawson
03-29-2002, 10:45 AM
hmm...would that be Frodo when he and Aragorn are talking in the ruins near the Falls of Rauros, Frodo pulls out Sting and seeing it is blue, says "they're close..."? Just a wild guess.

Joy
03-29-2002, 03:44 PM
Nope, think early on in the movie.

I have a quote. It's quite an easy one though.

'Now we see you, you nasty little creature! We will eat you and leave your bones and skin hanging on a tree... we'll hang him head downwards on a tree for a day or two.'

Well, actually, It's from The Hobbit, but oh well!

'Now we see you, you nasty little creature! We will eat you and leave your bones and skin hanging on a tree... we'll hang him head downwards on a tree for a day or two.'

That's what the spider says to Bilbo when he's taunting the group of spiders in Mirkwood.

They're close!
That was vague. . . smilies/smile.gif

In reply to They're close. That was Merry when she hears the horse of the Wraithes. the next one will be

It is said by Gimli when they see the crabain.

Olorin_The_Grey
03-31-2002, 12:12 PM
That's right. Do you have a new quote to post.

Merry
03-31-2002, 02:47 PM
Just a note, Sam said "I think I'm getting the hang of this" not Pippin or Merry.

Merry
03-31-2002, 02:49 PM
Anyone know who said this? "...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

Joy
03-31-2002, 03:17 PM
Olorin_The_Grey, that was correct. They're close was Merry.

Joy
03-31-2002, 03:18 PM
Olorin_The_Grey, that was correct. They're close was Merry.

As for the last question "You better keep you feet..."
That was Frodo in response to Sam as they were leaving the Shire. But originally, it was Bilbo speaking to Frodo.

The_Elf_Girl
03-31-2002, 05:51 PM
Ok, here is a new one.
Who said this:
I think I´ve broken something.

Joy
03-31-2002, 09:38 PM
"I've think I've broken somehting." That is Mr. Merridoc Brandybuck.

The_Elf_Girl

Joy

Olorin_The_Grey, your quote "it's precious to me" is Isildur after taking the One Ring. He wrote this is the journal that Gandalf read.

Anyone know who said this? "...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

was it bilbo? smilies/smile.gif

Alcarinque
04-06-2002, 02:23 PM
I'm actually not sure, but... isn't it that (talking about the movie here... not the books) when Frodo and Sam are leaving the Shire, Frodo says to him something like "Bilbo is always saying...

"and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."?

Correct me if I am mistaken, but then it is Frodo who said it, although he was quoting

TheBlackRider
04-07-2002, 04:49 PM
That is none other than Bilbo. I think he says it in the Hobbit also but he tells it to Frodo.

Yup. One of my favourites. You should hear me say it.

Cathelm
06-26-2002, 04:41 PM
I've got one that I thought was funny, but that might just be me.

"I don't know how you feel with a small rag-tag dangling behind you; but the rag-tag is tired and would like to stop dangling and lie down."

Who/What/When/Where?

merlilot
06-26-2002, 06:53 PM
Meriadoc Brandybuck to Gandalf the Grey while riding Shadowfax away from Isengard at the end of Book Three, or part one of The Two Towers, if you prefer.

Brildagniriel
06-27-2002, 07:38 PM
The Quote was: "...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

That was said by Bilbo first, and is quoted by Frodo in the movie when he and Sam are walking through a field.

New Quote:
"Are we lost?"

Cathelm
06-30-2002, 10:12 PM
Yep! That's right!

Here's another one (I don't have the books with me, so there's a slight difference):

"No Sam, you can't come with me. Soon you will have Elanor to care for, and soon after that you shall have Frodo-lad, and Rosielass, and Pippin, and Merry, and still others that I cannot yet see."

Who/What/When/Where? (and does anyone know how he knew?!)

merlilot
07-01-2002, 06:52 PM
Frodo to Sam on the way to/at the Grey Havens when Sam goes "And I can't come." or something very similar to that.
And Frodo had known Sam since he was 21 and Sam was 14. After so many years, you begin to figure stuff like that out. Of course Sam was gonna name a kid after Frodo, he told him so, whan naming Elanor. And Sam is the kind of guy to name his kid after his wife and best friends.

Shire Trivia: Who was the Hobbit famous for having a lot of kids that Sam had more than? In other words, which one that had a lot of kids had less than our beloved Samwise?

BOROMIR: We must get off the mountain! Make for the Gap of Rohan and take the west road to my city!

ARAGORN: The Gap of Rohan takes us to close to Isenguard.

I'll spare you the rest of the conversation. Here's my quote

Just as an asside, "they're close" was also uttered by Legolas near the end...followed by "I can feel it" (shudder.. brings back bad highschool memories..)

Kalevala
09-17-2002, 03:03 PM
I don't think Legolas says "They are close". As far as I can remember he said: "Something draws near. I can feel it."

ah. so it was... ah well.. it still brings back horrid memories of highschool...

"We're close... I can feel it!"

merlilot

Just as an aside: "They're close was Merry just before Arwen shows up in the movie.

Quote...?
"It was a compliment. And so, of course, not true."

Rather obvious, in my opinion...

elengil
09-17-2002, 09:41 PM

"You'll be last, either way, Master Peregrin!" was about who would bath first: "Eldest first or quickest first? you'll be last, either way, Master Peregrin" Frodo said it.

"Theres something fishy in this, My dear." was said by Old Rory Brandybuck to his daughter-in-law Esmerelda (they are Merry's mother and grandfather by the way) about the vanishing Bilbo. He continued with "I believe that mad Baggins is off again. Silly old fool! But why worry? He hasn't taken the vittles with him."
