View Full Version : name the quote's speaker game!
ok, here's how you play:
1. namne the person who speaks the given quote
2. if you are the first person to get it right (the person who gave the quote will tell you if you're right or wrong) then YOU must post a quote
simple? ok i'll begin
"Go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say both no and yes."
oh, by the way, a few obvious (hopefully) things i forgot to mention:
1. you can use quotes from any of the books (the hobbit or the trilogy)
2. you can't answer your own
have fun! smilies/evil.gif

Eärendil and I are both correct, but since Eärendil answered first he/she should go. You actually asked 'who' said the quote and I answered 'who to whom'. I know Eärendil had it right when I posted my answer, I was mainly only doing that to 'confirm' it. Go ahead Eärendil...

An 'unknown' rule of thumb here in the 'downs, is that we usually wait at least a week before we deem that the 'quoter' has either forgotten or is too busy to continue. I am only mentioning this, 'cause I have been 'away' from the quiz/qoute thread for a few months and on my 'unnoticed' return I saw people only waiting 2 or 3 days to 'override' the origianl quoter.

thats a bit long isnt it? who cares who posts the quote, its not a big deal. if someone gets it let them post a quote, but if the person doesnt post a quote within two days someone else needs to for the game can continue and not have one quote per week.
alright then, i'm going to post one:
"Elves and Dragons!
Cabbages and potatoes are better for you."

I think you misinterrupted that, Tar Elendil. I never intended my post to mean, 'wait a week for a quote'. My theory is that if somebody gets a quote right, it is common sense, and/or rightful to let that person quote next. If everybody but a quote out it would be mass chaos, 5 or 10 unansered quotes floating around one thead at once, seems rather silly. If the next 'quoter' does not quote anything/or answer the quote, then in one weeks time(7 days is not a long time to wait, since not everybody is hunched over a keyboard 24/7), then a person can take over. If things work smoothly, then by all means you can have a quote or multiple quotes per day. I mean no offense, of course.
